I've been on Nitrofurantin for over 3 months for frequent bladder infections. I just received a letter from my insurance that says I should not be on this drug because I am over 65 years of age. I started taking Rapaflo several weeks ago. I have had what I thought was sinus congestion and sore throat. I called my general doctor for antibiotics and only got worse. Throat very sore. I am going off the med for a few days to see if the sore throat and stuffy nose improves. I will see my urologist soon and we will discuss everything in person. Also, I do have only one kidney that is not healthy so I'm thinking he should not have prescribed Rapaflo based on what I read here. ## Why were you prescribed Rapaflo? I am 87 years old . Have ben on Urimax 0.4mj for nealy a decade. Recent ultrasound showed retension of urine is nearly 50%.So I am advised to stop Urimax and take Silodal 8mg once every night 10 P.M.. Why should Silodalbe preferable to Urimax.? Should Urimax be taken in the nightbefore going to bed? I have been taking it at 4-5 P.M. ## It may simply be that after so many years, your body has gotten used to the Tamsulosin in the Urimax, so it's just no longer helping you. I am told that by taking silodal d 8mg, a person's libido will be completely affected. After stopping it, can the libido be revived again? If yes, how long it will take for such revival? ## Hello, Prakash! How are you? Lower libido is listed as a possible side effect, but I'm not reading anything that says it goes away entirely, however, there's no way to be sure how any given medication will affect any given person that takes it. Other side effects, as listed by the U.S. FDA include hair loss, nausea and stuffy nose. And yes, such side effects should go away within a few weeks of stopping it. I'm 65 years old and have been taking siofast-8 for more than 6 months. Since then, my libido has come down and I experience dry emissions. Should the silofast-8 be continued?

Could Rapaflo be used by a person using narcotic (opiate) pain medicine to pass a urine drug test for opiates? ## Even though Rapaflo (silodosin) is used to improve urination in men, the length of time following drug use for which a positive result may occur is dependent upon several factors including the frequency and amount of usage, metabolic rate, excretion rate, drug half-life, and the drug user’s age, weight, activity, and diet. So yes, it may help with the excretion rate, but that is just one of many factors you'd have to take into account when detoxing your system. Depending on when your drug test is you could have plenty of time for an increased exercise regime and a change in dietary habits if that is an issue. Hope this helps!

I was diagnonised tender DRE GR II BPH in Jan.2012. Urologist prescribed Silodocin 4mg.After next check up in March,he asked to take Urimax-D.Continuing the same till now with intermitent check ups.Although uroflow has marginally increased,discharge of semen reduced to almost zero.Now,he has advised me to take Silodicin-8mg.I am 62 years.Would you please convey me the actual reason ? ## One of the symptoms involved with BPH is enlargement of the prostate, that's what causes the reduce urinary flow, or trouble urinating.
