I am 76 years old. I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin 50 MG twice a day for a UTI. On the 11th day I developed a red rash all over my legs, huge hives everywhere which itched incessantly, swelling of face and lips and extreme fatigue. I took my second to last dosage last night, about 4 hours later I was sick and am hoping it’s not interfered in anyway, I still feel a little bit of the uti symptoms after taking my last tablet 4 hours ago (they’re less intense but still there). My doctor prescribed me 100mg 4x a day nitrofurantoin for 3 days. I finished taking them but my diarrhea didn't stop. Last thursday I went to the doctor & they told me I have a UTI. They put me on Nitrofurantoin 2 pills a day for 7 days. I am on my 6th day and I still have to urinate a lot and there is just some discomfort not as bad as before. It doesn't hurt at all when I urinate like it did.
