I am currently taking oxycodone hcl ir 10mg 3 times a day as prescribed by my dr for 4 herniated disks with degeneration in my neck. I have very severe chronic pain in my neck, shoulder, and arm from this. The pills do help with the pain, but only last about 3 hours. which still leaves me in pain a lot of the day. Should I just inform my dr of this, or should I request a certain amount a day? I have been taking this amount for about 5 months now. I am not looking for a stronger pill, just more frequency of taking them. I do not have insurance, and can not afford extended release pills, as they are about 6-8 times the amount of money. I take my pills as prescribed, and do not abuse them. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. It would be best to inform yo...

I have been on perocet 10/325 for many yrs, and now my Dr. Switched me to oxycodone HCl 20mg tablets.my question is, how do I know if it is a extended release or an instant release, as my script says neither on it ? I will be able to fill script in a couple days, and would just like to know, as I heard extended release doesn't work as well.....thank you... ## At this time, there is no generic extended release, that would have to be written under the name Oxycontin. If it is written as Oxycodone, it is most likely the regular release formulation. The np 12 10mg oxycodone hcl pills are just as good if not better than the k's or A's or any other 10mg oxy for that matter..like the previous person said it all matters how your body metabolized the drug...bottomline everyones chemistry is diffrent...ive been on narcotics since i was 16 and I have always hated the "this brand is better than this brand" discussion ## @Grizzy, You have a good point about 'how the body metabolizes the drug due to different body chemistry', as opposed to one brand being "better" than another. I think there are few exceptions though, like when it comes to certain manufacturers using more or less active/inactive ingredients that obviously give it a greater or lesser advantage than other brands/generics right off the bat. A goo...
I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont...
Small pink pill..10 mg..I am allergic to red dye so is it in it? ## Hi Annie, I'm assuming that you're referring to the round pink pill with "K | 56" on one side and blank on the other (made by KVK Tech), is that correct? If so, this 10mg oxycodone tablet is reported to contain "D/C Red No. 27" dye, among the following other inert ingredients: Lactose Monohydrate Corn Starch Microcrystalline Cellulose Silicon Dioxide Sodium Starch Glycolate Type A Potato Stearic Acid I hope this helps!
Is oxycodone 10 mg hcl just as strong as the oxy 10 w/tylonal in them? Does one just have tylonal in it & that's it? ## Tylenol and Acetaminophen are the same thing. Tylenol is the brand name for Acetaminophen. ## @Archangel, A 10mg Oxycodone with the addition of Acetaminophen is most certainly going to be stronger than a 10mg Oxycodone tablet in and of itself. Acetaminophen is just there for those who may need a little more relief. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Acetaminophen + Oxycodone Details Are you not noticing much difference between the two, in so far as your pain levels are concerned?
I've been taking 10mg of oxycodone hcl per day for 2yrs; that down from 30mg 5yrs ago. Last visit to doctor, he wanted a UA. No prob til I was told it was going to be $150!!! I had a few left at home so I walked out. Now I'm out but I have 50mg tramadol. What would be a comparable dose of tramadol to approximately equal oxycodone? ## Hello Teslacoils, Unfortunately only your primary care physician is going to be able to give you accurate medical advise on this kind of situation especially as you have mentioned that you have years of medical history to consider. Self medicating is dangerous and can lead to drug addiction/abuse.
