Also will taking tums (2 - 750 mg tablets) with this drug reduce its effectiveness? ## This is a time released formulation of Metoprolol, so it needs to be taken whole, the tablets should not be cut or broken, because that could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. If you have a tablet that's been cut or broken, you should discard it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. I have. Pacemaker I had high blood pressure during my last visit, my doctor switched my mess from twice daily Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg twice daily to a 100mg Metoprolol Succinate SA. This has made me so tired I could sleep all day, no energy fatigue trouble balancing weakness.
