is taking 2 10mg oxycontin tabs the same as taking 1 20mg oxycontin? ## Yes, it would essentially be the same, though there may be some slight variations, just due to there being two separate pills, so the release rate could be slightly different. Have you been advised to take 2 10mg instead of one of the other? ## I have been taking 1 oxycontin 20 mg twice a day every 12 hrs for over 5 yrs. How long does it take for OxyContin 40mg CR taken twice daily to get in my system and provide full effect? I was prescribed these and am on my 3rd day taking them with 2 loratab 10mg for breakthrough and have received a different effect each time taking the OxyContin-Also, is the 40mg OxyContin a standard dose for someone that has been taking 3 10mg loratab for break through pain with 3 15mg morophine ER daily for continued relief? ## Yes, that is a fairly standard dose, but while it should have some immediate effect, it may take 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in you body. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Has there been any improvement, yet?

I'm taking the 15mg extended release OxyContin for severe back pain and degenerative disc disease as I was switched from 10 mg 10/325 Percocet BUT the switch is not working for me, I have not been getting relief and am still in pain, is this normal? My Dr is giving me a hard time now about writing me the prescriptions and has literally ignored my diagnosis as she claims the state of Vermont is cracking down on these types of meds... Which what the hell does that have to do with me? I'm taking them for the massive constant pain I'm in and still can't even work back to full time yet... So basically I'm being pushed aside as because I told her being my Dr, that it's not working and why can't I take the meds 10/325 Percocet that were working better for my pain th...

I am recovering from an intense spinal surgery and was given an rx for 60 mg oxycontin. I filled it last month at my regular CVS, but they said it was removed from the books, they even called other CVS who checked and said it was removed from their books as well, guessing that CVS doesn't carry it anymore. After checking with 10 different pharmacies, no one has it. One said they haven't had to order that in a long time. I didn't think it was that unusual. But where in the world can I get this filled? Walgreens is not an option as they are not a part of my insurance plan.

I came across some green pills that look like OC 80's but they are imprinted with APO on one side and OCD 80 on the other. Can someone please tell me what they might be? ## I have tha same ones. I heard there generic oxy contin 80mg. Not sure I would like to know aswel. ## From what I could gather, this pill is in fact confirmed to be controlled release Oxycodone/Oxycontin (80mg). The paragraph quoted below describes it in more detail: "APO-OXYCODONE CR 80 mg: Each tablet contains 80 mg oxycodone hydrochloride. Green, round, biconvex film-coated tablets, engraved “APO†on one side, “OCD†over “80†on the other side. Available in bottles of 50 and 100 tablets." Manufacturer: Apotex, Cana...

I found a lil white pill and someone told me it looked like a 10 milligram oxycontin. When i looked the oxy up there is nothing like this related to it. It looks like an over the counter medication. Can someone please tell me what this is.... ## Are there any markings on the tablet? That is what would enable it to be identified. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The FDA classifies Oxycodone as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If there are no markings, then in all likelihood, it is something available over the counter, because all prescription tablets are required to have markings on them to enable their identification. ## No there isn't just ...

I have a white oblong pill with V 3592 on it, is this Oxycontin 10 mg ER? ## This tablet contains Hydrocodone 5mg + Acetaminophen 500mg (NDC 0603-3881). Inactive Ingredients: - Hypromelloses - Lactose Monohydrate - Magnesium Stearate - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type a Potato Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming. Another note that needs to be added here is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination prescription products to no more than 325mgs per dose. There are legitimate concerns about the dangers of liver damage and failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the toxic...

I'm having break thru pain which is seriously painful. What could My pain Dr do? ## Hello, SolidMike! How are you? Since this is a time released medication, your doctor could prescribe an instant or regular release one, in addition to it, to help with breakthrough pain. There are quite a few choices that can be prescribed. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you spoken to them about the problem? ## I I really feel for everyone here that is really hurting and not just seeking a high. my Dr has me on 2 -15Mg Ms Contin per day with 2- percocet 10's. well long story short they aren't helping at all.what is the next step? can't sleep. const...

I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont...

I was on methadone for 7 years my doc and I decided to get of it,I am on OxyContin 15mg q12 hrs along with 10 mgs of narco 10mg 3x a day should this be sufficiently controling my pain? ## Hello, Deb! How are you? What dose of Methadone were you taking? I can't really answer your question without knowing this additional detail. It depends on that and the severity of your pain. Are the new medications working for you? The FDA classifies these as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I'm sorry I was then actuallyon 15 mg of methadone the day I got myself down to that much because I didn't like taking it.but now my pain was not adequately controlled so ...

What type of table is the same as 40 mg oxycontin time release without the time release ## Hello, Joseph! How are you? Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone and it is available in most countries in a regular release formulation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm prescribed 40 mg OxyContin extended release for pain I'm used to taking anywhere from 4-5 perk 10s a day I have a lot of anxiety of weather or not to take this pill it will be taken orally I do not want to her high please reply with information is this to strong what should I expect ext thank you

Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I seriously just took a 30mg op cut in half and it felt like 5 or six of my 10 mg (pink) oxycodone. I believe my tolerance is pretty high and my doctor has me on 8 pink 10's a day. So to answer your question you'd be fine taking half a 40. Don't listen to all the conservatives. Li...

Is oxycontin and Percocet the same thing except without the tylenol ## Yeah. It's usually extended release instead of the percocet, which is immediate release. Not all the time but that's what I've seen. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? No, Raine, you are correct, both contain Oxycodone, but Percocet also contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol and Oxycontin just contains Oxycodone in a 12 hour time released formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything I can help with? ## Is a 18 mg xtampza ER stronger or the same as Percocet 10mg? ## Suzie, Both medications contain oxycodone xtampza er is an extended rele...

I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. NOW, I am really drowsy ALL DAY where I was not at all before after this recent change in script. I also DO NOT get the same pain relief. Seems weird----go up in strength and dosage yet now just very tired all the time and less pain effective too..WHY, WHY?. I have read somewhere that the brand of oxycodone I take (KVK) ESPECIALLY the former 20mg was almost worthless for pain, yet their 10 mg was very effective. When ever I would take 2 of the KVK 10mg in past, it INDEED WAS MORE EFFECTIVE than just O...

Hello~I'm on oxy 80's and dilaudid 4mgs which are prescribed for back pain. The oxys alone don't help at all. I get dilaudids tomorrow, but will be out of oxys. Does anyone know if the dilaudid alone will help? Thanks ## How did it work? Did you get any pain relief? Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, which is very potent, but if you've been taking 80mgs of the Oxycodone, then you'd need 30mgs of it to be equivalent for analgesia. Learn more Dilaudid details here. Learn more Oxycodone details here. ## Hey! I sort of figured out the conversion and was taking 30 mg. or more of Dilaudid a day. I continue to be in around the clock pain. I believe I need to take the Oxycontin and Dilaudid in conjunction with one another. Thanks for responding! ## 10 MGS...
