Is Shingles Herpes

Ever since I took the shingles shot I've had mild shingles and it has also, I believe, did more damage to my liver. I was diagnosed with Hep C in 1995, and took the Interferon, but in one year it has advanced to cirrhosis. I feel the shingles shot may have caused this! Has anyone else had any problems? ## It can cause a rash that is considered to be like Shingles, but isn't actually Shingles, as well as administration site irritation, redness and dizziness. However, it has not been listed to cause any liver issues, according to the FDA. Are you on any other medications? IF ONE NEVER HAD CHICKEN POX ARE THEY APT TO GET SHINGLES ## No, it is a later manifestation of Varicella Zoster, which is a form of the herpes virus and causes Chicken Pox. You have to have had one in order to develop the other, as reported by the NIH. The issue is that not everyone may have the severe symptoms of chicken pox that many experience, so just like being infected with the herpes simplex that causes cold sores, they may not have known they ever had it and could be surprised to develop Shingles later in life. My friend had got bitten by a non posionious spider and for 4 years every month she has blisters to come up from where she got bit. The dr. says the spider bit her in a nerve and it has caused nuarotic pain like shingles. Has anyone ever heard of this,and what kind of meds would get rid of this? I received a prescription for medicine prescribed for Shingles. The bottle was marked Acyclovir 800 MG Tablet TEV, The first 30 tablets were white, oblong-shaped, tablet imprinted with N947 on the front and 800 on the back. The pharmacist said he had to finish the prescription with the same pill from a different manufacturer. The pills in question is the remaining 10 which are white oblong tablet imprinted with RX505 on the front and nothing on the back. I cannot find anything which identifies this pill. ## The tablets with the RX 505 marking contain 800mgs of Acyclovir, which is used to treat Shingles, or other herpes simplex infections. Have shingles, took 4 hydroco/acetaminop 5-325mg tab qua in last 2 days as prescribed. Have not had any relief from excruciating pain. When should I get some relief from pain? ## Hello, Rayna! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that you're so miserable! The good news is that once is clears up, Shingles doesn't usually recur! Something topical might help a bit more, if used in conjunction with the pills. There are things available over the counter, such as Dermoplast and others that are sold for sunburn and such. If your doctor says it's okay for you to use one, then they can even prescribe something, or your pharmacist can help you find something to try.
