94 Topics FoundWhat type of table is the same as 40 mg oxycontin time release without the time release ## Hello, Joseph! How are you? Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone and it is available in most countries in a regular release formulation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm prescribed 40 mg OxyContin extended release for pain I'm used to taking anywhere from 4-5 perk 10s a day I have a lot of anxiety of weather or not to take this pill it will be taken orally I do not want to her high please reply with information is this to strong what should I expect ext thank you
If I take an OxyContin 80 mg at 10 PM Monday night, and on Tuesday morning I take one 80 mg + one 30 mg Oxycodone at 7 AM would it be working in my body by 8:30 that morning? Thanks ## Yes, based on your dosage schedule I'd say it would definitely be working in your body by then, regardless of whether you take immediate release or a delayed release formulation. For instance, conventional oxycodone has a peak plasma concentration in your blood stream of about 1 hour after taking it, whereas the time-released version would reach its peak after about 3 hours. Half life can be up to about 4 hours, and traces of it remain in your body for up to 72 hours (but by that time you would probably have taken your next dose if you are on a regular pain management schedule). Hope this helps! ## Ho...
small, round , pink tablets imprint k 56 on label RPH 52/52 oxycodone 10 mg tab ## These are not Oxycontin tablets, those are name brand tablets, with no generic available, which are made by Purdue Pharma, they all have the OP marking on on side and the number designating the dosage on the other. The tablet marked K56 contains 10mgs of Oxycodone, in a regular release formulation, which would be a generic for Roxicodone. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Given OxyContin Extended Release 40mg per 12 hours in place of Methadone 10mg four times daily. Always given for pain by MD, 20 years now. Initial dose 20 yrs ago was 200 mg daily, got myself down to 120 mg daily, then down to 40mg (all of these in four doses, that took 3 years). I've been on OxyContin ER for one month along with Vicodin for breakthrough and Tramadol. Nothing really works. Can't sleep, eat or care for myself. The reason I'm off Methadone is because insurance said I would need to pay for it and I can't. Back with my parents and they are lost in this situation. On OxyContin I get relief for about 4 hours (after it takes close to an hour to start relief). They are the worst. I just want Methadone back but it has ruined and ruled my life. No marriage, no chi...
is taking 2 10mg oxycontin tabs the same as taking 1 20mg oxycontin? ## Yes, it would essentially be the same, though there may be some slight variations, just due to there being two separate pills, so the release rate could be slightly different. Have you been advised to take 2 10mg instead of one of the other? ## I have been taking 1 oxycontin 20 mg twice a day every 12 hrs for over 5 yrs. Now I have a new Medical Insurance and they want my Pain Management Dr to give them a written prior authorization form, to explain why I need to take Oxycontin20mg 2 X daily for my sever pain & that it is the Only Pain Medication That Works for Me! I have been in sever Pain for past 7 years and getting Worse...I have a Deterreating disks from my upper Neck down Spine, Both Hips are Bone to Bone ...
I was just given this med Oxycontin10mg twice a day by my dr for pain but I don't know how long until it starts working. I have Vicodin but I don't really know how much of it I should take to help with the pain. I have only taken one dose of the oxy ## Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone and it will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes, after you take it, to start working. Then it is slowly released for approximately 12 hours. As to the Vicodin, you shouldn't take more of that than what your doctor, or pharmacist has instructed. It is generally one, every 4 to 6 hours, as needed. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My experience is that after 1 hour, the beginning effects are noticed. ## Yeah you won't get immediately relief and in my opinion much...

light blue round oxy 5 on one side and on the other looks like a p within a circle ## small round white pill with letter m on front and 05 52 on back ## I have this round white pill. On on side P within a circle is imprinted on it. On the other side there is M on the top. Then a line across the middle and a 10 below. What kind of drug is this? ## It is a oxycontin 10mg ## The tablet with the M 0552 contains 5mgs of Oxycodone, in a regular release formulation, it is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, the other one with the logo of a p in a circle and the M 10 on the opposite side I'm finding listed as being a 10mg Metoclopramide from Canada, it...
I need to know what the fillers are in the oxycontin Tablets 10 mgm made in the UK and distributed by Mundipharma P/L Bridge St Sydney. I have a patient with a dairy allergy and who cannot tolerate Lactose as a tablet filler. ## Hi Robert, It is difficult to answer this question unless you can post the specific manufacturer name. Manufacturing processes differ between each company, and even generic products of the same drug can have different fillers / inactive ingredients. Because of that, the best starting point to knowing the proper answer is to first ascertain who is making the pills in question. Hope this makes sense! Let me know what you think... ## The manufacturer of OxyContin (until last year there were no generics; the patent does not officially expire until 2006, 20 years aft...
Long story short, my new insurance will not cover 1/3 of my 30 mg oxycontin. I notice on my breakthrough meds, Oxycodone 20 mg, the bottle says, "Generic for Roxicodone." Is there another name for Oxycodone that my insurance will cover? Btw, my ins. will cover 4 a day 60 mg and the same for 80 mg! I am only asking for 3 a day of the 30 mg! What is funny is playing with insurance coverage online, I put in 100 pills a day for oxycodone, and my insurance will approve! Really? I realize that would never happen, but I am just saying, they have got their heads up their..... ## No, there is no other name for Oxycontin, the active ingredient is Oxycodone in a time released formulation, but it isn't available as a generic anymore. I wonder how their coverage checker is reading them, ...
I came across some green pills that look like OC 80's but they are imprinted with APO on one side and OCD 80 on the other. Can someone please tell me what they might be? ## I have tha same ones. I heard there generic oxy contin 80mg. Not sure I would like to know aswel. ## From what I could gather, this pill is in fact confirmed to be controlled release Oxycodone/Oxycontin (80mg). The paragraph quoted below describes it in more detail: "APO-OXYCODONE CR 80 mg: Each tablet contains 80 mg oxycodone hydrochloride. Green, round, biconvex film-coated tablets, engraved “APO†on one side, “OCD†over “80†on the other side. Available in bottles of 50 and 100 tablets." Manufacturer: Apotex, Cana...
I have been in pain management for 12 yrs. I have just been changed to 10 mg roxicodone 4xs day. use to take 10 mg perocet. Plus my normal 80 mg. Oxycontin 4 per day. My question is what is the difference between 10mg roxicodone and 10mg perocet ## Hello, Suzie! How are you? Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, the Acetaminophen augments the action of the narcotic, so it makes it more potent and effective for some people. However, the Roxicodone only contains the Oxycodone, by itself. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Not in the least the same Roxy 10 not nearly as strong plus quick release.Oxycontin 8...

I'm taking the 15mg extended release OxyContin for severe back pain and degenerative disc disease as I was switched from 10 mg 10/325 Percocet BUT the switch is not working for me, I have not been getting relief and am still in pain, is this normal? My Dr is giving me a hard time now about writing me the prescriptions and has literally ignored my diagnosis as she claims the state of Vermont is cracking down on these types of meds... Which what the hell does that have to do with me? I'm taking them for the massive constant pain I'm in and still can't even work back to full time yet... So basically I'm being pushed aside as because I told her being my Dr, that it's not working and why can't I take the meds 10/325 Percocet that were working better for my pain th...
Filed under OxyContinI'm having break thru pain which is seriously painful. What could My pain Dr do? ## Hello, SolidMike! How are you? Since this is a time released medication, your doctor could prescribe an instant or regular release one, in addition to it, to help with breakthrough pain. There are quite a few choices that can be prescribed. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you spoken to them about the problem? ## I I really feel for everyone here that is really hurting and not just seeking a high. my Dr has me on 2 -15Mg Ms Contin per day with 2- percocet 10's. well long story short they aren't helping at all.what is the next step? can't sleep. const...
I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont...
Can anyone help me understand these OPs? The whole pill is plastic, right? I mean, unlike MS Contins where the coating is time released. So my question is-If the whole thing is a solid time release pill, why can’t I cut it in half? I am not trying to abuse it. My doctor made me switch from 5mg instant relase oxycodone to 10 mg oxycontin and it’s way too strong. It makes me feel sick and way too medicated to drive. I am taking these so I can have a life, not another car accident. So I would like to reduce the dose but it says not to cut them & I am not sure that is applicable to the plastic pills. ## According to medical literature, "extended/time-release" pills are not intended to be cut in half because it can release the full contents of the pill all at once (ri...
Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I seriously just took a 30mg op cut in half and it felt like 5 or six of my 10 mg (pink) oxycodone. I believe my tolerance is pretty high and my doctor has me on 8 pink 10's a day. So to answer your question you'd be fine taking half a 40. Don't listen to all the conservatives. Li...
Is oxycontin and Percocet the same thing except without the tylenol ## Yeah. It's usually extended release instead of the percocet, which is immediate release. Not all the time but that's what I've seen. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? No, Raine, you are correct, both contain Oxycodone, but Percocet also contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol and Oxycontin just contains Oxycodone in a 12 hour time released formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything I can help with? ## Is a 18 mg xtampza ER stronger or the same as Percocet 10mg? ## Suzie, Both medications contain oxycodone xtampza er is an extended rele...
which is stronger--10 mg of Percocet or 15 mg of oxycontin? Which is more addictive? ## Hello, CS! How are you? They both contain the same narcotic, which is Oxycodone. Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
