Methadon Syrup

I feel horribly sick w/cold symptoms & VERY congested I was given this by a friend whom had said she was given the syrup fir VERY similar symptoms. I just don't want to throw myself into withdrawal or have any awful side effects... Plz help & thank you for taking time to help me out... ## If you're only taking these meds a couple of times I wouldn't think that you'd experience any withdrawal symptoms. However there's no guarantee that you won't experience side effects from them, because these drugs can and do effect everyone differently. I need to know what Methadone syrup looks and smells like. I have a bottle of syrup and am not sure if it is Methadone or Codeine. ## Hello Lee, Do you have a brand for your syrup? Methadone syrup comes in different colors depending on strength and brands so I would need to know that information to give you an accurate answer. Otherwise you would need to have it taken to a pharmacy to see if they could identify the liquid for you.

Is it like water or thicker ## From what little information I was able to find, it is noted to be made from a syrup base by many manufacturers; meaning that it would be a thicker consistency than water. A liquid formulation ingredient list may look like this: Methadone Hydrochloride (HCL) BP 1mg/1mL Glucose syrup Green S (E142) Tartrazine (E102) Sunset Yellow (E110) Parabens (preservative) Ethanol Trace chloroform water. There are other mixtures as well that use different syrup bases like Sorbitol syrup or Unpreserved syrup. Additional information that I gathered states that "different liquid formulations only alter the medium in which the methadone is dissolved and will therefore have the same effect on the client." I take these for chronic back pain and I have a bad cough so doc gave me this cough syrup but it was new clinic n didn't ask what else I was on and I'm so sick it slipped my mind as well ## Well that would be adding another narcotic to the mix, since Codeine is one of the ingredients. As I'm sure you're aware, they can all cause depression of the central nervous system, so they more you take, the more risky it gets. I've been taking Methadone for over 10 years. Recently I've noticed some days it tastes like the Methadone red and some days tastes like a cherry flavored cough syrup (e.g. Tussionex)? Could the nurses be tampering with my medication? I'm sick of all the clinic's B.S. ......In Philadelphia...A.M.H.A. ## Is it still working for you, regardless of the flavor? If so, then I doubt anyone is tampering with it. They may just use different flavoring sometimes. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? I know not everyone receives red Methadone liquids.

Been on 90 mlg. methadone for 6 months, having severe constipation. Looking for something to help my opiate addiction that doesn't cause severe constipation. ## Hello, Iceman! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, all opiates, inducing those used to treat addiction can cause constipation as a side effect. Along with the risk of being habit forming, the FDA lists their other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Have you consulted your doctor? I've been going to the same methadone clinic for years now and have all my take-homes ( i pick-up once a week). For the past 2 weeks my doses have tasted VERY different! Also, I've been having symptoms such as, headache, dizziness, fatigue, skin issues, and general malaise. So, I happen to know, from chatting w a nurse, that they use lysol disinfectant to clean the thermos dispensers ( 1 holding water, 1 holding cherry syrup) they use these to water-down or flavor your methadone dose. Well my take-homes have water added, from these dispensers, and now have the uncanny smell and yes taste of lysol... I want to get a prescription for methadone syrup in Pakistan to detox from opiates. I had detoxed successfully when I was in Canada, but it is not available here in Pakistan and I don't know what to do?

I need help from the ER with maybe some lortab cough syrup due to being extremely sick with bronchitis but I'm afraid they'll drug test me and see I'm on methadone. I know honesty is the best policy, but I'm in agony and really need something more from ER so can u tell me if the methadone will show up? And if so will it show up as morphine? I am a 32 yr old woman on 65mls of methadone. I have been on it for the past 10 yrs. I get dosed the pink liquid sometimes and sometimes the yellow syrup. Is there any chance morphine will show up in Victoria's DHHS's supervised urine drug screens? I'm also taking Xanax and a antidepressent called Lovan. OK, first of all right now I am fuming. I am mad and upset because I have been off of heroin for over 3 years and been on methadone maintenance the whole time. I have never once in all this time failed a drug test or had any issues. I have not used anything at all. Today, I go in to get my dose and weekly take homes.
