Thirty mg morphine equals how many mg oxycodone? ## i have taken both within the last couple of months… i wouldn't say they are "equivalent" or use the word "equal" per se - but in my experience, they are interchangeable, & the doctor who prescribed both of them had prescribed 30mg of oxycodone and 30mg of morphine…. and i used them at the same dose and frequency…. imo, they are pretty similar… although the morphine is more sedating than the oxycodone….. ## Hi Jerry, According to an equianalgesic (opioid) chart from Stanford, Oxycodone is said to be about 1 1/2 times more potent than Morphine on a milligram to milligram basis. They conclude that 120 mg of oral Oxycodone is similar to taking 180 mg of oral Morphine. However, this is n...

I take 30mg of zormorph morphine twice three times daily and it keeps me awake all night I never sleep I can't take other med as allergic to codiene iburofen voltrol and many more I have to take it cos I have really bad sciatica and back problems why does it keep me awake and does this happen to anyone else ## Hello, Tammy5583! How are you? I'm very sorry about the insomnia problem. Narcotics can cause that as a side effect in some people that take it. Have you tried Oxycodone, if it's available there? It might be a better choice. You should also make sure to talk to your doctor about the problem, they may be able to prescribe something to counteract that. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, di...

I am wondering if you guys can help me. What is the comparison of 30mg oxycodone IR vs 30mg morphine instant release. Say I take 3 30mg oxycodone, how many 30mg instant morphine would I need? ## Oxycodone is one and half times stronger than Morphine, so for each 30mg Oxycodone, you'd need 45mgs of Morphine, or for 90mgs, you'd need 135mgs of Morphine. Both are narcotics, so you should make sure that you aren't taking more than your doctor has prescribed, because they can cause depression of the central nervous system, as well as respiratory depression. Is there anything else I can help with?

For approx the past six months I have had even more problems than usual filling my morphine ir 30 mg. twice there have been drug shortages. I need to change to an equivilant medication like roxicodone,or something similar. What dose of oxycodone is equal to 4 X msir 30mg per day??? I take a toal of 120 a month, in additon to taking a low dose of methadone as well. I dont want to increase the methadone so need to find something to replace the msir 30mg's. ## Morphine is one a half times stronger than Oxycodone, so you'd actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone. 20mgs of it for each 30mgs of the Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is the...

I HAVE BEEN TAKING 15 MG OF OXYCODONE...1TAB 4XDAY. FOR 2 YRS. DR. CHANGED RX TO MS CONTIN 30MG....1TAB EVERY12 HRS. WONDER WHY? WONDER WHY? ## My guess would be there really is no change, execpt for how many times you take it. Your mg add up to 60, even though your doctor changed your dosage. If you feel concerned I would notify your doctor. Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## Ms Cotin is a different drug(morphine). MS Cotin would be controled release oxycodone. ## I am on ms contin 60mg ea 12 hrs as it's an er ( extended relief) med. It is also stronger than the oxy. It works as a slow time release thru out the day. If it's not working U can ask him 4 the oxy w/ it 4 breakthru pain. They can & should give both. I take diaudi...

I have been looking for an up to date forum to ask questioms, and hope this is it. I am prescribed 30mg extended release morphine, 4 times a day, and 15 mg, IR morphhine for break through pain, 4 times a day. I have been taking it for aprox 10 years. I have had disc fusing surgery, and have 2 more herniations that need surgical help. Arthritis, scar tissue and many other issues. The meds don't ever take the pain away completely, but allow me to live and work and get up in the morning without wanting to die. I work 13 hour days, at a somewhat physical job for me,, and I went into my purse to get a pill at the proper time, (not an abuser), and my script looked almost empty. I had just filled it. I took my script and went to the restroom and looked closely and yes, it was almost gone. ...

How long will it take a 30mg morphine to get out of my system and can it be detected on a saliva drug test ## Everyone has a different metabolism rate, many posts say 2-3 days, well not for me, I've failed many of times. Once 7 days after consuming 30mg morphine sulfate pill, and 9 days, 60mg morphine sulfate pill, and both times I drank plenty of water, exercised etc. So be careful, if it's not prescribed to you, you take that chance.

I have a prescription for 30mg morphine 3 times a day. So, in a 48 hour period I took 6 of them. My doctor told me that if I didn't have the correct level in my system that it would be a problem. My UA test showed 16896 ng/mL. Is that a normal level for what I had taken, or is she going to have a 'problem' with me? Thank you! ## I am very sorry, but no one here is going to be able to give you an answer to that question. There are many factors that go in to determining what your level should be other than just the dosage and dosing frequency. The other elements included are things such as your metabolism, overall health, average fluid intake, your regular activity levels and etc. All of that goes in to determining the range your levels should be in and the equations necessary...
