I took my first Oxy 60 OP. It did not work well...reminded me of the generic ones a few years ago. Will Purdue ever go back to the Oc formula? ## They are not intending to, at the moment, however, many people have been reporting problems with this new formulation not working as well or causing odd side effects. Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I got Cancer of the EPIGLOTTIS, getting treatment with Radiation. New Oxy 30 MG swells up like a sponge making it harder to swallow which make it hang up in the tumor just in front of the voice box, base of tongue. Just when you think you swallowed it with water you cough it out an hour later twice the size it went in. Without knowing it you might cough it up on the street, garbage or toilet. 10 Yrs. ago, 2 profile jobs, all well w/ world. 1/2 ton of product fell on lower back. Basically could not walk 3 yrs. , not 4 lack of effort. Searing, unbelieveable, pass-out pain. I have been taking oxycontin, now since they changed the the formula i am up to 120x2 a day with a breakthough. It stinks i still have pain with the op kind. I tried 100mg patchs of fentanal. this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. I bet they will be pulled & back to the old ones before the year is out ## Pharmacies are allowed to continue to dispense the original product, until their stocks runs out, then all will only be able to get the new Oxycontin OP. I have been on OxyContin 60 mg. 3 time'sa day for about 6 or 7 year's. It woked GREAT. Hello I'm Ken i live in Virginia and been disabled for along time now been on every pain med available seems like but i use to be on oxycontin er the 12hr pill my question is do they still make and or prescribe the real OC in any milligrams here in the states or do they only have and prescribe the new version which is OP cause the oc formula worked good for pain it lasted for me an 80mg lasted about 6to8hours versus the new OP formula which did not help my pain at all it just seem not to work so i had my doctor switch me to another extended release med cause why take something for chronic pain when it never did help i guess it helped me not to get sick so it was useless to me but all ppl differ when it comes to meds or just about anything that life throws at you thanks Ken ## Hello,...

If I take 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone and I have the 60 mg oxycontin. Can you cut a 60 mg oxycontin in half and take it that way to get the immediate effect you get with taking 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone. I have to mail order my medications and there was a mix up and I have been taking for 15 years for chronic pain. how can I get my doctor to prescribe 160 mg oxycontin? ## There are no 160mg Oxycontin tablets, the maximum available is 80mgs, so you could only total 160mgs in a day, taking them every 12 hours. And, unless you have a possibly terminal condition that causes intractable pain, such as stage 4 cancer, it is highly unlikely that any doctor will prescribe the maximum dosage, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness, headache and constipation. I am wondering if there is a manufacturer of oxycontin other then purdue? I am taking oxycontin 80 mlgm, and purdue has changed the medication, and it does not work for me with what they have done to it. ## Actavis is a manufacturer of generic Oxycontin, my insurance will only pay for generic. So I've been keeping my eyes open for the new oxycontin generic to come out since Purdue lost it's patent. But for the longest time nothing emerged, no company was coming forward with a oxycontin substitute. I just saw that Teva brand has made a Oxycontin generic FINALLY. But I can't confirm a couple of things. First is how long has this generic been available? 2nd is I'm getting conflicting info on if they only make the 80mg pill or I'm seeing they make the 10mg, 20mg, 40mg and 80mg (NO 30's and NO 60's)!! And of course the other question, how much does this generic cost? Are they gonna charge a crazy amount of money or are they actually going to be affordable?? Has anyone out there tried these yet? what is in it ## The same thing that was in the original Oxycontin, the active ingredient is still Oxycodone, a potent narcotic pain reliever. This means the side effects are also the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

It has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse, by retaining its time released properties, even if someone tries to alter it. OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. I have PD with alot of broken bones. I have been taking Oxycontin for over 13 yrs. I am now taking Oxycontin CR 40 mg 4 X a day. I just had a refill and got the new type. With the old type I have had no problems. I started the new type this Thursday nite. I had a bad taste in my mouth shortly after I took it.
