For diabetic treatment my dr asked me to take Glimepiride 2mg + Metformin 500mg (1-1), Voglibose 0.3 mg (1-1) & Pioglitazone 30mg + Metformin 500 mg (1-1). When in the monring after breakfast I took Glimepiride 2mg + Metformin 500mg together along with Pioglitazone 30mg + Metformin 500 mg by Noon, I felt heaviness in my head. Is it the side effect of these medicines? Should I continue to to take or leave it? Please advise. ## I took the combination and ended up in the emergency room because I couldn't uninate and they had to insert a catheter. My wife started checking on the combo plus other meds I was already taking (metoprolol for my heart and ranitidine for my gurd and it turns out they are contraindicated with the combo above. I am 77 and type 2 for 15 yrs. I now take 1000 mg Metformin in AM and again in PM. Now in addition my Dr wants me to take 1mg Glimepiride in AM. My A1c was 7.8 and glucose 185. What can I expect from the combination? Headache, gas, etc?? ## You may experience some nausea, dizziness, headache, gas and diarrhea for a week, or so, as listed by the FDA. However, they tend to be transient side effects and typically go away, once your body gets used to the new medication. You should also make sure to check your sugar level regularly, as it could cause it to drop too low. i have been taking Glycomet (metformin +glimepiride) i am getting weird dreams practically throughout the night. i have read somewhere that Metformin causes this. i would like to understand the reason/mechanism for metformin inducing this side effect. is there any way to get rid of this side effect?

Dear Doctor my mother is 64 and is diabetic previously she was taking Glutide CR 30 one tablet in the morning only and nothing during the day for the last 5years, recently the doctor changed the tablet to Gemer 1 this is effecting her in the morning when she take the tablet it makes her feels lathargic and as if slow down, only after 10minutes of taking breakfast she feels relaxed. kindly advice what to do. ## It contains Metformin and Glimepiride and when is she taking it?
