I have been on oxycotin 80 mg tid approx.. 14 yrs. I doesn't work as well it does not take care of my pain like it use to. The dr. even gave me about a yr ago oxycodone 15 mg aid. It still is not working .If I was put on dialaudid pills what would be the equivalentand wouldn't it help my pain? the old oxycotin worked great for my 6 herniaed dics but the new OP oxycotin comes no were as near the releif and a shorter pain releaf. i have been on both oxycotin 80mg and opana 40mg, i started off on opana and when they were changeing the ingred. i had to go on oxycotin 80 mg, i will always say opana 40 are alot stronger than oxycotin 80s i get alot more pain relief on opanas, i read all the time its 10mgs of opana to 30mgs of oxycotin i believe it.... ## Hello, Delta! This is not actually an Oxycontin tablet, those are only available as the name brand and would have the OC or OP marking on them, with the number designating the dosage on the opposite side. This time released formulation is also not available in a 5mg dosage. The tablet you have, does contain 5mgs of Oxycodone, but it is the regular release tablet, which is the generic for Roxicodone. Are this the same class meds? Same family? ## Yes, they both contain the narcotic Oxycodone. The difference is that the Percocet combines it with Acetaminophen, in the dose you mentioned it's 10mgs with 325mgs of Acetaminophen and it's a regular release formulation, while the Oxycontin contains 40mgs of Oxycodone, by itself, in a 12 hour time released formulation. Even the ones provided by Ethex Pharmaceuticals are the actual name brand, manufactured by Purdue Pharma, they are just licensed distributors. I am very sorry that you are having a problem with them.
