I use minastrin 24e and want to delay my period for an upcoming vacation. I am planning on just starting another pack of active pills instead of taking my four placebo pills. My question is, if my pack of active pills stops on a tuesday (and the placebo pills go wed-saturday, which I will skip). I know I start the new pack of active pills the day after I finish my other active pills, but Do I start the new pack of active pills on the day it says sunday on the pack (first day of pack), or do I skip/throw away sunday-tuesday active pills and just start on the first wendesday active pill? ## There is nothing in those pills that lets them know what day of the week you're taking them, so you don't need to throw any out. You can just take each of the white ones, as you normally would....

Hi y'all, Like a lot of you, I switched to Minastrin 24 from Loestrin last year when L got discontinued. Does anyone know if any insurance providers cover Minastrin 24? I know you can get the discount card, but BCBS has stopped accepting mine and I'm super annoyed. For various reasons, M24 is the only pill I can be on, so I'm kind of stuck paying $60 every month on top of my ridiculous insurance bill. We are about to switch insurance providers, so I thought I'd check before picking one just in case. ## Hi Janelle, You mentioned that Blue Cross/Blue Shield stopped accepting your discount card, but to my understanding, these discount cards are in no way affiliated with insurance companies, so they should not have any say as to whether or not it'll work - as long as it...

Hi! I have been on Minasterin FE 24 for about 1 year now. I had my normal period last month that started on the second day of the brown placebo pills. I started the white pills on the same day I started my period (meaning I didn't take 2 of the brown placebo pills). Am I at a higher risk for pregnancy this month? ## No, those are also placebo tablets, so to speak, they only contain an iron supplement to help prevent women from becoming anemic, due to their menstrual bleeding, according to FDA listings. As long you don't miss any active pills, you should be fine, but it never hurts to check for pregnancy, if you are concerned. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, PMS like symptoms, and irregular bleeding. Is there anything else...

Last period was on Apr 21st. Started Minastrin 24 Fe on Apr 25. Bled for 22 days straight. Stopped taking pill on May 19th. No real period since. Has anyone had issues like this? Help please? ## Hello, Lor! How are you? Have you had a period, yet? The bleeding like that can be normal, when you first start a hormonal contraceptive, such side effects usually last about 3 months, or so and taking it for a bit, then abruptly stopping, could throw your hormones off balance, so your cycle could be off. ## I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MINASTRIN 24 FE MADE ME BLEED FOR 25 DAYS. CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN, AND STOP USING IT.

You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. However, if it continue past 3 months, or worsens, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking lo loestrin 24 fe for almost 2 years and it was switched to minastrin 24 fe, so I have been taking the new version of it for 4 months now. it's chewable so I chew it everyday at the same time. but it says to take it with a glass of water and I don't do that. I just chew it and take a sip of water. is it still effective if I don't drink the 8oz glass of water after it? ## Hello, Kayla! How are you? Yes, that won't alter its efficacy, but you should drink the water to aid your own digestive system. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## yes, If I've been taking it for about 4 months with little or no per...

Just started minastrin ... Just took the second brown pill last night and my period is here... Do I continue taking the brown pills or do I now start the white ones again???? ## Finish taking the pills in the pack daily, you don't start a new pack, until you start a new cycle, so finish the brown ones. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. I started taking Minastrin when Loestrin was discontinued. My doctor assured me that it was the best choice because all of the ingredients were the same. I had zero side effects on Loestrin..so I went with it. Now every time I have intercourse with my boyfriend I get a yeast infection. Currently I have a yeast infection/vaginal irritation that WILL NOT go away. (Haven't had intercourse for 6 weeks...and yes, been tested for STIs) I've been prescribed 3 different medications and I've seen 4 different doctors. I've stopped taking Minastrin and will begin LoLoestrin soon. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this on Minastrin? And most important, did the yeast infections every go away!? ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? Are they certain that it's a yeast infection? ...

This is my third month on minastrin and the first month was a normal period for about 4 days, second month was brown discharge and blood for about 4 days and this month I have not had my period yet after the four inactive pills. Is there anything to be worried about, by not getting my period? ## No, some women stop having periods, while taking oral contraceptives and it is nothing to worry about, unless your doctor sees reason to be concerned. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## If I do not get my period in the next month, should I contact my doctor? ## My doctor gave me a sample pack of Minastrin 24 fe and was supposed to call in the regular prescription to my pharmacy. I have been on loestrin 24fe for about 8 years now. I loved it. No period and no problems with weight gain. Now that I have had to switch I am moody and gaining weight. This is problem because I am in fitness. All the exercise is not helping the moodiness or weight. I don't like this pill at all!! ## Hi Ale, Sorry to hear about your problems with minastrin. Both medications are said to contain the same active ingredients (norethindrone acetate + ethinyl estradiol + ferrous fumarate), so I'm thinking any noticeable differences (that may be having a negative effect) could probably be found in the list of "inactive ingredients" - otherwise known as binders/fillers. However, in cases like this it may be a good idea to speak with your doctor or gynecologist about having your ...

My daughter is 15 and has Down Syndrome. She has been on Minastrin 24 FE for a year to control her heavy bleeding. The doctor started her on these and told us to only give her the white pills everyday skipping the brown pills. That this would stop her cycles. She has not had any monthly cycle nor breakthrough bleeding. She developed signs of a UTI and yeast infection 12 days ago and was put on an antibiotic and a single dose yeast pill. She started spotting two days later today is da ten of that spotting. I plan to call the dr Monday if it hasn't stopped. Has this happened before to anyone? ## Hello, Debbie! How is your daughter doing? Has there been any change? Many antibiotics can lower the efficacy of oral contraceptives, which may result in spotting, or a full on period, accordi...

Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. However, unless your doctor sees a reason to be concerned, it is usually nothing to worry about and will not affect your ability to have children in the future. Hi, I have been on this birth control for about 4-5 months now, my periods were extremely light before i started the pill, usually only about 3 days long but i had very bad cramping. Since i began the pill my periods havent lasted more than a day but they have been pretty regular, this month i havent gotten my period, is this a problem seeing as though my periods were so light before? ## No, not unless your doctor feels there is reason to be concerned. Some women just don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Hello, I have taken Minastrin 24 Fe for at least 3 years now. I have not had any trouble with it but November of 2015 I missed a period. My periods resumed again in December 2015 and have been normal and on time since then. It is now February 2017 and I am waiting for my period to start. I took my last brown sugar pill today. I should have started two days ago. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I take my pill the same time each day and have never missed a day. ## If you haven't missed any pills, there really shouldn't be any reason to worry, though there is never any harm in checking for pregnancy, if you're concerned. The FDA does list missed periods, or irregular ones as being possible side effects of oral contraceptives. Has there been any change?

I have been taking Minastrin 24 fe for two months and was swallowing the pill. but I just read on the pack that it's supposed to be chewed? is it still effective if I have been swallowing them? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, that should still be fine. Chewing them just helps you absorb it faster than swallowing, but they will still work. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It may be okay for you to continue swallowing them whole.

Hi, I have been on minastrin fe for about 8 months. My period has always been normal. However, this time for the last 3 days of when I was supposed to be on my period I've just had brown discharge very very light. Several days (starting with the time change) I took my period at varying times between 10am and 11am. Should I be concerned? Is an hour time difference a big enough one to make the pill not effective? Is brown discharge normal? I took a pregnancy test on the second day of the brown discharge and it was negative. What do you think? ## Hello, Emily! How are you? Has there been any change? According to the AMA, brown discharge is usually just old blood, sometimes not all of it is expelled during your period, so it comes out later, before, during, or after your next period. If...

Hi, I have been taking Minastrin 24 for 6 months now and when i first started taking it I would get my period twice a month for the first two months. (during the white pills and brown) then I would still get it twice but really lightly. but for the past two months its been really light for 2-3 days twice a month. Am i pregnant?!?!? I've also been very stressed out with work for awhile and i know that makes it irregular. ## If you haven't missed any pills, it isn't very likely that you're pregnant. It can be normal to have irregular bleeding, very light periods or to skip periods, when taking oral contraceptives, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Some women stop having periods entirely. Is there anything else I c...
