I would like details about SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 tablets by Interpharm. ## This contains 800mgs of Sulfamethoxazole and 160mgs of Trimethoprim, a generic for Bactrim. This is an antibiotic. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and dizziness. ## I took 2 doses of this medicine and ended up in the ER with a splitting headache, after I threw up everything I have eaten since the 3rd grade! I was disoriented and had trouble relating what was wrong to the doctors. After 5 hours in the ER with an IV, anti-nausea and pain meds... I was able to return home. Never take this medicine! ## Is this drug really bad? If so why do doctor's still prescribe it?!!!! Since taking SMZ/TMP DS 800 I've had problems with ligaments of my shoulders and knee. I mentioned this to my doctor & she said it is a side affect but said nothing else about it. I took the drug after taling 2 others and none of them totally cleared up the celulitis in my lower leg...Any coment? ## I went to the doctor because of an infection in my lower leg called celluitis. I have a 10 day prescription of SMZ/TMP D'S 800-160 TAB INTERPHARM. I'm having lower abdomen pains, some slight vaginal bleeding. I have sunburn also! Are these normal side effects? ## This is an antibiotic, it's normal side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach ache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. The vaginal bleeding is not normal, unless you are on hormonal contraceptives, because this can negate them, so it would be breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking Sulfameth Trimethoprim DS 24 hours ago. It is making me very sleepy, dizzy and slightly nauseated. Is this normal? I'm taking it for a urinary tract infection and I didn't feel this bad before taking this medication! Will it have this effect for 7 days or will I get used to it? I didnt go to work today, but can't afford to lay around for a week. Can somebody please tell me if they have this reaction and what did you do about it ? ## This med makes me sick. I went in for a drug screen and the test came back non negative. My 92 yr old mother was prescribed this drug for a UTI last week. She has Alzheimer's, however, since taking this medicine, she has become very agitated, shaky, much more confused & weakened.
