Unfortunately the FDA allows the active ingredients in generics to differ by as much as plus or minus 20% from the name brands, so if the company has poor quality control, you could have gotten a bad batch. There are also no regulations requiring that the inactive ingredients, which are used for binders and fillers, be the same at all. They can use whatever they wish for that as long as it is approved for us in drugs.
