So I have been taking levothyroxine 25mcg since December 2011. I definatley have been feeling a little odd but haven't noticed an increase in energy yet. Anyway my main concern is that I got my menstrual in January and it seemed normal which means it lasted about 7 days. This months not so much I have had my menstrual cycle since February 11 and it just won't go away, that is 15 days already. Does any now if this is a normal reaction or what. Has anyone had similar experiences. ## Have you consulted your doctor? It is a Thyroid hormone and I do know that they can sometimes throw you menstrual cycle off, when they are out of whack, even though there aren't any specific warnings about it with this medication. However, I'd recommend talking to your doctor about it, just to ...

I have hypothyroid and I've been taking levothyroxine for more than 5 years and I started liothyronine 25 mcg a week ago. I was hoping to feel all good by now but it hasn't happen. I'm 40 years old male. I'm tired of being tired, I can't focus on this like a normal person and feel very overwhelmed about this. It's been more than a year feel very tired, anxious, feel like my brain works only 25%. Does anyone have an advice, suggestion, or had any experience with this medications and how long would it take to feel better? ## @RHYH, Sorry to hear about your situation. I for one think the medication should've been working by now if it was ever going to. 5 years is a very long time to wait for any kind of results in my opinion. However it seems to me like it would...

I was first put on Levothyroxine 100mcg Mylan (9/2011) had to go off meds (lost insurance) re tested this week and was immediately put on Levothyroxine 25mcg San. I couldn't find orig script at the time of my appt. should I tell my Dr about what my orig script was or just take what she has percribed. ## The dosage is based on your levels at testing, so you should take the one that is prescribed. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, hair loss and weight changes. Your doctor should check your levels every few months and adjust your dosage accordingly. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I just got diagnosed this week with hypothyroidism. This is my second day of taking 25mcg of levothyroxine. I am expericing a decrease in appetite with little interest in food. Which is highly unusual for me. Is this normal to have such a quick reaction to the medication? ## It's possible to have that happen, medications can affect everyone differently. Someone else may not experience any side effects, or they it may take weeks for them to manifest, while you may experience them right away. That's just the nature of adding such chemicals to the body. Learn more Levothyroxine details here. This is often seen in people that are sensitive to a medication. It frequently happens to me if I have to switch or take a new one, too. However, if it lingers for more than a few weeks, or...

Hi everyone, I'm a sufferer from hypothyroidism; I was just wondering about how to take Levothyroxine; because I began taking it as one tablet of 25mcg....working up to two...then three...and then finally four 25mcg tablets, at which point a blood test told me through my doctor, that my thyroid was now apparently working well. I figured it would be OK for me now to take just one tablet, of 100mcg, rather than four ( was given a choice of both types). So once my 25mcg tablets started running to run out, that's what I did. However, whether I imagined it or not, I found myself happier on the four X 25mcg than the one X 100mcg. Is this normal? Should I worry? I have more or less run out of the 25mcg tablets for the time being...any suggestions what I might be going through, and what...

I just started taking Levothyroxine 2 wks ago my legs and feet are swollen so bad by nite I can barley walk. They go down a little at nite but swell back. I am taking 25mcg and I am afraid to continue taking this med. Has any one else had this problem? ## Have you contacted your doctor? It sounds like you might be having a bad reaction to this medication and it may not be the right one for you, or may be too high of a dosage. Generally, the symptoms of a dosage being too high will start to manifest 6 days or so, after you start taking it and this type of fluid retention can be one of them and there is a chance that it could lead to congestive heart failure, if that's what's causing it and it isn't rectified. You should really contact your doctor immediately. ## I am on medic...

I have been taking Levothyroxine 25mcg since July of 2010 and have been doing well on it. I have been wondering, being that the name of the med is "Levothyroxine Sodium", exactly how much (if any) Sodium is in the pill according to the dosage amount? Being that i'm trying to watch my sodium content i'm really curious about this. I have searched, and searched on the web and cannot find the answer i'm looking for. Maybe, and hopefully I can find my answer here. ## This doesn't refer to actual sodium as an ingredient, it refers to the type of chemical salt that the medication is made from. Thus, there is no reason to worry about your pills, any elements that may be in there are just trace amounts. This has to be done, to make medications safe for people with conditi...

I have been taking 25mcg of levothyroxine for about a year and a half when I had to switch to escripts. I received my prescription in the mail and the tablets were now oval and scored and manufactured by SANDOZ. Two weeks into this new script and I started having odd sensations in my chest and my hands would be stone cold. At work I hooked myself up to telemetry and saw that I was throwing PVCs three at a time. Heart rate was 69 and no other issues except a weird feeling I cannot describe accurately. It was the third time that happened while on the new script. I printed out a strip to take to my Dr and had an EKG done with no problems noted (of course I wasn't experiencing any symptoms at the time of the EKG). Anything like this happen to anyone here? ## Hello, Kini! How are you? Yo...

I currently take 71mg of methadone, klonopin 3mg, 100mg of hydroxyzine, and levothyroxine 25mcg everyday. I have cellulitus of my ear and was prescribed keflex 500mg 2xday. Will this antibiotic be safe to take with all the medications i am currently taking??? Please someone help me. Thank you! ## @RedGirl, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, the only interaction I found among those that were listed, was between Klonopin (Clonazepam) and Methadone. These precautions go on to note that taking the two together might increase your risk for certain serious side effects, including: lightheadedness, dizziness, an inability to concentrate, fainting spells, confusion, falling, and/or sleepiness. And if any of these should happen (god forbid), umm.edu recommends calling your doct...
