how can I get my doctor to prescribe 160 mg oxycontin? ## There are no 160mg Oxycontin tablets, the maximum available is 80mgs, so you could only total 160mgs in a day, taking them every 12 hours. And, unless you have a possibly terminal condition that causes intractable pain, such as stage 4 cancer, it is highly unlikely that any doctor will prescribe the maximum dosage, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness, headache and constipation. There is no immediate release Oxycodone in that high of a dosage. The immediate release is only available in a 5mg capsule, anything higher than that is either regular release or time released. Use your brain, instead of your Ba@@s! ## Roxicodone can look different depending on who has manufactured it, especially since they are available as generics. If you can post back with the markings from the tablet in question, I will gladly look it up for you and see what it contains. Overall this medication & dosage is effective reducing chronic pain. However, occasionally I have severe breakthrough pain. Does anyone have experience or recommendations of a secondary medication that would be effective reducing the breakthrough pain. Having taken this higher dosage of Oxycontin for so long, I'm having difficulty finding a medication strong enough to reduce this occasional, severe breakthrough pain. ## Ask your doc about adding methadone altho its a pain for withdrawing from alot of docs add it for breakthrew pain. ## @Kev, Something else to keep in mind is that your tolerance continues to increase as well with higher dosages, eventually rending each higher dose ineffective (unless you're titrating down then back up, etc). Found a pill that is round, white, and has AZ286 imprinted on it. Have had two people say its a generic percocet or oxycodone. ANyone know? ## Is it possible that the imprint is SZ 286? I take 160mill of oxycotin 2 times a day and roxi 30 mill every 3 hours for breakthrough pain. What is the difference in the meds? Also I have the generic oxycontin, 80 mill is it different than the brand name? I ask because they dont seem to effect me like the oxys I recived in the hosbital. The generic pill is lite green and oval is this the same ? ## Does the so called generic oxycontin say oc on one side and 80 on the other? I'm switching to 3 40mgs a day of Opana ER and hoping it does better than 80mg of OxyContin twice a day. Any advice or info please ## Hello, Timps! How are you? Does anyone have the problem of after about 10 years Oxycontin doesn't really work anymore? My son has been on 40's for that long after a severe car accident. He broke his back and neck, but they just don't really take the pain away anymore, please help if possibile. Is there something else that would work better? what pharmacies will fill my georgia script in Indina. its for 160 oxycodone 30mg tablets. ## I'm sorry, but there is no way for us to know this information. It can vary, depending on the pharmacy's policies, how much they have in stock and etc. Since this is a controlled substance, some pharmacies won't even fill it if someone lives outside of the county they are located in. I am recovering from an intense spinal surgery and was given an rx for 60 mg oxycontin. I filled it last month at my regular CVS, but they said it was removed from the books, they even called other CVS who checked and said it was removed from their books as well, guessing that CVS doesn't carry it anymore. After checking with 10 different pharmacies, no one has it. One said they haven't had to order that in a long time. I didn't think it was that unusual. But where in the world can I get this filled? I have to find a new pain mgmt Dr asap, my last pain mgmt group stopped taking my insurance last month. Any info on pain mgmt drs in nashville (smyrna, murfreesboro, etc...) or the surrounding cities that will keep me on my current meds? It's taken a year to find the right combo, to control my pain and let me live a semi-normal life. And I know many drs are scared to write for the oxymorphone hcl er. Thank you!
