1 REPLY Filed under Nausea & VomitingJust wondering why I can't lay down for 30 min after taking potassium? Never had any warnings on my prescription in 7 years but is on the one i picked up today. ## Hello, Penny! How are you doing? It is due to the fact that this medication could cause excess stomach acid, if you lay down within 30 minutes of taking it, it could result in severe reflux, which may result in damage to your esophagus, according to NIH reports. It's harshness is also the reason you should always take it with food. Is there anything else I can help with?

It is odorless and has a white or colorless vitreous crystal appearance. The solid dissolves readily in water, and its solutions have a salt-like taste. Potassium chloride can be obtained from ancient dried lake deposits.[7] KCl is used as a fertilizer,[8] in medicine, in scientific applications, and in food processing, where it may be known as E number additi...

I take 1 KCl a day and since I started taking it I'd always have acid stomach or acid reflux. I had to take over the counter acid reducer. Can you tell me if I should stop taking this. I am taking many prescription medicines and there might be interactions. Thanks. ## Hello, Nitz! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Did your pharmacy not warn you that it can do that and should be taken with food? That's usually a very typical warning given for these potassium tablets, since they are so potent. It may also cause gas and bloating, as listed by the FDA. What other medications do you take? If you can post back with them, I'll gladly check for interactions for you. ## Thanks Verwon for your reply. Honestly, I already stopped taking the potassium t...
