I have been taking 50mg.of Lyrica 3 times a day for a pinched nerve in my lower back. Now my Insurance Co. said they will not cover Lyrica they recomend Gabapentin. right now i am on a coctail of 2400 MG of Gabapentin a day as well i take supuedol right now for my back pain witch is forever... I have been on gabapentin for about 2 weeks. First 3 days i was a zombie, didnt even kno where i was. It was crazy. After that, i felt nothing weird. I am on 600mgs gabapentin 3 times daily. It has caused weight gain and due to the short duration of action I have to dose three separate times. I wanted to know if pregabalin might be better for me. I take gabbys for anxiety and mood disorder. I have heard pregabalin is more efficient and effective. Any feedback is appreciated. Can anyone help? ## There is really no set dosage for this, though you do need to start at a low dosage and gradually add more until you find the amount that works effectively for you. Most doctors will start with 100mgs taken 2 to 3 times a day, then go up to 300 and continue adding until they find what works for each patient. It would take a tremendous amount to OD on this, which is why so many doctors like to use it, they can take the dosage very high, without danger and it has very few side effects.
