I would like to know the non generic name of oxycontin. I just had a fussion on the L3 through L5 and a compression procedure on both sides of my lower lumbar. The doctor also prescribed Oxycodone /APAP5mg-325mg tablest (2 every 4 hours) I take the Oxycontin twice daily (1 pill) ## Oxycontin is the brand name, it is a time released formulation of the narcotic analgesic Oxycodone. The name brand for the other one you are taking would be Percocet, it contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen. They are both narcotics and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness. Is there anything else I can help with?

So there is generic Oxicontin. What is it called? I am prescribed 20mg of this 3 times day. What is good manufacturer of this cause I heard so many negative effects from these? Thanks ## Hi Sue, There is no generic Oxycodone Extended-Release that's currently available (at least in the US). Only brand-name "Oxycontin" & "Xtampza ER" fit this role for the time being. There may be other brands as well, but in the US those are the only two I'm presently aware of. OC ONE SIDE OTHER 80 GREEN ROUND PILL ## I can't post a picture for you, due to copyright reasons, however, I can confirm that a pill meeting this description, with those markings is an 80mg Oxycontin tablet. This is the original Oxycontin product. Purdue has recently changed the Oxycontin formulation, to help prevent abuse and the new pills have an OP on them and they have discontinued manufacture of ones with the OC on them. I've noticed many ppl believe that MS CONTIN is connected to OXICONTIN ! FYI, MS CONTIN IS MORPHINE (in generic form ) ! That is correct, there are two different narcotic medications. The Oxycontin contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone and the MS Contin contains a time released formulation of Morphine. The Contin is just used to denote that they are time released. OxyContin is a opiate narcotic. It depends on how long u have been on them and how many u take. That will decide how bad the withdrawals will b and how long they may last. If you are just calling the pharmacies, then you aren't likely to get a straight answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a legitimate customer with a need, or a potential thief. Thus, the only way to really find out is by actually going to the pharmacy, with your prescription in hand.

my med had oc on it for oxicontin but now it has op. What does that stand for ## I am not certain exactly what it stands for, however, it has replaced the original Oxycontin with the OC marking. Oxycontin OP cannot be crush, chewed or broken down. If someone tries, it basically turns into a gummy goo, that is supposed to only dissolve in stomach acid and retain its time released properties. Help I want to know what the heck this is I ordered oxicontin and got darker green oval shaped tablet with one slash in the back they came in a foil thing where you can pop them out. This pill has no crush protection ( ms contine ER) ect... Can it be cut in quarters and used with Oxicontine 30 mg ## Can swim take the purple er protection of a 30 mg MS Contin,cut it in quarters and swallow it. That's only 7.5 a quarter what's the prob. ## I'm not a doctor, but logically, it does make sense to do the math first so you know exactly what you're taking and how you're taking it (if you plan on dividing it up). In that sense, I don't see any harm being done personally. However, when it comes to extended-release medications, I wouldn't recommend tampering with them at all. i had a car accident on chrismas of 2010 and the mri shows that I have 4disk discarnation in my neck and lower back. the doctor from pain managment prescribed me oxicontin 10mg but I take 40mg a day and now I had a motorcycle accident on may 12 2011 and he prescribe me oxicodone 15mg but the problem is that I get severe constipation, I was thinking that if I take less pills with more dosis I wont have the severe constipation so I think 30mg will be better how can I get them.? ## Actually no, a higher dosage would make the constipation worse, it is a very common side effect of these types of medications.
