How To Wean Off Viibryd

I have been on vibryd for about two months now. I have noticed hair loss and some diarrhea. With the diarrhea I have bloating and excessive gas to the point of not being able to control this. Needless to say, I limit my visits with this problem. I take 40MG tabs, so how would I start weaning this? Maybe every other day and then next week skip two days, and etc? i am a healthy 70 yr old and usually have no problems. Hello all, I started taking Viibryd back in August of 2013. My doctor prescribed me 40 mg daily. I was also taking .25 Xanax as needed. To say if my anxiety went away, I'm not so sure. Anyways, I relocated to California back in January, and I am now 2,000 miles away from most of my anxiety triggers. There have been days when I had forgotten to take my medicine and experienced TERRIBLE side effects. Itchy all over, dizzy, and terrible neck pain. I went to see my new doctor about 2 1/2 weeks ago and he said that someone my age (22), and size (118 pounds) should have never been prescribed this or such a high dose. He instructed me to ween off of it. Needless to say after taking 1/2 for a week, then 1/4 for a week, as of Monday I am done to nothing. I am exhausted. I literally can sleep...

Do I need to wean off Viibryd if I only took for 2 weeks? My anxiety is through the roof and I'd rather just go back to Paxil and deal with the weight gain. My doctor just took me off viibryd (and 1 mg of Abilify) and put me back on Zoloft (which I had been on for years prior). I gained 20 pounds and was still really depressed and anxious on the viibryd/Abilify. My concern is that he didn't wean me off the viibryd. It's only been 2 days and I am so itchy!! I take Flecainide for Atrial Fib and was also taking Cymbalta. My doctor want to wean me off of Cymbalta and put me on Viibryd immediately. Does anyone know how compatable these two meds are??? ## Hi Debbie, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Viibryd and Flecainide. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. In conclusion, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. I feel great when I am on this med but the diarrhea continues. I weaned off of it and started feeling depressed again. Started back on it and the diarrhea returned instantly. Will it ever stop ## Hello, Mr. Lago! How are you? Side effects such as this usually last about 4 to 6 weeks, then tend to taper off and disappear, once your body gets used to the medication. However, if it's very severe, or continues after that period of time, then you should consult your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you to take. I have taken 10 mg of viibryd for a week with loose stools, cramps in my stomach, sleepy in the morning to the point I need to pass out for 2-3 hours and then wake up for a few hours to then start being very aggravated and on edge. Not to mention the whole week of medicine has caused terrible headaches & jaw pain ## I noticed my jaw pain first with zoloft then changed to Viibryd and still hurts , the headaches started for me on the 40mg ...the stomach issues are still here .. I just started cutting my 40 mg into 20mg and trying to wean myself off.. not to mention the leg cramps and I feel like I am not here .. in a fog all the time .. Terrible stuff, disturbing dreams, anger bursts, crying bouts, blood vessels in eye burst first day or so. I am 74, female. This is awful- Unpredictible anxiety, feelings of doom, insomnia. Have weaned myself from 40 mg to 5-10 mg. daily-must continue on that, I feel, to eventually have no side effects that upset my entire well being. NOTHING is worth feeling like this. Hey All. I started the starter pack of Viibryd two weeks ago while weaning off of Pristiq. I am on SSRI'S due to obsessive/intrusive thoughts and GAD. The first few days of the 10 mg of Viibryd were okay. I just had some mild diarrhea but no nausea or anything else. By week two, I experienced severe diarrhea, nausea, drowsiness, extreme fatigue, vertigo, and angry irritable behavior. I called my Psychaitrist on Friday and told him that I want off of this stuff! He told me to stop taking it and to call him Monday morning.... two days later I still can barely function at all. This is the worst SSRI that I have ever been on. Pychiastrist put me on this "great new drug" when I was going through a rough patch. Had been on Paxil for 6 years. Took 6 months to get off that drug. Fast forward 4 years on Viibryd and it's simply not working. Began weaning off, first round did the tapering down 40-20-10 in one week intervals. What a nightmare each time I went one level down I thought I was dying. The headaches, brain zaps, itching, fatigue, everything. Got down to 10 stopped taking it... I have taken Effexor XR for many years-it stopped working, so I weaned myself off and took nothing since this past July. I do take Xanax 1mg 3xday. Well-Life took a left turn on me and started on Viibryd. Bad Move! I'm very sensitive to meds-I took the 10 mg for 3 days and cut it down to 5mg for 2 weeks. I did 2 days of 2.5 then stopped. My Dr put me on 3mg Xanax ER ( per my request) and here's what's happening. No viibryd for 3 days now and I have TERRRIBLE nightmares and sleep in what feels like clips. I am not a depressed person just overwhelmed with caring for my 2 grandsons and trying to get my housework done, and have sometime for myself (which never happens) My doctor put me on the started pack of Viibryd 10mg for 7 days and 20mg of 7days. Was just weaned off Viibryd. While taking it I began to have horrible diarrhea that is continuing although I took my last Viibryd about a week ago. Help, I've lost about 12 lbs in about a week and a half. Not hungry at all.Scared and don't feel well. Help! ## Diarrhea is a known possible side effect. How long were you taking it? I have just finished my first wek of the starter pack. I actually already feel more motivation and energy. Now weaning off Cymbalta at 20 mg/day; also take Trazadone 100 mg 3 at bedtime. Have terrible sleep problems & the Trazadone has been wonderful for that; old drug and cheap...originally prescribed for depression, then people realized they were sleeping better than ever. Have had no real problems with Viibryd as yet. However, I have the Trazadone and take Codeine 30 mg twice a day. That probably has kept me from having the diarrhea most people experience. Finished starter pack. Never felt better- worse. More anxiety, less sleep, and awful nightmares. Took me off of it and withdraws were awful. Horrible nightmares, and hot and cold sweats. Awful drug for me. Getting back on rimeron- just have to deal with some weight gain. It works well for me. Everyone is different. Just be careful weaning off the Viibryd. ## I realize it can be somewhat different for everyone, but I get the sense that all these medications are addicting enough to induce some epic withdrawal symptoms once your body gets used to having them and then suddenly not having them. Are you finding that Remeron (mirtazapine) is any better than Viibryd when it comes down to withdrawals?

Help! I have been on Viibryd, 20mg since Oct 2013. At first it made a wonderful improvement in my mdd, then in Jan - May 2014, I noticed I'd been having horrid headaches with severe neck and should pain. PCP ordered PT. Didn't help. May 19th,2014 I weaned from 20 to 10 mg dosage.
