SORES APPEAR WHEN EATING ACIDIC FOODS ## Are most of them inside, or outside of the mouth? Can you please clarify? Mouth ulcerations can occur inside your mouth, with acidic foods. They are usually called canker sores. They can be very painful, they get more aggravated with alcohol, tomatoes, orange juice, or anything else acidic, and they may be painful for several days, they can take 7 to 10 days to heal, according to NIH studies. However, if they are outside the mouth, the FDA warns that they may be cold stores, which are caused by a herpes simplex virus, which can also erupt with irritation from acidic foods on the outside of the mouth. Other irritants may also cause them to erupt, and that can include chapped lips, and some medications. Are you on any medications? What does your no...

Starting my third week tomorrow on Chantix and having the same problem I had with it a couple of years ago. About 3-4 weeks ion, I start developing sores in my mouth. Mostly tip of the tongue, inside the bottom lip. Called my Dr. last time and he told me to quit taking the Chantix. I was smoking again within days. I am doing so well on this that I hate to quit taking it, but really can't stand the pain from the sores. Any thoughts? Thanks. ## You should really contact your doctor, because the sores may be the sign of a possible serious and dangerous reaction to the medication. If it isn't dangerous, they may be able to advise you of some way to treat them, or minimize the pain. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## I had the same problem, it seemed as soon as one would go ...

Perhaps a couple of these might be related to your experience? The few side effects listed here are pretty broad in the sense that there's no telling where one might get a rash or hives. It could also be that you're getting an allergic reaction from one or more inactive ingredients in t...

MOUTH ULCERS ## Klacks mouthwash, also referred to as Klax or Clacks Solution is reportedly a prescribed mixture that you must obtain from a pharmacy. Interestingly enough, when I search for these names (noted above) I primarily get results for what's called "Magic mouthwash", so I'm under the impression that this is what it's most commonly known as. Magic mouthwash is indicated for use in treating mouth sores. The following PDF lists all the commonly used Magic mouthwash formulas: mercypharmacy.wikispaces.com/file/view/MAGIC+MOUTHWASH.pdf Most formulas are said to contain at least 3 ingredients but are not limited to: An antibiotic, antihistamine, antifungal, steroid, local anesthetic/pain reliever, or an antacid. It's very painful to eat anything. can't drink through a straw. nothing with suction. what antibiotic can help with this problem? can AMOX TR-K CLV 875-125 mg tab help me get rid of this problem? ## Hello, Tracy! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The FDA lists this as an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections. Common side effects are listed as possibly including, nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. That said, such sores are usually not due to an infection, but rather to something that's irritated the mouth, or they may be canker sores, so an antibiotic won't help with them. Have you consulted your doctor? You need to have this checked out to discover the cause and a proper solution.

I have been taking Xarelto for a month now and as soon as i take my pil, my tongue gets pimples and my lips become red. It is quite painful. ## Hello, Adrian! How are you doing? Has there been any change? You might be having an allergic reaction to the medication. Have you consulted your doctor? Have you experienced any swelling or trouble breathing, after taking it? The U.S. FDA lists those as being addition allergic reaction symptoms. Have you ever experienced cold sores? Some medications can cause a flare up of the virus that causes them. ## Yes i have seen my doctor and will be changing my pills next Sunday. I am going to start Eliquis. Just hope that these pills will make the difference as with both Warfarine and Xarelto the side effects were the same. Not sure if they are cold sor...

Saw doc in April 2015, and was prescribed an oral liquid medication for thrush in mouth. Seemed to subside, but it came back about 5 days later. Doc prescribed pill for same thrush, which I finished. 1 week after finishing, thrush was back, so he gave me the oral liquid again, which I finished. 3 days later it was back, and he gave me the pills once more. I finished those, and started taking tea tree capsules. That has not worked. I started using the Oral B mouthwash with peroxide, which has worked a little for discomfort. I am really tired all the time, and I have horrible, painful sores and blisters in the roof of my mouth, and am at my wits end. I take pain meds for cervical spine pain, and even that does nothing for the discomfort. I wear dentures, when I can, and am very, very care...

I was recently prescribed Bactrim for a badder infection which I've taken before. For some reason every time I take this medication I get an ulcer inside my mouth. Is this a side effect or an allergic reaction? ## Hello, Sophia! How are you doing? Have you consulted your doctor? Antibiotics can cause yeast infections, as a side effect, so that may be what's causing the sores in your mouth. It would be best to have it checked out, as if it is a yeast infection, it will need treatment. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

I tool this medication for one does. 10 days later I started to get pimples on my lips and around my mouth. My lips and around the mouth are covered with these sores. Is this a side effect? I never had these before and I do not have oral herpes. ## Hello, SChan! How are you? Are you certain you don't have oral herpes, as in, has one of these lesions actually been cultured by your doctor to check? A herpes simplex virus can lie dormant in the body for many years, then some medications, including this one, can suddenly wake it up and cause an outbreak. And for anyone worried, there is nothing to be ashamed of, if you have oral herpes. It just happens and, by the time we are elderly, over 85% of the population is infected with it, it's just that many don't break out in the sore...

I am not sure whether the allergy I have could be caused by the intake of Ziak and/or Zanidip. I continually have a sore mouth something similar to cold sores, I also tend to get a sore throat, twice I have had my tongue swell during the night which was very stressful and i have itchiness on my body in patches even my scalp itches which my GP has informed me is an allergy. Could the Ziak; Zanidip or Cymgen 60mg cause these allergies???? I take the Ziak in the morning and the Zanidip at night as prescribed by the doctor. ## Hello, Lynne! How are you? Cold sores only occur outside the mouth, on other areas of the face, such as the surface of your lips, edges or your lips, the chin area and etc. The ones on the inside of the mouth are canker sores and many medications can cause them, thoug...

I am: female, age 30, 'overweight', tobacco smoker, and have been taking 30mg amphetamine salts twice a day for several months. I'm having several weird symptoms. My tongue is white pretty much all the time and a couple times a month taste buds around the tip of my tongue will become red and VERY painful. It is not thrush. Spots in my mouth will seem like it is sloughing off dead skin, as the spots are white and easily come off. During flossing, my teeth (usually fillings) have started to break off and I am acquiring cavities rather quickly. I do keep up with my oral hygiene. ## As reported by the FDA, it has been known to cause sores and white spots in the mouth, as well as causing a tooth disorder. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. So yes, it could be due to...

I have to shave due to hormones around my mouth and I am getting razor sores after a couple of days go by. What can I use? I've tried to put on creams and tea tree oil and now it's swollen. What can I do? ## Hello, Rene! How are you? Are you sure the sores are due to razor burn? It's very unusual for it to take several days to occur, it usually happens within hours, 24 hours at most. Have you ever gotten cold sores or fever blisters? If so, your shaving could be irritating the skin and causing them to flare up. Especially considering the swelling, it would be best to have your doctor check it out to be sure. If you're getting blisters and sores, then this might be due to a herpes simplex virus. Razor burn usually consists of red, irritated and sore bumps, not swelling an...

My mouth palate and tongue feel raw while I am on this medicine, should I stop? ## Trimethoprim + Sulfamethoxazole can cause mouth sores as a severe side effect, but I haven't read anything related to what you're describing. My assumption is that if this side effect becomes too bothersome or persistent, then you should consider contacting your doctor about stopping the medication and opting for a safer or more natural alternative. How long have you been taking it for? ## I have just taken my first pill of Bactrim for a MRSA infection i developed on my arm. Before taking my pills I usually pin them with the underside of my tongue, but where the pill touched is now painful and swollen. My doctor prescribed me valacyclovir.I took the full dose (2 pills in AM, 2 pills in PM of same day.) That was yesterday. My mouth sore is bigger! I have amoxtrk 875=125 as well as ayclovir 800mg (6 pills) Can I take either of these two prescriptions considering that I took valacyclovr yesterday? I really need this mouth sore to disappear asap!!! ## Hello, Jill! How are you doing? Both Valacyclovir and Acyclovir are only effective against the herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores and, once you've already gotten a cold sore, that initial dose you took on the first day is enough. Taking more by adding the Acyclovir will not do anything, nor will it help it to heal up any faster. Basically, once you have the cold sore, you have the cold sore and the only thing that's going to...

oral suspension for mouth sores. Need more information ## Hello, I don't think there is very much info on Mary's Magic Mouthwash out there, but this is what I know from my sister's experience: It's mixed by a pharmacist (not necessarily sold as is like other brand name meds) It may contain Benadryl, an antiseptic, an antibiotic, and a pain reliever Once again, this info might not be completely accurate, this is just what I recall hearing about it. I think your doctor or any really qualified pharmacist should know as well.
