At times, I am on Prednisone to make my joints and smooth muscles stop hurting so much. It brings the swelling down. Unfortunately, I am an insulin-dependent diabetic because of the lupus. Prednisone brings my sugar level up very very high; therefore, I can no longer use it. The biggest side effect of Prednisone besides bringing your sugar level up, is a ravanous hunger! You always want to eat, can never get enough! It causes some swelling to the joints, rash, bloating. Can someone take 10 mg of Prednisone then just stop or do you have to taper off? ## Just one tablet likely won't require a taper, but it's also not going to help you much, since that won't give it a chance to have much of a therapeutic effect in the body. I took double dose of prednisone 60mg in one day 9 hours apart for sinus infection. Should I be worried? ## I was given a 24 hr prednisone shot yesterday to help with my tight chest and coughing. They prescribed 60 mg for 3 days as I had been taking 40mg 2 days prior. I would like to split the dosage so I don't cough at night. I am also taking albuterol in a nebulizer every 4 hrs as the inhaler was not working as good as the treatments in the doctor's office. Can I split the dosage to 30mg twice daily so I can get relief from coughing while trying to get some sleep? I have 20mg prednisone tablet 3 tabs daily x3days, 2tabs dailyx3 then 1 tab daily 3x daily. This is going to be 2 strong for me can it be cut down the dose or can I cut the pills.? I have taken the 4mg methylprednisolone before and that was strong . So I know that I will not be able to take this much. ## Hello, Frog! How are you doing? A 90 year old woman was diagnosed with penumonia about 4 weeks ago which required hospitalization. She was placed on an antibiotics was not getting any better. Was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for choking and was placed on prednisone of 50 mg/day for a week with a plan to have the prednisone decreased by 10mg/day every week there after, until weaned. Hi My daughter is 15 and was prescribed prednisone 20mg for inflammation brought on by an upper respiratory infection. She took the first dose about 1/2 hour after a meal and within 1/2 hour, she was experiencing severe abdominal cramping and nausea. She was able to vomit and it was clear with a few solids but mostly clear. I spoke with the doctor after the pharmacist recommended that it might be too much for her. I had a allergic reaction to some makeup or cream and had very swollen and red eyelids/skin. Was prescribed 8 pills of 20 mg prednisone to take 2x/day for 4 days. I look so much better after taking the 3 pills, can I just stop now or is it like an anibotic and I need to finish the course of the pills? I am halfway thru a 10 day course of prednisone for pneumonia. Iam feeling much better except that I have developed a weird feeling as of an overinflated balloon. My body feels very tight. Hey, I just got prescribed prednisone 20 mg for a horrible allergy reaction to pet dander and (normal summer reactions). I was wondering if it was suitable to take my first dose tonight? 8pm! I was prescribed 20 mg of prednisone for an abnormal lump on my leg, i wasn't aware of any of the terrible side affects and took it the first day feeling quite moody and pretty much lost sense of time, when i went to bed my legs began to ache terribly and my heart wouldn't stop pounding. I didn't sleep much at all and when i did i experienced terrible and odd nightmares. I am supposed to take it for 5 days once a day, but i refuse to take anymore because i simply can't handle the side effects. anyone else experienced this? i get no effects from alcohol whilst taking prednisone ## Hello, Blaine! How are you? That's very odd, in most cases, alcohol worsens the side effects, so someone would feel more drowsiness, dizziness and nauseous than usual. Basically each drink would affect them as if they'd had 2 and so on. Be very careful not to push it by drinking far too much, because you may still risk alcohol poisoning. I started on prednisone for extreme knee and hip pain. Can't sleep. No relief yet. Can I take hydrocodone? I took Tylenol several hours ago with no relief from that either. ## I was put on Celebrex, 200 mg, for severe hip pain and arthritis. Can't mix Advil (only Tylenol) which does nothing for me. Opites make my BP drop 80/50. I am on Fentanyl Patch 25mcg and feel very dizzy & sleepy. Think my BP is dropping dangerously, i have had lots of fluids & hung upside down off the bed.
