I've been on pain management for about six years and am having difficulty. I first noticed it with 20 mg IR tabs that my doctor replaced for 10 mg tabs, my insurance was only going to pay for so many. It wasn't three days that I realized that these weren't right. I got almost through the bottle that month in less time than I was supposed to and went back to my doctor for answers. He chastised me, sent me packin'. Then after some research like on this site, I printed the comments by fellow pain management suffers. That's when he fessed up about the manufacturers of generic are mostly off by as much as 20%, other comments have given it to be as much as 30%. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful with generic forms of medications. Doctor's, Pharmacy's, Pharmaceutical companies and ESPECIALLY insurance companies will not always tell you that the formula has been changed when they transferred to generic, in fact I have had a Pharmacist and my Insurance company flat out lie to me. I nearly ended up in the emergency room, and nearly had a car accident when Watson pharmaceuticals purchased Avasta Pharmaceuticals; then dropped the Watson name (I suspect because they have multiple legal suits filed against them) Avasta altered the formula of 10/325 Oxycodone which I use for horrific Fybromyalgia pain. I got Mylan oxycodone 30's today from a new pharmacy and I've never had these, only mallincroft and qualitest is the kind I've used and they worked...will these? my dr prescibed oxymorphone er 60 mg. and oxymorphone ir 5 mg. I was able to purchase the ir tablets in generic (but they cost about 50.00 more than the oxycodone ir 20 mg. that I was taking before he switched my meds) I was not able to get the oxymorphone er 60 mg. in generic form. My mom was taking a generic oxycodone for months it was not Activist. I pick up her scripts and know Activis is toxic from my own experience. The label read Mallinkot it looked different as the strength. Was increased. She said it did not help her pain despite the higher dose. She began to complain of itching too. After several days she was really sick with a swollen face BAD. Called MD several times. I told her to stop the pain med as this was the only thing new. Was given this to take every 12 hours by my pain doctor due to severe pain and having to have spinal and neck surgery. It really doesn't help and now people are telling me it's generic. Please help me. I suffer pain all the time from my Fibromyalgia to my disc and back problems. Is 20 mg oxycodone time release or not and how can I tell ## If you're prescribed it, there will be an ER on the bottle, what color is the pill and are there any #'s on it? ## The only time released Oxycodone available in the U.S. is the brand name Oxycontin, which has either an OC or an OP on the tablet and would have a 20 on the other and is pink. If that is not what you have, then you have a regular release formulation that is a generic for Roxicodone. Here's a link to learn more Oxycodone details for anyone that may need it. I need a list of pharmacies in kpt,tn that carries generic opana er in 10mg and 15mg ## I used to be able to obtain Percocet 10/325 now my local drug stores carry Oxycodone which they say is exactly the same formula as the Percocet. I know the drug stores pay less for this substitute but the pills do not seem to work the same for my back pain. I would like to know if there is any pain medication that compares or is an alternative to oxycontin (80mg), besides opana? ## There is a time released Morphine on the market, as both a generic and under the name brand MS Contin. It is not as strong as Oxycodone, so you would require a higher dosage. If you were taking 80mgs of Oxycontin, then you'd need 120mgs of MS Contin. There is also a patch on the market, which contains the active ingredient Fentanyl, it is very potent, over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Oxycontin is the name brand for the time released formulation, so none of it is available as a regular release formulation. The regular release formulations of Oxycodone would be OxyIR or Roxicodone, both of which are also available as generics. The OxyIR, which is an instant release is only available in 5mg capsules. However, the regular release is available in 5, 7.5, 15 and 30mg tablets. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. This is just for Oxycodone, by itself. Is there anything else I can help with?
