Is it safe for me to take Lipozene while i'm on Prednisone? ## Hello, Ron! How are you? Lipozene is not an actually medication, it is an over the counter supplement, so it has not been checked for possible interactions with them. Prednisone can cause some pretty serious side effects itself, such as nausea, headache, elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure and fluid retention, so it's likely best not to add anything you're unsure of, while taking it. I have been taking Belviq for almost 3 wks now and dont feel it working like it should. I have Lipozene that i bought a gew mths ago and wonder if its safe to take both together? ## Hi Stacey, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Belviq (Lorcaserin HCl) and Lipozene (Glucomannan). Based off this info alone, it doesn't seem like there would be any issues with taking them both together. However I still think it would be wise to inform your doctor of anything else you're taking alongside whatever he/she prescribes... that way your doctor can at least have your back if anything rare/unusual does happen (god forbid). I take four 500 mg of metformin a day. ## @Pumpkinb, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are interactions listed between the active ingredient in Lipozene (Glucomannan) and Metformin. These precautions note that 'taking Glucomannan with an anti-diabetic agent may cause blood sugar levels to drop too low'. Furthermore, taking the two together can reportedly increase your risk of certain side effects. And lastly, they also recommend contacting your doctor if you were to experience any of the following symptoms while taking these two substances: blurred vision, confusion, headaches, excessive sweating, nervousness, jitters or shakes. I had bariatric surgery in 2016. I lost 100 pounds, but since then I've gained 20 back and still have 70 to go. Can I safely try taking Lipozene? ## Hello DeeDee, According to the NIH and the Lipozene website there are no "interactions" between having this surgery and the medication, however, due to the fact that the surgery places a band it is unwise to do anything that could stretch the stomach. Lipozene works by stretching your stomach and making you feel full, which could be dangerous with a band installed. I personally do not think this is a good idea but there are no general warnings I could find on lipozene saying you can't. I take 4mg of Warfarin 5 days a week and 5mg of Warfarin 2 days a week. I take 10mg of Lisinopril once each day. I exercise daily and try to eat right, however I can't seem to lose any weight. The manufacturer claims, but has not been proven or accepted by the FDA, to aid in weight loss, balance blood sugars and relieve constipation. I take Lortab for chronic pain, Gemfibrozil for high cholesterol, and Bupropion for anxiety. I have gained 40 lbs. I am takin latuda for bi polar. Can I take lipozene ## @happyturtle, From what I can tell, apparently there are no verifiable ways to check for drug interactions between pharmaceutical meds such as Latuda (lurasidone) and OTC diet pills like Lipozene. But if I were you, I would probably notify your doctor first anyways, since patients are generally supposed to inform the doctor of any additional substances you're using alongside the medication that he/she prescribes you. This is for your own safety. I will say though, that in my honest opinion (not to be mistaken for medical advice), I don't think there would be any complications with taking the two together since they both act on different parts of the body. However this is because Lipozene (Amorphophallus konjac) is an OTC dietary supplement; a category that isn't generally accounted for when it comes to reputable information on potential interactions with pharmaceutical drugs. For that reason I'd encourage you to contact your doctor first and foremost before taking anything that he/she hasn't prescribed or recommended. is it safeto take this medicine if you are on blood pressure meds that also has a diaretic in it? ## It really depends on the exact ingredient of the blood pressure medications. I did check the interactions between Metformin and several of them and, so far, they have all come up with the same warning that if the patience experiences any type of renal impairment and dehydration, it can increase the likelihood of Lactic Acidosis. Have you asked your doctor or pharmacist about this?
