i guarantee it is addictive. I went off thinking it wasn't and suffered worse withdrawals than coming off oxycocdone. ## Lyrica, which contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, is an anticonvulsant, which is also used to treat nerve pain, anxiety and as a mood stabilizer. It is not a narcotic, however, it has been known to cause withdrawal effects in people that have been taking it for a long period of time, when they stop taking it abruptly. This happens, because your body gets used to anything you ingest on a regular basis and if you stop using it, your body has to readjust to not having that substance. It is called dependence. More details: Have things improved for you? ## Lyrica is addictive in the extreme. But true: Lyrica not a narcotic. It is an anti-convulsant with sedative...

I am allergic to sulfa drugs but not sure if I can take this medication. I Have had knee surgery, have RSD, and degenerate bone disease in back, can I take Lyrica if allergic to sulfa drugs? ## Hello, Marye! How are you? Was the prescribing doctor and your pharmacist aware of your allergy? If so, there should be nothing to worry about, because they will check medications for you. Lyrica itself is not a sulfa drug, however, I can't check the inactive ingredients for you based just on the color. What are the markings on the capsule? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain.

Use of this drug to for pain suppression from sciatica pain ## For fibro:I was on 25mg of lyrica then upped to 50mg. Had lots of blurred vision on the 50mg, which progreesed to loss of concentration. Unfortunately, no one can tell you whether or not it will help him, the only way to know that is by his actually taking it to find out how it works for him. There should be a cheaper generic available, though. And it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have paid for my prescription. I haven't started it. My md said to wait until I have two days off to start. So by taking lyrica 50mg 1 st time how long should i be tired? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? Being tired and drowsy is a possible side effect of taking it, but if you experience it, it will most likely occur off an on for a few weeks, not just 2 days. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## There are tons of symptoms, I actually had issues with my speech, sight and hearing and any others. I just got on Lyrica 50mg twice a day and my pain has pretty much dissapeared. I have been reading alot of really bad stories about it, but everyone seems to be taking much higher doses than i am, i was wondering if anyone knows if i stay on a low dose if i will have these horrible side effects i have read about ## Actually, the worse of the side effects should be experienced during the first month of us, they start to taper off and get less severe after that, except for in some rare cases. If you haven't had any really bad ones, so far, then you are probably doing okay with it and might only experience them if you have to increase your dosage. Also remember that medications affect different people in different ways, so you may never experience some of the problems that other people...

You are not supposed to drink while on Lyrica. I made the big mistake of doing that. I took my dose in the morning and then got invited by some friends to go out. I do not usually drink, but started drinking around 9:30 pm. I was found in an alley behind a restaurant at 4 am. The last thing I remember was last call at 2am. I am only posting this to give a VERY strong warning not to drink while on this medication. Luckily I am OK and still alive. It is a horrible feeling to not know what happened in those 2 hours. Please do not drink while on Lyrica. ## I have been on Lyrica at various strengths from 200mg/day down to 50mg/day. I drink (probably more than I should) but I have never experienced any problems drinking the equivalent of 5 or so drinks while on this medication. I have experie...

I caused some sort of nerve damage to my knee in May of 2014 by walking the treadmill every other day. I first felt a mild soreness in my knee, but then one night, I was waked up by a huge pain emitting from my knee down my calf. From then on for over 4 months I was in severe pain 24/7. Could not sit in anything but a straight chair and that for maybe 15 minutes. Could not ride in a car for more than a few seconds before a knifing pain took over. I was pretty much bed bound with my leg up on a pillow. Even eating a meal at the table was hard. Went to three different orthopedists, all of whom felt the problem was arthritis. Then I thought, "No way." And I went to a neurologist who immediately put me on 50mg of Lyrica. Then on 100. After a month, about half the pain was gone, then...

He said I should just go cold turkey. Is this true? If now what do I o. ## Hello, Honey! How are you? That's a low dose and you haven't been on it for very long, so there shouldn't be any serious issues with stopping it, as long as your doctor said that it's okay to do so. If you do run into any issues, please be sure to contact them immediately. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi honey... I need to Respectfully disagree with Verwon's reply. Three months on that dosage is enough to cause issues with possible seizures along with other problems. It may not, but I had a similar situation where ...

Can trepiline be taken after I have stopped taking lyrica? ## I have taken Lyrica 50mg at night for a week. My doctor feels it is not necessary as it is not working. Do I have to taper off to stop, or can I just stop? Also would I be able to take 10mg trepiline once I have stopped the Lyrica or will I have to wait two weeks before commencing it? ## What has your doctor advised? I'm not seeing any serious issues between switching from Lyrica to Amitriptyline, but you should follow whatever instructions your doctor has provided you to get the best and safest outcome.

I take Lyrica 50mg 3 times a day. I can fly off the handle and have a short fuse and I'm beginning to think it's the Lyrica. ## Hello, Dan! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem you're experiencing. Yes, this class of medications has been known to cause mood swings, as a side effect, in some people that take it, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and weight gain. Have you informed your physician? You may need to try a lower dosage, or to try a different medication. Though, I must caution you against stopping it abruptly, since that could create the risk of seizures. ## Yep, just happened to me and I got on-line to see if it was possible to have a anger side affect. I took it an hour ago and have had 3 anger outburst over nothing. This ...

I have been taking Lyrica 50mg 3x a day for idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet for the past 5 years. It works very well for me and I have -0- side effects. When I miss a dose my legs start burning and I become aware that I missed my dose. I also am able to get my Lyrica for free from Pfizer. ## Awesome! So very glad that it is working so well for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood changes, and weight changes. You haven't experienced any of them? That's amazing! Has anyone else had such a good experience with this? ## No, but then again my dose is rather low— 50 mg. 3 x a day ## I think most of you who are experiencing all the side effects mentioned in this forum would benefit if they lowered...

I want to know a little about Lyrica medicine, all about its reaction, how to withdraw, etc ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that's also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes and drowsiness. You can also discover more Lyrica details here. As to withdrawing, it should be done in a slow taper, after you've been on it for awhile, since a sudden withdrawal may cause rebound symptoms, as well as cause the risk of seizures. Are there any other questions? ## I was on 300mg a day for years. In 2006 I had surgery for a pinched nerve in the L5-S1 area which was a success. About 2 years ago the symptoms I had when I had the surgery slowy started to come back over time. Earlier this year I had an MRI and went to see an Orthopedic Surgeon (same one that did the original surgery). He said that there are 2 meds for me to try, Diclofenac-Misoprostol & Lyrica. First stated with 50mg of Diclofenac twice daily for a few months, it helped somewhat so after seeing my GP it upped it to 75mg twice daily, not a big difference from the 50mg. The next step for me to take is Lyrica, after seeing the adverse effects on a local TV commerical I am wary of switching to this. Working up high on ladders is part of my job so getting dizzy and not being able to focus is not a good thinkg to have...

My pain dr recently started me on 50 mg of Lyrica. If the 50mg doesn't help what mg should I take? I have deep sore stiff pain and it only hurts worse when im walking or standing to wash dishes. They say I have osteoarthritis in my back and knees and they are rubbing bone to bone. What should I tell my pain dr.? Please help me. ## Hello, Verna! How are you? Well, the best thing to do is to give the Lyrica a chance and see if it will help you, or not. How long have you been taking it? It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes.
