Hi, i got UTI last month & my gyno adviced me to take Nitrofur Mono Macro 100 mg for 7 days continously(1 tab twice a day).Fianally, i got well after 7 days wid dis medicine & no more infection is there, but now I have not got my period this month and its already over due by 10 days. Also m trying to conceive with my husband..I did preg test as well but it was negative. M having symptoms like nausea, morning headaches, tired ness, dizziness n all.. ANTIBIOTIC ## My wife is 83 years old and has a bladder infection. Her PCP put her on liquid antibiotic because her she can't swallow pills of any kind,(two refills) and it did not her symtoms. He them put her her on Nitro/Mono 100 mg. She has had a lethargic condition along with burning when saud she gort worse and so was switched to the Nitro/ Mono 100 mg twice daily. She developed a new side effect witch is itching with with a rash. I think that it may be brought on by taking her two doses mixed in apple sauce about three hrs. aprart instead of morning and at night before bedtime and lack of adequate hydrat Would anyone who has had experience or suggestions let me know? I am on day 3 OF NITROFURAN MONOHYD MACRO 100MG 100 mg for urinary track infection every 12hrs, I have problems with my stomach and have been prescribed DICYCLOMINE 10MG/5ML. (1/2 hr before meals) Is safe to take while taking NUTRIFURAN? ## Hi Virnia, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Nitrofurantoin and Dicyclomine. So just going off that information alone, I don't think there should be any problems using the two together (outside of each medication's own general side effects). However, if you still have any reservations about taking them, it may be best to call your doctor up and verify that it's ok with him as well. I am 13 weeks pregnant. This is my second time taking this antibiotic within a pmonth n a half. For a Uti. Both times were to take 2 aday for 7 days. The first time i took the med for the whole 7 days. Did not work 100% I waited it out for about 2 to 3 weeks went back for the second set. So i had 1 the first da.y. then I've had the 2 a day for 2 days. And im not feeling any improvements. Sarting to get nervous. Just want this to go away. ## Hello, Bubbles! How are you doing? Congrats on the baby! You should see improvement after taking the antibiotic for a full 3 days. I am experiencing hypotension (72/40) Is this related to the use of this drug? I am calling the doctor tomorrow. Also experiencing nausea. Please help ## This is still Gary...the BP should read 72/40. ## Hi, Gary! Sorry about the issues you're having. Are you feeling any better? The nausea can be a normal side effect of this antibiotic, however, the hypotension isn't. But the question there is whether or not you've had other side effects from it, such as diarrhea? I woke up with a horrible bladder infection on Monday of last week, I went to the doctors and they gave me a perception for nitrofur mono macro. I started taking it the following day, (Tuesday) .. By Friday evening I noticed a small rash on my inner right thigh. I didn't think anything of it because I had shaved my legs earlier that day and I thought it was just a little bit of razor burn.. As the night went on, the once a quarter size rash turned into about a 4 inch in diameter circle in the same spot.. I also has a small rash that looked exactly the same behind each knee and a smaller circle on the other thigh. Along with a patch of it on each upper arm, the size of the front of my whole upper arm, all of the rash spots were itchy.. So I called and had my doctor change my prescrip...

Can Nitrofuran Monohyd Macro 100 mg be used for abscess infections? ## Nitrofurantoin is used primarily to treat urinary tract infections. It also notes in the guidelines that Nitrofurantoin must never be used to treat pyelonephritis, renal ABSCESS, and pyeloempyema because of extremely poor tissue penetration and low blood levels. Based on the above info I think it would be beneficial to contact your local pharmacy and/or doctor to find out if it is right the specific type of infection you are referring to. Hope this helps!

Before I take these pills I would like to know the side effects. My Doctor prescribed them to me but I forgot to ask about the side effects. Are they safe, will the make me feel wired, or am I over exaggerating. I do not like taking pills what so ever and I always feel like I get an anxiety attack or something along that line. I am finishing eight days of nitrofuran 100 mgm twice daily for a UTI. Experiencing some bladder irritation and frequency. Could this be from the drug retained in the urine? Thanks! ## Hello, Tom! How are you? No, it shouldn't cause those types of symptoms, but it may not have been the proper medication to eradicate the infection you had. Just because it treats most such infections doesn't mean it will always treat all of them. The general rule with antibiotics is that if the are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours and then you should start to see improvement within 3 days. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? You may need to try a different antibiotic.

Is taking Omeprazole contraindicated while taking nitrofuran monohyd macro 100 mg? One of the warnings in the information sheet provided for the medication is to "not use magnesium trisilicate-containing antacids while taking this medication." ## Hi Diane, Based on my research there actually aren't any drug interactions listed between those two medications 'in and of themselves'. However, if Omeprazole tablets do contain "magnesium trisilicate" as an inactive ingredient (which I've read that it does from several searches), then it would probably be best to play it safe and adhere to those packaging guidelines; unless of course your doctor instructs you to do otherwise for one reason or another. Any doctor can do so, it doesn't have to be a dentist. The FDA lists the typical side effects of an antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there a difference between Nitrofurantoin Mono/Mac 100 mg capsules and Nitrofurantoin Macro 100 mg capsules? The former is black and yellow with E122 on the front while the latter is gray with Mylan1700 on both sides. ## From what I could gather, both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference I noticed is that they are manufactured by different companies. Additionally, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. Please post back if you do. ## can i open the capsule and take whats inside? i cant swallow pills. ## I know plenty of individuals who have trouble with swallowing pills and need to empty the capsule into water to ingest it. It may however be an unpleasant taste, but if you do it with little amounts of water you can drink it quickly and then wash it down with more water afterwards. I feel like that is the best approach, but feel free to post back if you have any other questions or comments regarding this.

This antibiotic did cause burning in the chest, heart palpitations, disgusting taste in mouth that nothing can get rid of, loss of appetite and diarrhea and vomiting the first day I took it with yogurt. I wouldn't advise anyone to take this medication with dairy. Be sure to have a FULL meal before taking this medication to avoid severe nausea ??
