I have been on percocet for about six years, now they want to transicion me to morphine sulfate(ms contin) 30mg, so the pain management doctor wants me to tae both until they can remove me from percocet.... to be onest with you I am afraid, can anyone give me more info.....Thanks ## Transitioning from one narcotic medication to another is usually not a problem, as long as your are given an equivalent dosage of the new one. What is equal in mgs? I have been prescribed a 60 mg. of OxyCotin ER. Now the dr. is suggesting I use 30 mgs. of Morphine Sul ER. Can you give me the mgs. that equals the 60 mg.OxyCotin ER . I have taken off-green color *generic morphine 30mg e.R for a number of years with good results / 4 chronic pain. Now pharmacy is giving me morphine tab - 30mg e.R made by a lab called *mallinkrt. Taking it does bother my stomach, and does not last as e.R should. Seems alot of this stuff being substituted at pharmacies. Twice I've been given this made by mallinkrt lab and it doesnt work. How many hours of pain relief should i get from one morphine sulfate 30mg ir? My recent MRI showed more bulging discs in my back. My pain is worse now. I cant sleep from the lower back pain. I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. I have reduced my pain medication over the past few years from around 8-10 immediate release Percocet a day, (which in retrospect seems kinda crazy for my intractable pain), to 3 morphine er 30's a day, with 2 15mg IR's for breakthrough pain. Desperately trying to reduce them had been MY desire, not doctors. That being said, my constant, chronic pain was hard to manage at 3 ER's a day, so my doctor had raised then to 4 a day. I've been taking 10/325 hydrocodones × 5 per day for a couple of years for pain then the laws changed and, my Dr. prescribed me 1, 30 mg. was just taken off 30 mg opana's and put on ms cotin 30 mg cr can anyone please tell me the differrence between the drugs are and should i experience any changes in my body fromthe change i was on opanas for about 2 years ## Well, the Oxymorphone in the Opana is actually stronger than the Morphine in the MS Contin, it takes roughly 90mgs of Morphine to equal 30mgs of the Oxymorphone, so depending on how often you were taking them in a day, you may actually run into experiencing some pain and withdrawal effects.
