I'd like to hear from people who have taken this drug and what their feedback is. ## What side effects did you have from taking saphris? ## I have been taking Saphris for over a year and find it very helpful for my bipolar disorder - I have insurance and can't afford it! How does everyone pay for it??? My co-pay is $200. ## Contact the Schering Corporation, most drug companies have programs to help with the cost of the drug. ## I was falling down 'drunk' from the first dose. Literally crawling on hands and knees when it's effect hit me. This was at the lowest dose. While it did interrupt my manic episode after the second dose - taken at my Doctor's direction - I could not tolerate it. I am 5'4 and weigh 116lbs. The Doctor called at intervals throughout the da...

Does any women have problem with not having a regular period or any at all? sometimes I have spotting and I know this is from the saphris as there is no way I could be pregnant. ## This isn't listed among the side effects of Saphris, as provided by the FDA. However, most medications that work on brain chemicals can also have an effect on hormones and may cause irregular cycles. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? Are you on any other medications? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Saphris as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes and mood swings.

My son takes Saphris for Bi-polar disorder, our pharmacist (rite aid) said it is on back order and can no longer get it from any supplier! Is there a shortage? Or is it discontinued or both? ## Hello, Veve! How are you and your son? I'm sorry that you're having a problem finding his medication. However, I haven't been able to find anything listed with the FDA that there is a shortage or that it's been discontinued. But it's important to note that companies aren't actually required to report them, it is a voluntary thing. Saphris is listed as being an atypical antipsychotic that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes, dry mouth and somnolence. Have you contacted his doctor? He might need to have something else prescribed, in the meantime...

Can a 60mg morphine pill be mixed with SAPHRIS 10MG SUBLINGUAL TABLET, I take two 10mg saphris tablets a day, normally at bedtime. I just want to know if it is safe or not. Please help me with this very important question. ## IF A DOCTOR PRESCRIBES YOU SAPHRIS, OPANA, AND MORPHINE ALL TOGETHER, DOES IT SEEM LIKE THIS IS A SAFE COMBINATION? ## The Asenapine in the Saphris can be used with narcotic analgesics, however, the dosage does have to be taken under careful considered by the prescribing doctor. They do tend to have additive effects, which can increase the risk of central nervous system depression, which can cause lowered blood pressure, lowered breathing rate and lowered blood pressure. Have you discussed this with your doctor? ## hey so there is such thing as a 60 miligram opana? ...

I just want to know if it is safe or not. Please help me with this very important question. ## Has your doctor prescribed them both, so they are aware that you are taking both medications? Both the Morphine and Saphris can cause depression of the central nervous system and taking them together can have additive effects that may worsen it. Therefore, the dosage has to be carefully taken under consideration and calculated. You should also know to watch for any signs of it, such as extreme sedation, drowsiness, shallow breathing and lowered heart rate.

IF A DOCTOR PRESCRIBES A PATIENT OPANA AND MORPHINE, FOR CHRONIC PAIN, AND PRESCRIBES THEM SAPHRIS FOR BIPOLOR DISORDER, IS IT OK TO MIX THESE TOGETHER? IS IT A GOOD COMBINATION OR BAD? I KNOW SOMETIMES DIFFERENT PEOPLE REACT DIFFERENTLY TO MEDICATION, BUT I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF ITS OK. ## The combination can have additive effects, which can increase the risk of psychomotor impairment and depression of the central nervous system, so your doctor does have to take the dosage under careful consideration. They should be monitoring you regularly for any problems and you should be made aware to watch for any problems, such as lowered heart rate and blood pressure, in case you need to seek medical attention. Are there any other questions or comments?

is there a common denominator between saphris 10 milligrams and suboxin 8 milligrams ## Hello, Jersey! How are you? No, they aren't related, at all. The FDA classifies Saphris as being an antipsychotic that contains the active ingredient Asenapine. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. However, Suboxone is an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction. It carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on Saphris for four years. My doctor wants me to wean me off of it because I am Type 2 Diabetic and my levels of sugar are raised. He doesn't want me on insulin. Eventually he wants to put me on Lutuda for Bipolar Disorder, but I am unable to sleep weaning off the Saphris. I am afraid of becoming manic. ## Hello, Candy! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the insomnia. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? They may be able to prescribe something to help minimize the withdrawal effects, such as the insomnia. You may also experience rebound depression, irritability and diarrhea. Does anyone else have any ideas of what might help?

Before I started taking saphris I was around 125 lbs. when I was taking it I was over 200lbs and it piled on quick. Saphris gave me a side effect that I was rushed to the hospital in ambulance on multiple occasions. The side effects weren't there at the beginning of taking it, but I started getting these side effects probably 3-4 months after and they would occur at least once a week. These terrifying side effects were: My jaw would lock open, I was unable to shut it or breath correctly. I could not swallow or talk and it felt like I couldn't breath. If you can imagine the way darth vador breaths except the sound was anything but even and I felt I had to force every darth vador sounding breath. Not even trying to be funny because this was the absolute scariest pain I've ever...

I've been taking Saphris and it's been significantly helpful, but lately it seems like it's stopped working, for the most part. Side effects that last for a few hours after taking (appetite, sleepiness) still happen, but other effects (constipation, twitching) have become very minor if not gone. The tongue numbness associated with taking it has largely stopped too. Of course, most importantly, the beneficial effect seems to have died out. I feel like I did before I started taking it. I'm trying to figure out why. I split 10mg tablets into halves for a dose at night, and then use a 2.5mg in the morning. They're split fine, but could that, for some reason, compromise their effectiveness? Will they rapidly lose effectiveness outside their blister pack? Some of them I ca...

I was on 1,500mg of primidone a few weeks ago and my doctor went down to 500mg.because of a med mistake. It was really helping my mental health. Now i am anxious, irratable and just extremely emotional...what is wrong? I also have been missing some of my doses of saphris...what do i do? ## You are most likely experiencing withdrawal effects, especially coupled with missing doses of your Saphris. Have you informed your doctor of the dosage mistake? The typical side effects of Primidone may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes and mood swings.

I was on 5 mg of saphris for 3 weeks and hadn't felt that good in years from my depression. I told my doctor it was a wonder drug. My doctor said he hadn't heard of such a positive report. Soon after with no changes the depression returned. I want the depression to be lifted again. Any ideas? I don't see my doctor for another week. ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? This dose is likely not high enough to continue helping you and you will most likely need a dosage adjustment. This happens frequently and such medications are quite often started at a low dose and then titrated up, until you find the one that works well. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can hel...

Can u take saphris 5mg with subutex 8 mg ## I didn't find any interactions listed between these two medications, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain of the safety of taking them both. Learn more Subutex details here. Learn more Saphris details here. The main problem that I can see that may occur is due to the fact that they both cause some depression of the central nervous system, so taking them both can intensive those effects. Thus, you should know to watch for any possible danger signs, such as extreme somnolence, dizziness, lowered heart rate and low blood pressure. Have they both been prescribed for you? ## Can you please answer something for me? Ok I have been taking subutex since I have ran out of my pain meds which is opana 10mg IR. I hav...
