Hello - I have been on Depakote for about a month now 125mg 3x a day. It's working OK (I preferred Tegretol TBH, but developed a severe allergic reaction to that med.) I just got my period for the first time since being Rx Depakote and the amount of cramping pain I am experiencing is much, much worse than normal. (It woke me from a dead sleep, doubled over in pain, cold sweat, constipated.) I took 1000mg of ibuprofen after it woke me up after having taken 1000mg of ibuprofen 4hrs before (the ibprophen dosage is nomal, but usually at 6-7 hr intervals, not 4 hrs) I currently weigh 270lbs (I am experiencing a bit of weight gain and some edema in my legs)... Does the antispasmodic drug Spasfon prevent or stop ovulation? If so, can it be used for menstrual pain? ## Spasfon (Phloroglucinol/Trimethylphloroglucinol) is an antispasmodic drug marketed for use in the treatment of painful spasmodic manifestations stemming from the GI tract, biliary tract, bladder and uterus. It is also touted for use in treating painful menstruation. However, there are no official statements from the manufacturer or within medical literature depicting its use in preventing or stopping ovulation altogether. In my understanding, this medication simply makes one's period easier to cope with due to being in less pain. I hope this helps answer your question.

You should check with your doctor, before taking anything, but you should be okay to take Tylenol. Just not any of the NSAIDs, such as Advil or Aleve, since they can increase the risk of bleeding. As to this medication, the Dicycloverine and Paracetamol in it may help some, but Simethicone and Dimethicone are unnecessary and aren't going to do anything. Usually, they are best helped by taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen. But none of these will actually 'cure' the problem. The only way to do that is to discover what's causing it and, unfortunately, most doctors just act like it's normal for them to happen and they don't do any testing to get to the root of the problem. I have been on norethindrone for 5 years from abnormal menstrual bleeding. My doctor told me I could stop taking it at any time to see if I have gone through menopause yet.
