I started metoprolol about 6 months ago, and after a few weeks on it, I started having pain in my upper legs (thigh area) and sometimes lower legs. I complained to Dr and they say it’s not from the med. I never had a leg problem and it’s getting worse. After sitting, when I get up my legs feel heavy and painful. Had anyone else had anything like this? ## Hi Jojo, Sorry to hear about your situation. Leg pain unfortunately isn't listed as a side effect of Metoprolol on NIH.gov or Medlineplus.gov. However, they do list swelling (inflammation) of the legs, which I believe in turn can correspond to pain. I was on Metoprolol XR for 6 months, the most consistent dose was 50 mg once/day. I had many of the common side effects - fatigue, headaches, muscle pain - but the most distressing has been the cold hands and feet along with an intense burning feeling along the nerves in my arms, legs and face. I tapered off over the last month I was on it, but the nerve pain seems worse. I have been completely off the med for only 3 days now. Has anyone experienced this? Does it get better or am I doomed? I'm only 33 with 2 young boys. I would like to be able to enjoy them! ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you had from this medication. Yes, if it was solely due to the Metoprolol, it should go away entirely, but it may take a couple of weeks to fully taper off. Th...

I was having heart palpitations and the dr suggested I see a cardiologist for them. 4 days before I saw her I was having episodes of them along with some chest pain and at one time blue nails. It all subsided now. My pulse rate and BP were good but because heart disease runs in the family she put me on metoprolol 25 mg split in 2 doses and told me to go to the hospital if my pulse went down to 60. It did, so I went to the hospital, had all tests done and everything was normal. They even gave me an angiogram with no problem there, but my pulse continued to fluctuate between the low 40s to 50s. My primary stated she gave you this for heart palpitations and to get off of it now. She did something wrong and she never told me why I needed to go to the hospital if my pulse went down to 60. My doctor just put on Metoprolol ER Succinate 25 mg is this part of the recent recall? ## Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to treat hypertension and some cardiac problems. As to whether or not it was part of the recall, I can't tell you anything, without knowing the manufacturer of the particular pills you have receive, since this a generic that is made by several different companies and not all were involved in the recall. However, it is doubtful that they are, since your pharmacy would have already removed anything that met the criteria of the recall from their shelves and returned them, so they are not dispensed to the public. Can metoprolol 100 cause ear pain ## Hi Roy, Metoprolol doesn't appear to list any adverse effects associated with ear pain in particular. However I have noticed a number of reports from users taking this medication who experienced what they call a "pulsating/ringing/buzzing" sound in the ear. That said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it does cause ear pain in some patients as a result of this low/high pitch frequency. If it has become too bothersome or severe, I would just suggest contacting your doctor and/or reporting it to the FDA's MedWatch (Adverse events) program online at fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch. Do you think the ear ache could possibly be related to something else as well? Or does it only happen when you take this medication? ## I have been on metoprolol ...
