Glycomet Dosage

I am a 74-year-old male. I have had type 2 diabetes since the year 2012 and I have been taking Glycomet from the very beginning. I first started off slow with 250 mg twice a day, then went to 500 mg twice a day. One after lunch and one after dinner. As of late when I am taking 500 mg after breakfast, after two hours or so I am finding that I am experiencing mild hypoglycemia. Hence my doctor (brother) suggested me to take 250 mg after breakfast, 500 mg after lunch and 250 mg after dinner. That is dividing the same 1000 mg per day into three dosages. 250/500/250 per day. Is it a good proposition? He says that if I'm eating a small portion of food for breakfast, a little bit at lunch and a small amount of food at dinner time, these dosages will take care of the glucose levels. Is it t...

What are the differences in Glycomet GP1 Forte and Glycomet GP2 Forte? ## They both contain Metformin and Glimepiride, however, the difference is in the dosage of the Glimepiride in them. Aside from the 500mgs of Metformin, the GP1 contains 1mg of the Glimepiride and the GP2 contains 2mgs of it. These are both oral antidiabetic medications, that may cause side effects such as: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. My cousin overdosed on glycomet.... He was found dead.. Could this be because of glycomet? What is the safe dose one must take if their blood sugar level is about 150-170 in fasting? ## How much did they take? Has an overdose officially been confirmed via a medical examiner and lab serum tests? What dosage was he taking? The typical side effects of this medication, according to the NIH, are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and low blood sugar. ## Many thanks for replying. I couldn't get hold of the reports since it was all hush hush. I know for sure he was not a diabetic. From the number of tablets found by his side I reckon he might have taken a good 30+.

I would like to know whether I can take METFORMIN 1000MG, GLIMEPERIDE 2MG and VOGLIBOSE 0.2mg separately, because it will work out cheaper by almost 60% instead of the combination. (RS150-90). ## It should be okay to do so, as long as the dosages are the same, but it is always best to double check with your doctor to be sure. I am actually overweight with no diabetes problem, but i was advised by a friend that glycomet would help me to lose weight very quickly. In your opinion, is it advisable? I was taking Glycomet SR 1 gm 1 tab daily with result that my blood sugar remained - fasting 80-90 and PP 130-140. But for last few months I am taking 2 tab per day and the blood sugar is not comming down from 115 fasting and PP 145-150. Whether I have become immune to the drug? ## IT is possible, but no one can really say, without knowing your medical history as well as your diet habits. Even if you are taking a medication like this, it still doesn't mean you can just eat whatever you want and expect it to lower your blood sugar to normal. You still have to follow a low-fat, low-sugar diet to help control your sugar levels. Are you doing this?
