You should just place it as far up as possible, so it rests against, or near the cervix and leave it there. What I can tell you is that if you feel that you administered the medication wrong, you should contact your doctor and verify the proper administration technique. I am post menopausal. I was prescribed Estring because intercourse was becoming very painful. I used almost 2 rounds of Estring (3 months + 1.5) Estring really helped rebuild my atrophic vagina. Being intimate is not fine but I have a new problem: a terrible vaginal smell. When i remove the ring, the smell disappears. Interestingly, i didn't have this smell the first 3 months. I had yellow vaginal discharges that started 5 days ago. On the 4th day i took a canesten tablet at night before i went to bed. Then I noticed that the same pieces of the tablet came out; at first it was just a tiny white thing, then after an hour i checked it again and it's like all of the tablet came out. I had a miscarriage 10 months back due to a hematoma in the womb. And because of continued use of sanitary napkins, I developed a severe skin itch.
