Hello my doctor just changed me from taking up to 6 Hydrocodon 10/325 to Morohine 15 mg time release tablet . should I see a big change as far as side affects ? ## It is the weakest morphine pill out there if you are takeing for pain it's better than norco I had my doc lower my doce to 1 15 mg morphine and I Get oxycodone 4 each a day. At one time I was at 120 mg morphing and2 30 mg oxycodone after a while they stop working so I came down on my own you get a tolerance fast I do 150 mg oxycodone when back is real bad even after a year it only helps some . I was taking 30mg oxycodone and the doctor switched to 15 mg Morphine ER and 15mg oxycodone and the pain is the worst it's been in the last 8 months. Am i going crazy or is it possible that the morphine does nothing for me. And if so I can't see the doctor for another 7 days ## 15mg er morphine is the least amount available in the er class of pain meds, er stands for extended release, this means that basically you are receiving 15 mg per 6 hrs, over a 12 hr period. and obviously you receive half of the dose you were getting with oxycodone. long story short, you Dr.isn't doing you any favors, only reducing your pain meds and increasing your pain!, 15 mg er morph doesn't do much at all! ## Morphine when taken by mouth is super weak. If this holds true and I did the math correctly, then 7.5mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 11.25mg of Morphine (7.5 x 1.5 =11.25); and 10mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 15mg of Morphine (10 x 1.5 =15). My pain specialist had me on 40 mg Opana ER and 15 mg Morphine Sulfate IR for 8 years. I had to find another doctor and starting next week I will be taking 30 mg Oxymorphone ER every 12 hours and 10 mg Oxycodone IR up to 3 per day. I have been out of my break thru pain med for 2 days now and my pain level averages 9 to 10 every day so I have taken 5 mg valium, Tylenol #3 with codine and a baclofen to stop me from going into withdrawal. Have been taking 400mcg Fentora with 125mcg Fentanyl Patch as prescribed by my PM doc. Fentora supposedly is only used for cancer pain. I do not have cancer just major chronic pain in knees for 10 years she believes is now CRPS. She says I have to stop either the patch or the Fentora. I have heard that Morphine is a good sub and she suggests 15mg. Dilaudid is also an option but did not have any success with that in 4mg dose. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! ## My suggestion (sorry so late a reply) is that u stop the patch immediately. Fentanyl 50 Mcgs over 5 years has ruined my beautiful teeth. After two years on oxycodone 10mg 4x daily withdrawal between doses was getting unbearable so doc switched me to morphine ER 15mg 2x daily with oxycodone 5 mg for breakthrough pain. I just started today. I took the pill at about noon and now it is 7pm and I feel withdrawal symptoms. How many 15 mg of Morphine Sulfate equal 4 of the 10 mg Hydrocodone?? ## Morphine and Hydrocodone are generally considered equal in strength, when taken orally, so a 10mg Morphine tablet would be equal to 10mgs of Hydrocodone, this your 15mg Morphine is actually a stronger dose than what you were taking of the Hydrocodone. 3 of the Morphine 15mg tablets would be 45mgs and that would actually still be 5mgs stronger than the 40mgs in 4 of the Hydrocodone tablets. Hi. I have been on 60 mg of morphine sulfate for 3 years. Me and my doctor talked about either upping my dose of morphine or changing it, so we went with a higher dose of morphine. I am in a confusing debate with my ex husband: Which is stronger, 30 mg of morphine sulfate E.R or 10 mg of methadone? ## Methadone is stronger than Morphine, just as an example, if you were taking the 30mgs of Morphine, the equivalent dosage of Methadone would only be 3mgs, so it's a roughly 1mg to 10mg ratio.
