Hydro Morph
100+ Topics FoundA morphine pump has been removed and now the hydro morphine has replaced it. Not many doctors prescribe Hydro Morphine and we have moved to the state of Georgia from California which is where the prescription originated. What can be prescribed in its place? Or are there any ways to find out who is in the network to prescribe hydro morphine. ## Hi Bob, Did you mean to say "Hydromorphone" (Dilaudid)? There is no such drug as Hydro Morphine, to my knowledge. In any case, there are many different alternative prescription and non-prescription options for pain management/relief. Although, if you're looking for a pain management doctor to prescribe Dilaudid, I think the links below may be helpful in so far locating PM Doctors within your general area: {link removed because site no ...
what is the difference between the yellow dialudid and the white ones ## It depends which ones you are talking about, since the colors don't actually mean anything. However, there are some companies that make a generic version and they use different colors for their tablets, to make them easier to tell apart. Though it is the marking on the tablets that actually denote what they are and not the colors. For example: There are Hydromorphone tablets marked with an M on one side and a number designating the dosage on the other side, either a 2 or a 4, but they are both white tablets. There are also some that are blue, with an E 2 marking the 2mg and the same company has a beige one for the 4mg. There is another company that has a yellow tablet with the marking 7574 that is a 4mg tablet,...
I have been on Hydromorph Contin 6mg for 2yrs for spinal stenosis and disc problems and the doctor gradually has increased the dosage (I take 2 pills in the am and 2 in the pm). The problem is that I have a sensitivity to codeine and morphine and eventually I cannot take the meds anymore. Is there other painkillers I can take that are not derived from codeine or morphine? I have also been on fentnyl patches but am allergic to the glue used on the patch. ## Did the Fentanyl help? Was the problem with it just caused by the allergy to the glue? If so, there is another option, available, it also comes in the form of a lollipop called Actiq. Here's the link to more details on it, so you can decide if it's something you'd like to discuss with your doctor: ## Have you ever tried na...
Hello, I know someone who is prescribed Hydrocodone-- 10mg-325 acetaminophen mg and Morphine-15mg. This person said on a "good day" they take 60mg of hydrocodone which would be 1950 mg acetaminophen as well as the 30 mg of morphine a day- again on a good day. I do not know much about all of this- so my question is- how dangerous is this? Thanks for all your help! ## It being dangerous, or not, depends on the person and their tolerance to opiates. If they have been taking them for awhile and their doctor has prescribed them this way, things are most likely fine. The biggest issue with the medications and amounts you've mentioned would actually be due to the Acetaminophen. The FDA warns that you should not exceed 1,000mgs of it per any 8 hour time period, and no more than 3,00...

Common side effects to it may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Learn more: Are ther...
Help. I need to know if I took too much medicine this morning on pain pills. I usually take one 10 mg 325 hydrocodone plus one morphine 15 er every morning around 8:30. This morning was my time to change my weekly, well fill my weekly meds in my daily a.M. And p.M. And I was changing the way I take my meds as I also take about 5 different meds at around noon each day. So I was combining the morphine and hydrocodone and the other meds from at 11 in my dailies to take each morning at 8:30. I put my morphine and my adderall in the morning regimen and then with my other meds and when my afternoon pills came along I took those, and about a half an hour after I started feeling weird. So I checked my pill container to see if I mixed up one of my nighttime pills by accident, but that's not ...
blue round pill with a 2 on one side and a 3 on the other. is this a generic morphine? ## No, no morphine listed in the US prescription drugs databases with that code on it. Prescription drugs generally have both letters and numbers on them since regulations require that they can be identified by them, so you know who the manufacturer is, the dose and the drug. My guess is that if all that is on there is a 2 on one side and a 3 on the other, it is probably an over the counter item. Remember, the color of a tablet doesn't meany anything. Just because they are some blue morphine pills, not all blue pills are morphine.
I usually take 1-3 10/500 hydrocodone pills a day. I recently Ran out and have 60 mg morphine. I have never taken morphine pills.. had it iv in hospital a few times. Should I take it to ease the pain or what should I expect. A little nervous.. ## You should only take half or even a quarter, 60mgs of morphine is around 6 times as potent as 10 mg of hydrocodone, and the could be an incomplete cross tolerance effect aswell ## Hi Kole, Sorry to hear about your challenges with pain. But because it's your first time taking the morphine pills, I honestly think it would be best to consult with your doctor first, since they also have an understanding of your medical history and what dosage amount might be safest for you based on their professional opinion/evaluation. On the other hand, nobod...
Anybody who has knowledge pl3ase chime in....no lectures please. Currently taking 4-60mg morphine er a day plus 8-10mg oxy a day. My questions are this. Doc wants to change me to zohydro. Vicodin has NEVER worked in past is zohydro gonna help? What is equivalent to 4-60mg morphs a day??? Lastly what is avg per tab cost??? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? To be honest, it is doubtful that the Zohydro will help you, if Vicodin didn't. Zohydro is just Hydrocodone without the Acetaminophen. It is also converts 1 for 1 with Morphine, so you'd need 60mgs of it for each 60mgs of Morphine that you were taking to be therapeutically equivalent. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as n...
My Dr. had me on percocet but I was have nightmares on it, so he switched me to Morphine 15mg for break through pain and Morphine 30mg for long lasting. Nether percocet or morphine were working so he switched me to Dilaudid 4mg, and when I take one pill I don't feel anything but if I take two all I want to so is sleep. Is there anything that I can do about this, and is there one pain medicine that works better then another? I mean where on the pain chart does Dilaudid fall under. pls help so that I can ask my Dr. to help with the pain but sleep 14 hours during the day as well as 9 hours as night. ## take loratab 10 - watson 533 brand. they are strong and wont give you nightmares ## Rosanna, it's really going to be a matter of trial and error to find out what medication works for...
Is morphine stronger than hydromorph contin. I use to take 100 mg of morphine, I've since had 6 major back operations and now have titanium rods from my pelvis up to my occupant so I no longer am able to move my head at all for it's fused to my body. I'm taking 24mg of hydromorph contin. It doesn't work for me and I was wondering if just morphine is stronger for pain? ## Hello, Terry! How are you? No, the Hydromorphone is much stronger. You only need 1.5mgs of it for every 10mgs of Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you consulted your doctor? Are you on any other medications, or just this one?
Hello, I have an appointment coming up with PM Dr in a week. I am currently taking the morphine ER, 30mg twice daily, along with 4 10mg oxycodone per day as needed. .my questions are..is hydromorphone ER better vs the morphine ER in terms of pain control and how long it lasts in the body? I have very recently started to take these kinds of MEDS again and am trying to find something that works and I can afford. ..I know, good luck, right? Lol..anyway, I was also wondering if anyone out there might feel like hydromorphone is also better than oxycontin of similar strength? I know hydromorphone is way more potent than morphine, and I think I read that it is stronger than oxycontin also, but it seems to me that I have heard that the hydro does NOT last as long as the oxycontin. ..any help tha...
I was on oxycontin 20MG 5 times pr day... I grew a tolerance and rather than up the dose, I managed to get back onto teva-morphine SR 30 MG, but what I took before was hydro-morphine 30 MG..trying to find out the differences ## You're actually mixing up drug and manufacturer names here, which may be creating some of your confusion. The one you called Teva-Morphine is actually just the narcotic Morphine and Teva is the manufacturer. The other one is actually called Hydromorphone, it is still a narcotic, but a different one and it is very potent. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Seems I have side effects from the various versions of Morphine Sulfate I have changed to recently. I knew I had alergic and sick to my stomcah problems when I was given Morphine in Hospital, but ...
How do Hydroc7.5 compare with 30 MG Morphine SUL in strength& and action? ## Actually these are considered to be almost the same, so they are normally converted on a 1 to 1 dosage, so 7.5mgs of Hydro would be equal to 7.5mgs of Morphine, so with the 30mgs, you are taking almost 3 times as much.
iS HYDROMORPHONE the same as Morphine I was just concerned about my aunt. ## No they are not the same drug. Hydromorphone is a derivative of morphine. Hydromorphone is approx. 5x more potent mg for mg than morphine, and is typically given as an alternative to morphine. This information is reference from: Because Hydromorphone is a lot stronger, I personally wouldn't treat them as being similar drugs. I hope this helps! Please post back if you have any other questions or comments to add. ## My drug panel came back for hydromorphine but I only take morphine and embeda. So why did it come back as hydromorphone? Isn't that dilaudid? ## which is better at stopping pain of a broken rib hydrmorphone or morphine? ## My drug panel came back for hydromorphine but I only take morphine and ...
Hi I'm Honey and I'm new here, I was taking 10mg of oxycodon my doc changed it and now taking Hydromorphone 2mg with a p on other side. This med is not working for me at all!! Also take morphine 30mg.do you think my doc would change it back to oxy and maybe increase mg or give it 4 times a day instead of 3 times day? I'm in so much pain. Thx in advance ## Hello, Honey! How are you? It would require 3.75mgs per dose of Hydromorphone to equal each 10mgs of the Oxycodone that you were taking, which likely explains why the 2mg dosage isn't working for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, no one can spe...
I was put on morphine sulfate 15mg ER 1 every 12 hours. I had been taking hydrocodone 10/325 4xs a day. Is this a better slightly stronger amount to control pain after taking hydrocodone for 14 years? ## Hello, DezerayBlu! How are you? According to the conversion ratios provided by Global, they convert on a 1:1 ratio. So, to be equal to a daily dose of 40mgs Hydrocodone, you'd need 40mgs of Morphine. It is also time released, so the medication is gradually released over the 12 hour period. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you started taking it, yet? If so, how is it working for you? ## I was recently put on morphine sulfate ER 15 mg, every 1...
I was put on hydromorphom it's a redish color with an m on one side and Ms on other. ....but I'm not sure if there gonna work dose anyone know how these work on pain?? I can't get to my medicine closet I'm not even sure of the mg....dose anyone know the mg's they come in? ?? Can someone please get back to me. ....please ## I'm sure those are Not hydromorphone. I I believe they're morphine sulfate 60mg extended release. Do you have a PDR book? ## HELLO!! Take one up to your pharmacist, or any pharmacy, and they will know what it is. ## @Lorde, There's no such thing as "hydro morphine", so I'm assuming you meant to say hydromorphone (the generic for dilaudid); which in an of itself is considered to be a potent analgesic. Regarding the pill ID, m...
My wife is a chronic pain patient. Today she went to have her periodic office visit with her pain management physician. She has, for several years, been prescribed fentanyl transdermal patches, 75 mcg/hour, along with hydrocodone/apap 10/325, 1 or 2 tablets every 8 hours, PRN for breakthrough pain. She changes the patches every 72 hours. Today the Dr changed her treatment regimine changing the fentanyl to 100 mcg/hrs, changing patch every 48 hours. He took her off the hydrocodone/apap, and said if she still has breakthrough pain, that he will prescribe immediate release morphine to replace the hydrocodone/apap. Her Dr says that this is in response to new laws or guidelines from the DEA and FDA. Is this true? He said that they can't prescribe hydrocodone/apap for chronic pain any lon...
