I'm currently taking Ultracet medicine with a batch number of 417 that's listed as being manufactured on 08/16. I would like to know how to determine the expiry of the medicine? ## The U.S. FDA lists the expiration as being one year from the date you received them, unless they are still sealed in the original factory container, or blister packs. If they, they may be good for 4 to 5 years. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. I have also been recently informed by a nurse practitioner, that the U.S. is the only country that requires expiration dates on medications. Hi I am a user of df 118s have been for over 7 years now. I have these on prescription though my local drug & addiction clinic. I get some off friends of friends sometimes and recently got some that are 6 years out of date. Im just wondering if these are still safe to take so long after the expiry date. The only information I've been able to find is that it contains Paracetamol + Mahacef Plus; which is an antibiotic combination that contains Ofloxacin + Cefixime. I have a tub of Glucosamine Sulphate with expiry Jan 2013. Is it safe to use it still? ## From the information I've found, they just begin to lose potency after the expiration date, but aren't known to become dangerous. I have a prescription of Famotidine dated 02/06/06. I wonder if they are still usable? ## Not in the US. From their efficacy studies, when left in the original factory sealed containers, it was found to retain full efficacy for 3 years, but once that container was opened and it was dispensed in a pharmacy/chemist's container that exposes it to the elements that cause degradation, that efficacy could only be guaranteed for one year. I've got 100x 50mg Tramadol capsules in foil blister packs, with an expiry date of Dec 2007. I was prescribed them years back for extremely painful broken bones in my foot. Last year I was knocked of my motorcycle and got a number of injuries that I'm still struggling with. For a few months I was prescribed 60mg Codeine, but now I'm just on 1200mg ibuprofen and 4000mg paracetamol daily, but it's nowhere near as effective as the codeine was. Doc won't prescribe codeine again as it's addictive .....so, here I am, in constant pain and I've found my old unused box of tramadol.
