Oralcon to stop prolonged period bleeding

I am 47 years old and on the 28th August i started spotting on and off for about 2 weeks before my period started. My period has now been going for about 3 weeks non stop. I visited the clinic and they gave me Oralcon and said that I must take 2 white tablets immediately and thereafter 1 a day until my period stops. After the 2nd day of taking Oralcon my period had stopped but I was experiencing terrible stomach pain so I stopped taking the Oralcon and my period has started again. I dont have medical aid and I am unemployed so this is really stressing me terribly. What can I do? Is this normal for someone my age? I accidentally drank my white pill while on my period (Supposed to drink red) without thinking.
