I am taking penicillin for strep throat, but i find it very difficult to take one pill 4x a day considering all the time I must wait before and after I eat to take them (It just doesn't quite match up with my schedule and I do not want to mess it up). You also run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant baccteria if you use it inappropriately. That said, the normal Penicillin dosing is usually about 3 tablets a day, taken 8 hours apart, but this site is not medical professionals, so you should consult a doctor. The only way it will help with a fever is if the fever is caused by an infection and, even then, it will take several days to have an effect. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. The preferred medication for a fever is usually Acetaminophen, which can start to help within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it. Is there anything else I can help with?
