65 Topics FoundThis tablet reduces body weight by removing water from body. I have lost 12 kgs in 8 months with dosage of one tablet per day in morning. Are there any other side effects apart from this?. ## Hi, Mohan! This medication is actually not intended to be used for weight loss. It contains Losartan, which is an ARB that's used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions, as well as Hydrochlorothiazide, which is the diuretic that helps remove excess fluid. And yes, there may be other side effects, it is processed through the liver, so there is a chance that long term use could cause liver damage. You may also experience dizziness and nausea due to your blood pressure going low. An even bigger concern is dehydration if you're removing too much fluid from your body. L...

I have been taking medicines for BP. The medicines is changed from one to another like Ramipril 5mg, Losarton Sodium 50mg, Telmisartan 40 mg, etc. I want to know is there any problem in changing the medicines or one should I stick with only one medicines. Please advise. ## Yes, you should find one that works for you, without causing a lot of side effects that make you miserable and stick with it. When you keep switching, your body doesn't have a chance to get used to any medication and for it to reach its full level of effectiveness. Additionally, stopping one abruptly to switch to another may cause a rebound effect, which means your blood pressure and heart rate can bounce back up, so you kind of negate any effect the medication may have had. What medication has your doctor recomme...
Been taking 100mg Losortan along with 10mg of Amlodopine for some time now and the side effects I can no longer deal with. These pills actually made matters worse. Dr. took me off Amlodopine but truth is I had to STOP both. Slowly killing me with side effects of both. How long before the pills effects are completely out of my system? Taking Hawthorne and Grape seed extract actually works better without nasty side effects. ## I've been on 150 mg Losartan for quite a few years. I find it's no longer effective in controlling my bp. My brother just started on losartan and I have yet to hear ...

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Do you have a BP monitor of your own? Hav...
On Losartan .5, less than 3 weeks In newly taking Losartan (no adverse side effect symptoms) average blood pressure has increased moderately during this time period . Physician advised. Curious if this experience was repeated in any clinical drug trials or other patients with a subsequent longer term use of the Losartan reversing the trend line to lowering BP. ## There is always a risk that any given medication could cause the opposite of its intended effects in some people that take it. It is not very common, but yes, the NIH and the FDA both note that it is possible and has happened, before. It may be that it is not the right medication to help you and you need to try something else. There are many blood pressure medications available. Has there been any change? ## Thanks for the feed...
Hi i was on Amilodipine 10mg for about two years but was having bad side effects, so in April last year my Dr. Put me on Losartan 100mg. I feel better on Losartan - less tired but still have side effects, dry cough and now short of breath which i never had before also get up about three times in the night to use the toilet. My bp on losartan is average around 130/80 100 pulse. I am 61 yrs of age. I did try to lower the dose for a week by taking 50mg but my bp started to creep up again so i returned to the 100mg dose. I have recently moved to Russia but will have to go to uk in May to tie up a few loose ends. I hope to visit my gp then. Thank you.

The dry cough usually necessitates a change of medication, because unlike other side effects that usually go away with time, it tends to stick around. Other side effects, as reported by the F...
