Oxy Extended Release
100+ Topics FoundCan someone please tell me what this round white pill is that has R/P and 5 on the other side? I know it's a 5mg Percocet but I don't know if it's extended release or quick release? Please let me know ASAP. Thank you. ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone. The tablet in question, however, is manufactured by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 5mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
Is this pill as strong as a OxyContin 80mg? I found it in my new apartment on floor by window ## They are the same. WARNING with no or low tolerance this dose COULD kill. Don't cut it either. Dump it down the toilet. Very dangerous esp to kids or pets. Don't mess with oxycodone at this high of a dose. It's only for ppl with a very high opioid tolerance. ## Actually, without knowing the markings on the tablet, no one can be certain if they are the same or not. From what has been posted, it could be assumed that they are, but only the markings on the tablet in question would enable someone to check and say with any certainty. Learn more Oxycontin details here. Can you post back with more details, such as the markings on it? If so, then I will gladly check the information on it...
Due to my spinal cord injury and paraplegia I use digital stimulation for my bowel program and therefor have the opportunity to feel some of the fecal matter as it comes through my colon. On at least 4 occasions I have found the Oxybutynin 15mg Extended Release tablets entirely intact. As an experiment I placed a tablet in a glass of water for 24 hours and after that time found the tablet intact except for the light coating that dissolved. The remains of the tablet had an almost rubber like coating. The tablet could be cut with a knife and the interior contained a white powder. It seems like the tablets are not dissolving. I have had to increase my dose to two tablets a day instead of one. In the past I was taking 5mg of Oxybutynin 3Xday. What is the mechanism for dissolving the tablets...
I take oxymorphone 10mg ER and after 8 hours or so I feel them wearing off. Can I take them every 8 hours, or do I have to wait the full 12 hours? I know the prescription says every 12 hours, but I didn't know if it was possible to take another one after 8 hours or if that was risk of overdosing. ## Yes, that could create the risk of overdose. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you consulted your physician? They may be able to prescribe something else to help.
I ahve been going to a family orientated pharmacy for my oxycodone 20mg they have the prescription always for me but I have used other pharmacists and it seems that the others have better quality meds are better than the one I go too is it because of different manufacturers and why is that?? ## Yes, it could be, there can be differences between generic medications as allowed under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984. They are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%, but they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand, so it is conceivable that the one you've received is slightly lower in the amount of Oxycodone than the prior one you were taking. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may caus...
Oxycodone in the instant relief form is much better than extended time release. Time release comes on at the wrong times and when you really need pain relief they aren't working. The doctor often prescribes norco for breakthrough pain. Why take 2 pain pills when you can just take the roxy IR and not be so hard on your liver. I've been on pain meds for 10 years. Good luck to all of people suffering from chronic pain like me!
Filed under OxycodoneI was on 60mg of oxycontin 3x a day, and cuz of my insurance company had to switch to 15mg of extended release morphine.. I am very concerned about the pain or withdrawal symptoms. Anyone know if it's the same?? ## Oxycodone is actually one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so to be equivalent in pain relief, you'd need 90mgs of Morphine to match each 60mgs you were taking of Oxycontin. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If you are taking 15mg doses, then yes, you may experience pain and some withdrawal symptoms, which may include nausea, diarrhea, fever and chills. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Wo...
Since MS Contin is now made by Rhodes, I have heard there is a new brand name ER Morphine. Is anyone familiar with this? ## The Morphine ER is not a new brand, that is actually the generic, it has been available for years. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. The original name brand, MS Contin, was manufactured by Purdue Pharma. There is a generic available from Rhodes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Verwon, Rhodes, I know is a generic company ran by Purdue, also maker of Oxycontin, they just switched their MS Contin to Rhodes, who makes very weak generic meds. Do you know if this MS Contin, now made by Rhodes has the same quality as it did when made by P...
I weigh about 110 pounds and I have been dealing with lower back pain from a fall which injured my tailbone and also have pain in my legs. For six years now . I was wondering how strong the morphine 30 milligram extended release was? I have had loratab before and 20 milligram oxycodone. But I certainly don't want to overdose on it. Can someone help me out? I have a fair tolerance to opiods. ## Hello, Sis! How are you? Each 30mgs of Morphine is actually equivalent to 20mgs of Oxycodone, so Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half times stronger, which should give you some basis for comparison. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...
I have been struggling with chronic pain most of my life. I have been taking 3 60MG Extended Release Oxycontin tablets a day along with 3 30MG Oxycodone instant release for breakaway pain. After 3 years of the same dosage it's not working as well as it used to. So my doctor decided to change up the meds a bit. She gave me Morphine Sulphate 60MG ER twice a day and for the life of me I cannot feel this working. It's only been a day but usually I would have pain relief around 30-45 after taking the Oxycontin and then about 3-6 hours of relief. How is this Morphine twice a day at the same MG going to give me the same relief I was getting before AND was already struggling with hence the change to the Morphine? I don't get it, especially after everything I have read falls in line ...
I have Oxycodone 15mg and I want to know if they are extended release? They are green and round with 4811 stamp on one side and V on the other side. ## No, they are not. These are manufactured by Vintage Pharmaceuticals and they list them as being a regular release formulation. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. At this time the only time released formulation of it that is available is the name brand manufactured by Purdue Pharma. Is there anything else they can help with?
The cost is way too high. I though generic oxycontin was coming back. Does anyone have an update? ## Hi, Marty! No, there isn't a generic and under the current regulations there won't be one any time soon. Since it is such a highly abused medication that has an extremely high rate of addiction, theft and diversion, the generics were removed from the market to help keep better control of the supply. If there is only one manufacturer, then it is much easier to know exactly how much has been manufactured, where it's being stored, where it's being shipped and etc. If you need a cheaper medication for pain control that is still time released, you may want to ask your doctor about trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine and there are generics of it avai...
It's my understanding that the manufacturers started making ER (extended-release) tablets that have micro encapsulated beads within the pill that prevent the over release of medication. The reason they did that was due to the trend of chopping the pills into powder and insufflating it recreationally, which can be lethal. ## I agree with your logic, especially due to the widespread stance big pharma has taken against drug abusers. A number of other pain medications (such as Oxycodone) have also undergone their own unique preventative measures in recent years. Although I suppose another reason provoking such change might be for cutting manufacturing costs, as they tend to do so frequently all across the board. Do you know if these new extended release tablets are still in "tablet-...
I need an extended relief med, I have Hep C so do not want any acetaminophen and all this info is coming from the pharmacist I need to find an alternative extended relief pain medication in lieu of morphine or anything with acetaminophen due to my Hep C liver condition; currently applying for disability and all of this is coming from the pharmacist not the actual doctor. ps I live in FL ## Hello, Beckie! How are you? There is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available that's called Oxycontin, which contains no Acetaminophen and there is also a time released pain patch available called Duragesic, which contains only the narcotic Fenantyl, so you may want to discuss these options with your doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and ma...
Given OxyContin Extended Release 40mg per 12 hours in place of Methadone 10mg four times daily. Always given for pain by MD, 20 years now. Initial dose 20 yrs ago was 200 mg daily, got myself down to 120 mg daily, then down to 40mg (all of these in four doses, that took 3 years). I've been on OxyContin ER for one month along with Vicodin for breakthrough and Tramadol. Nothing really works. Can't sleep, eat or care for myself. The reason I'm off Methadone is because insurance said I would need to pay for it and I can't. Back with my parents and they are lost in this situation. On OxyContin I get relief for about 4 hours (after it takes close to an hour to start relief). They are the worst. I just want Methadone back but it has ruined and ruled my life. No marriage, no chi...
What type of table is the same as 40 mg oxycontin time release without the time release ## Hello, Joseph! How are you? Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone and it is available in most countries in a regular release formulation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm prescribed 40 mg OxyContin extended release for pain I'm used to taking anywhere from 4-5 perk 10s a day I have a lot of anxiety of weather or not to take this pill it will be taken orally I do not want to her high please reply with information is this to strong what should I expect ext thank you
I get sick from pain meds and never taken it before! I'm on oxycodone 10mg immediate release, well my doctor added oxycotin 10mg extended release to it. ## Hello, Lucky! How are you? No, you can't cut or break the Oxycontin tablets. They must be taken whole. These new ones are intended to be tamper proof, to prevent someone abusing them, so it you try to cut or break them, you just end up with a pile of gummy goo that retains all the active ingredient in it and keeps its time released properties. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
Is 20mg oxycodone instant release ok to break in half and only take half. It has 12 on one side and NP on the other with a small line on top and bottom. I take the whole thing and makes me feel really sick. So I wanted to break it in half and only take half. ## Yes, tablets can be cut, or broken, as long as your pharmacist has not directed you not to do so. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications? ## While the instant release tablets are usually fine to cut in half, cutting extended-release tablets can be fatal! If you take a 24-hour extended release tablet of oxycodone, it keeps your blood levels constant for 24 hours, as thou...
is the oxycodone 20mg tab with imprint PR on one side and 20 on the other an immediate release tab or extended release tab? ## Hello, JDUB! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 20mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can u chew oxy. Does it have the same affect should you swallow them whole
I'm about to take an oxycontin 15 mg extended release pill for lower back pain and buldging disks. I wanted to know how long the one 15 mg will last so I don't take too much.
