Doctor took me off percocet 10's and put me on 12mcg fentanyl patches. Will this help? I was taking six percocet a day. ## The only way to discover whether or not this medication will help you is by trying it, but Fentanyl is stronger than Oxycodone. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you start the patches, yet? ## I was on 100mcg every 48 hrs of fentanyl for 15 years n it worked great. Then they cut me off cold turkey n I had to buy the patches for 1/2 of how many mcgs they were. I saw a pain management Dr to have him put me back on the patches again. He told me the state of Illinois wouldn't allow him to prescribe the patches so he gave me 180 Percocet ...

Hi i have been on the 50mcg patch for 2 months now and the provide much more relief than the mscontin 30mg did. I also get 180 10/325 percosets a month for breakthrough but am worried about my liver because of all th tylenol. I am going to talk to my doc about switching to a 10 or 15 roxi to give me some peace of mind im only 39 and have had 2 fusions done L4-L5 and L5-S1 if any one can give me any advice on something that might help better id appreciate it Thank You. ## The Roxicodone is an option, if your doctor agrees, because it is just the Oxycodone in a regular release formulation and doesn't have any Acetaminophen. Learn more Roxicodone details here. Another option you may want to ask them about would be Dilaudid, it contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, so it's a...

I have been taking 2 7.5 percent every 4 he's a 1 oxy 15 mg for over a year now and its gotten to where its only taking the edge off for maybe an hour. I have crohns disease with multiple surgeries I have tried the fentanly patch and they made me sick I need some suggestions on what I need to ask my doc for next? We have a good relationship but I just don't know where to go next it. Seems the percocet is what's not working anymore is that from taking it for so long?please I don't know I need suggestions! Thanks ## I meant 2 7.5 every four hours and 1 15mg oxycontin every 6 hours for breakthrough pain ## I too have Crohns Disease. I have run the gamete of pain meds. I am now taking methadone, and have been for about 3 years. I can say that this has been the best medicatio...

Is it alright to combine breakthrough medication (ie; one 10/325 percocet, one 8mg dilaudid), while wearing a 25 mcg fentanyl sq patch? ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Generally, only one breakthrough medication is prescribed with a long-acting medication, such as the Fentanly patch. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as constipation, dry mouth, dizziness, and headache. Taking too much could result in overdose, which carries the risk of being fatal, so you should only take the medications, and doses that your doctor has instructed you to take. Are you on any other medications? ## Thanks for the retort. Post traumatic surgeries, do notice one pain med. (/not mixing) at a time, is now very specific to treat...

I have servere lymes disease and i take 8 to 10 per day but they really dont work then they are starting to make me mean as well. So i was wondering what is the next step up in something stronger... i dont want the 10/600 dosage , Percocet just isnt for me....Can anyone help me?? ## Hi Stephen, I actually came across a chart listing all of the top pain killers, ranking them from weakest to strongest. And it looks like morphine sulfate would most-likely be the next step up from what you're taking now. You can view the chart here to get an idea of what options are out there: vaughns-1-pagers.com/medicine/painkiller-comparison.htm I hope this helps to answer your question! ## Well i am already taking the Fentanyl Patch so i would like to avoid morphine...So what else would work? ## The...

I live with severe chronic pain for 3+ years, degenerative disc disease, cervical spine. Life is at times and quite often, hell. I don't know how else to describe it and the worst if the constipation from the percocets. Are the fentanyl patches a reasonable alternative to percocets? Do they cause constipation? Should my doctor consider prescribing me patches to try? Cannabis by the way has helped me reduce my opioid intake my 75%. Do a search for beyondthc and find out the facts. Unfortunately my pain is more severe and so a combination has helped me do this major reduction, however the constipation is still a problem. Help! ## Hi Tudo, Sorry to hear about your complications with Percocet. From what I could gather, Fentanyl patches list the following gastrointestinal related side ef...

I take Lortab 10's, Fentanyl 100mg patch every 3 days and Ibuprofen. I stay in constant pain and wanted to know what I could switch to that would be stronger and help with my constant pain. I've been on all 3 medicines and alot of other medicine (not pain medicine) for over 3yrs. ## Yes, it only takes 6.67mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so the Percocet would be stronger. Learn more Percocet details here. Oxycodone is also available by itself, without the Acetaminophen, in a regular release formulation, so you also may want to ask your doctor about that. It is another narcotic opiate, so it also has the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can he...

How dose 80mg of hysingla 24hr release hydro compare to the Percocet 10/325..I have RSD which is a damaged nerve I have been put on everything just got off fentanyl patch 100mg... I have notice the long action meds dont do as good ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. Taking the 80mg Hyslinga would be equivalent to taking 53.33mgs of Oxycodone daily. Thus, that is a pretty high dosage. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## So thats like taking 5 Percocet 10/325...I take 4 Percocet a day with my hysingla. .so was my fentanyl patch 100mg stronger?? ## I...

It was very interesting to read all of the complaints about the different brands of percoset and their effectiveness. Watson was the only brand that helped me. It was a sad day when Actavis took them over and stopped producing their percoset. I even called the company and complained. I have the same issue with Fentanyl patch brands. I'm so happy to see I'm not alone! ## Hello, Marie! How are you? There are two name brand Percocet tablets currently available, both listed by the FDA as being in the 5/325mg dosage. One is a round, white tablet with the word PERCOCET on one side and DuPont on the opposite. The other is a round, white tablet that has the marking PERCOCET 5 the front. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit formi...

What makes these 2 medications different? ## Hello, Lucky! How are you? Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, while Roxicodone only contains the Oxycodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The Acetaminophen and Oxycodone combination is also available under the name Roxicet. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What can i ask my dr to give me to take along with my percocet 10s? I stay in pain. i go to a pain dr and i am currently doing inj's. in my neck first, and then the back and i need something more for the pain. I thought about a pain patch. Would that help? ## Yes, you don't want to keep increasi...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I am going to ask for 48 hours, and 50mcgs on the patch, and switching to oxycontin for B.T. pain.Hows that sound to ...

I was on 180 mg of ms contin after tapering down from 300mg for 16 yrs. I wanted to try fentanyl patches so my Dr gave me 75 mcg patch. Wow I had absolutely no pain .....but after 55-60 hrs I would wake up sweats flip popping all over totally withdrawals then I talked to a friend, she's on 50 mcg. I'm back to ms contin 120 mg ready to taper to 90 mg but it doesn't help the pain. So the pharmacist said since I also felt anxiety, depression the two weeks I tried the patch he said that maybe it was too high of a dose. Anyway my friend said she's on 50 mcg which is what I would go on and she had same thing for about 3 weeks. My ins will pay for 15 patches for 30 days so why can't I just change them every 2 1/2 days so that doesn't happen or will my percocet 10's ...

It said to be detailed, so I hope I didn't end up rambling? I have 3 herniated discs 2 in my neck and 1 in the lower back. Also bulging discs-odd but, never heard exactly how many? Also degenerative arthritis in my entire spine and neuropathy in my feet. More too, but those are the main pain related. I'm almost 70. I have been taking 20mg Percocet 8am and 10-15mg at 4-4:30 pm. When I 1st went to the pain doctor and told him about having stomach ulcers, he put me on 25mcg Fentanyl patches. I felt nothing and no pain relief. He doubled it to 50mcg, same result. Before I went back to him, I researched Fentanyl-WOW! That scared the crap out of me, so when he said he wanted to got to 100mcg, I told him I didn't want to continue with Fentanyl. So, he actually got disgusted looking...

How many percocets equal the 100mcg patches changed every 48 hours ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, so you'd actually need several hundred milligrams of Oxycodone to equal a 100mcg patch and you can't take enough Percocet to be equal to it. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, you'd overdose, especially on the Acetaminophen, before you ever reached the same level of efficacy. Even if you tried to space it over 2 days, as you would the patch. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor switched you form one to the other? ## okay? I have a question on pain ...

I recently went through bilateral mastectomy due to breast cancer. Chemo & herceptin treatments all done, but because of continual pain I was on percocet for a year, and then switched to 12mcg fentanyl patch, and recently up to a 25mcg patch. I do not want to keep taking these pain meds. So....I stopped cold turkey the patch and I am not able to sleep at night, restless body syndrome, hot & cold spells & extreme anxiety. What can I do to help with these symptoms & how long before it will take me to get through this withdrawal time? Do I need to call my doctor? ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? I have been on the Duragesic Transdermal Patch for years. I've never used the generic form, so I can't compare the two. I've been on Narcotics for many years, due to a chronic back, hip, and knee condition. The Duragesic Patch has been more effective than anything else. I've had it all...Percocet, Hydrocodone, Oxycotin, methadone...Unlike a pill, the medication doesn't wear off in 3 to 4 hours. Unlike pills, I don't suffer from nausea. I think the benefts of the patch outweigh any negative results from other narcotics. I only have one complaint about the Duragesic Patch...It won't stay stuck on me. It always falls off. However, the maker of patch, does offer overlay dressings, free of charge. The overlay dressing is a clear, thin sheet, that is applied over t...

I can't seem to find a straight answer. I'm stopping the 12 mcg fentanyl patch (with Drs instructions). I have 7.5mg Percocet for withdrawal for a few days but everyone is leaving me believe my withdrawal won't be too bad. I called the pharmacist. She said withdrawal will last 48 hours. That seems too good to be true. So, anyone know?! ## It really depends on the person and how long they've been on it, so you may not experience any withdrawal symptoms, or you may experience them for a few weeks, there's no way to be certain. I believe the pharmacist may have been referring to how long it takes to exit your body, which is approximately 48 hours after last use. The FDA warns that possible withdrawal effects could include nausea, vomiting, chills, rebound pain and diarr...

My doctor has me try a 30 day supply of 12 mcgs of duragesic patches. So far, I've used six patches. I want to discontinue them and just stick with my percocet. I dont like how the duragesic make me feel and I miss being able to use my heating blanket as well. I have arthritis all over and it helps me tremendously with that and I can't use the blanket with the patch. :( If I stop using the patch will I withdrawal and will they be pretty horrible? If I have my percocet, will that help me with the withdrawal? Thank you! ## Duragesic is the most potent opiate available, so yes, stopping it may cause some withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea, depression, and rebound pain. The Percocet may help to stave off the worst of it. Ha...
