So I found out that I may have a gum infection and my dentist prescribed me with Amoxicillin in hoping the infection would ease down, as there is a small swelling on my top left side gum and it hasn't seem to settle down. The pain in my gums is excruciating as it comes on in a pulsating form within the two to three teeth parts along the gumline and it will last for about 30-50 seconds and then it will go away. This sort of pain has been ongoing for months going onto a year and I have been to three different dentists and they give me the same answer that its a gum infection? But can a gum infection last this long? I have tried everything of what the dentists has told me to help me relieve the pain but the pain still occurs on a on and off everyday basis, Sometimes what triggers the p...

I just started taking sertaline (zoloft) 8 days ago and i have been experiencing tooth/gum pain i know i need fillings but this just seems different anyone else go through this? ## Do you grind your teeth while sleeping? that can cause tooth and gum pain. maybe it got worse since getting on the drug. other than that, I haven't heard of this as a side effect of zoloft. could be periodontal disease. see a dentist. ## I believe that Martin is on the right track and thank him for his post. SSRIs, such as Sertraline, have been known to cause bruxism, as well as gum disease and bleeding gums. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. I experienced it myself, when I used to take it. Have you spoken to your doctor?...

I have been having gum problems for two years, pain, exposed roots, etc. my dentist would treat me by amoxicillin and antibiotic packs implants along with deep cleaning saying "let's see if this works" I keep asking for a referral to a periodontist but she kept saying we are trying to prevent that but all she is doing is maxing out my yearly coverage (I have great dental plan). I switch dentist and explain to him all that has been done and even brought past records but he didn't want to see them and now He is doing the same thing deep cleaning and antibiotics. I brush all the time, floss all the time, rinse with antiseptic mouth wash all the time. I am tired of taking antibiotics I can't take the pain and I try not to take the prescribed pain medications because of w...

i have been on Accutane for three months now, first two on 20mg and started the 3rd month on 40mg. After upping the dose, I got severe nerve pain in my mouth, initially I thought it was my teeth so I went to the dentist and discovered it wasn't my teeth nor gums (which was a bonus) however the pain lasted on and off for over a week which I can only describe as an intermittent electric shock feeling which painkillers have not helped with. I have tried contacting my Dermatologist but have had no response. Has anyone else had this as a side effect? ## Hello, Catherine! How are you? Yes, that can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, skin rash, abdominal pain, diarrhea and depression. I wonder does anyone else suffer with ongoing everyday pain in their teeth/tooth caused by nerve endings in gums, it took a very long time to get diagnosis for this, and a few extractions by dentist before doctors discovered it was a nerve pain and not a dental pain, I have had this for several years now, everyday in life, its like having a toothache, I had a back tooth removed when it first began as I was insistent it was a toothache, but it only moved into the next tooth, my dentist refused to remove anymore teeth as xray showed there was no problem with my teeth, and the one removed was a very healthy tooth. Ive been to hospitals, see Professors, had RadioFreqency carried out on it going through my cheek, with no success, as wrong nerve was burned off, my GP says it will go away one ...

After very careful consideration and research, I made the decision with my dentist to have a total dental extraction on June 5 2013 and have 4 surgical steel implants inserted in the top into my mandible and 4 inserted into my jaw and temporary dentures screwed into until the healing was done and then go through 5 session of having the temporary dentures removed, molds of the "perfect" dentures made and finally permanent dentures inserted. On June 9th, 2013 I got the sinus infection from hell. I called the dentist and he prescribed an antibiotic. At the time of the extraction he prescribed oxycodo-apap 10-325 tab (mallinckro) a generic for Percocet 10-325 tab. I actually have had very little pain in the area of the extraction (the gums) and from the implants or dentures. The pai...
