I was give this for a cough/cold. My symptoms are not that severe, so I was thinking of starting with 3 pills and tapering to 2 then 1. Is this dangerous? ## I was just prescribed this med. and am afraid to take it. ## Why are you afraid to take it? It is generic prednisone which is a steroiod. I have 20mg prednisone tablet 3 tabs daily x3days, 2tabs dailyx3 then 1 tab daily 3x daily. This is going to be 2 strong for me can it be cut down the dose or can I cut the pills.? I am a 30 year old female and in the beginning of March 2013 I got terribly sick with some sort of cold paired with a severe sinus infection. I was prescribed Methylprednisolone 4mg dose pack. I completed that with only minor side effects however it didn't really work and I was back at the doctor a mere week later feeling just as bad. I was then prescribed Prednisone 20mg tablets, taking 3 daily for 5 days. It helped my symptoms and I felt better.
