I've had GAD for prostate cancer, spinal stenosis and used 600mg Gabapentin once a day at bedtimeas a possibility for my anxiety. It did work for a period of time but did no help for my anxiety at all. My neurologist recommended I Taper the Gabapentin the following manner: 600mg for 1 week, 500mg with 100mg for another week, 400mg less 100mg another week, then 300mg week less 200mg less then a 100mg, then one last week 100mg to finish the Taper. Following that 6 weeks my anxiety increased, severe headache, lack of sleep and my GAD is now worse. I did then try Xanax and then Valium with continued pain, anxiety, headache, all day long since the Gabapentin was fully tapered & cant determine my GAD & previous pain that seemed to be further cause of the Gabapentin and don't k...

It's not from the Zoloft. Your having gabapentin WD's and symptoms of interdose withdrawals IDK ## Hi! I am not sure who you were responding to, but in the future to make a response to someone's post, you can use the reply button directly under their post, so they will receive notification of your response. As to withdrawals, a person can experience them if they abruptly stop any medication that they've been taking for a long period of time. Thus, both Zoloft and Gabapentin can cause withdrawal issues, including the risk of seizures, which may be dangerous, as reported by the FDA. Other withdrawal effects may include dizziness, headache, irritability, mood swings, rebound depression, anxiety, insomnia and diarrhea. Is there anything I can help with?

The Dr. Thought this would help with my nerve pain and anxiety I have been taking it for 3 weeks and have gained 6 pounds and it has affected my legg strength and how much I can walk should I quit taking it. I am a 68 year old woman. ## Hi Bev, Sorry to hear about the Gabapentin not working as intented. But I wouldn't stop taking it without talking to your doctor first. According to NIH.gov, if you were to suddenly stop taking it, you may experience withdrawal symptoms (such as anxiety, insomnia, pain, nausea, sweating, etc.) as a result of not tapering. For these reasons it's probably best to work with your doctor on gradually decreasing the dose over an allotted period of time (NIH recommends at least a week). I hope this helps! ## David thank you for your input but I already ...

I found a pill behind the seat of one of my employee's work trucks. It's a yellowish capsule with a big G on it and the numbers 5027. Should I be concerned? ## This G 5027 pill contains 300mgs of Gabapentin (NDC 59762-5027), which is used in the treatment of persisting pain, shingles; pain; anxiety; peripheral neuropathy; periodic limb movement disorder (and more), and belongs to the drug class gamma-aminobutyric acid analogs. Inactive Ingredients: - Lactose - Starch, Corn - Talc - Gelatin - Titanium Dioxide - Ferric Oxide Yellow - Fd&c Blue No. 2 It is possible your employee is abusing this. However I think its more likely he or she is prescribed it, but that's just a guess. ## I'm confused as to why you think it's okay to ask random people you don't know a...

I've been taking 300mg. gabapentin nightly for about 2 months I no longer want to take it because it does nothing for my back pain. Can I just stop taking it without problems. ## It is always best to taper this medication slowly, because stopping it abruptly can cause a risk of seizures. Other withdrawal effects may include rebound pain, depression, anxiety and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was off Gabapentin for many, many months and gradually went DOWNHILL with depression and anxiety. I finally went back on it yesterday and I actually feel "normal"! Well, normal for me. I do believe it's a miracle drug! I'm more grateful than I can say! ## Yes it's a miracle med that really works on my feet and legs the electrical pains disappear in about five mins after i take it and unfortunate thsts all it helps and just for taking that pain away it's a blessing,oh I forgot to mention i take the liquid because the pills are to big i can't swallow them and its NASTY ## Thank you both for the feedback on Gabapentin. I find it interesting to see so many mixed reviews on medications like Gabapentin, where some patients find it to be a great treatment option, ...

I don't understand how gabapentin is prescribed for my acute chronic fibromyalgia, when the consultant tells me they don't understand fibromyalgia should he be prescribing medication on a condition "no one fully understands"? after taking my very first pill this morning an hour later I feel drunk as a skunk! I'm a mother to two young children 7 & 5 yrs old, should they have to put up with sleeping mum or drunk mum? so far I dont like gabapentin! ## I have seen posts to gabapentin as the demonic drug. I have to agree whole heartedly with that. My dr put me on it for nerve damage over 4 years ago. He had me on 600 mg 2x a day. I stopped it in January of 2011 and suffered for 7-1/2 months severely with depression, sucidal thoughts, anxiety, every awful feeling a per...

Ive been on gabapentin 800mg 3 x's a day for several months for treatment of fibromyalgia pain and anxiety. I have been waking up every morning with diarrhea (2-4 trips to bathroom) for about the same amout of time, and my doctor claims the 2 are not related. I cant remember having a normal bowel movement since beginning the gaba and am wondering if anyone else may have had the same experience? The gaba has been the most effective treatment I've tried for the fibromyalgia pain & the added benefit of treating my anxiety has been wonderful as well & I'd hate to stop taking it. But if the trade off is daily diarrhea, i may have to stop! Of course my doc wants to run a bunch of expensive tests for the diarrhea, but if its as simple as stopping the gaba I'd rather sta...

brown & yellow cap 2666 ## I located the pill in description to be Gabapentin (300 mg). Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. For more information about this drug, please refer to the link below... If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you. ## I just started taking Gabapentin 300mg a few days ago. I think I'm going to stop. I feel dizzy, foggy headed, and a little shakey. The Doctor told me to try it because I was having weakness, depression, and foggy headed. This doesn't work for me, so I think I'll quit. After 3 days I can just stop? right?: Jeff ## I was prescribed gabapentin for anxiety. I'm wondering if this drug is commonly ...

I have been taking gabapentin for almost 2 months now. My doctor gave it to me for migrain head aches, restless leg syndrome and anxiety. I take 300 mg at bedtime every night. About an hour after I wake up in the morning I'm very sick to my stomach which sometimes lasts all day long. I also can not keep my legs still. I bounce them all day. About 3 hours before I go to bed I get very irritated. Once I take my night dose it all goes away. Could this be from the gabapentin? I do also take sertraline 50 mg every morning for my anxiety. ## Hello, Sharrie! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. It could actually be due to either medication, they've both been known to cause such side effects, as reported by the FDA. However, the restless legs is more ...

Hi, I've been on Gabapentin about two years, but recently the Dr. increased the dose to 300 mg three times a day...for anxiety. I have been only trying to take it every other day instead. On the off days, I feel crummy. But if i took it daily, then the eventual withdrawal would be horrendous from what I've read. Besides that, I'd build up a tolerance to it pretty quickly and wouldn't be as effective in a short amount of time. Does anyone else take it every other day instead of daily? ## Gabapentin has a short half life of 5 to 7 hours; that’s why it’s typically prescribed 3 times a day and sometimes 4 times a day. Skipping dosages and taking it every other day can cause interdosage withdrawals when you're late on your dosage or skip a day. Gabapentin is a...

Have been on Gabapentin for a year. Built up to 3200 a day for osteoarthritis in my feet. Decided to get off as it wasn't doing much for pain. My doctor brought me down to fast from 3200 to 1600 to 800 in 10 days. Now having stomach issues, anxiety, trouble sleeping, tightness in my chest. Been off of it for 8 days now. Does anyone know how long withdrawal lasts? Been told the higher the dose and time on it that it takes a while to feel better again. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you feeling? Have things improved, yet? There is really no precise time frame that can be given, because it can vary from person to person, it can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to over a month. As listed by the FDA, other withdrawal effects may also include rebound pain, fever, chills, and diarrhea. ## No...

And is it safe to drive on it? I am very worried about taking this drug. ## Is Gabapentin addictable? Also, I cannot afford to gain any weight. Am on a lot of meds already. ## i want to know if gabapentin can be given for bipolar disorder also I have anxiety and ocd just it says that it can be given for mania and anxiety and depression which are the symptoms of bipolar. I also have a personality disorder. ## Yes, gabapentin can be addictive physically when taken regularly for a period of time depending on the person. Some people may have symptoms and others little or no symptoms when discontinued. I am on 600mg 3*daily and if I miss a dose I feel it. My body will remind me within a few hours of missing a dose. I have been on gabapentin for about a year and a half. Good luck, and driving...

They have me on gabbapentin 600 mg 3 times a day (1200mg at bed time). So a total of 2400mg daily for bipolar and anxiety. I've become heavier in weight and impotent. Are these side effects and should I be taking anything else with it? Gabapentin works well but these side effects are making me not want to take it. ## Hello, Will! How are you? Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dry mouth, dizziness, mood swings and headache. There isn't really anything you 'should' be taking with it, prescribing anything is entirely up to your doctor. How long have you been taking it? ## correct only the activas by teva green tablet r636 are the only decent ones made in america that work well other than greenstone made in the...

I am on 600mgs gabapentin 3 times daily. It has caused weight gain and due to the short duration of action I have to dose three separate times. I wanted to know if pregabalin might be better for me. I take gabbys for anxiety and mood disorder. I have heard pregabalin is more efficient and effective. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. ## There's no way to say which one is more efficient and effective for any given person that tries it, since we are all different. What works well for one person may not work for another, and vice versa. As reported by the FDA, they both carry the risk of causing similar side effects, which aside from the weight gain, may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, and mood swings. Have you discussed the issues with your doctor?

My wife is prescribed Trintellix for depression. This is anti-depressant #3 in our effort to alleviate both anxiety and depression. She has a propensity for abusing benzos, but that is not an option now. We’re only on day 8, but she doesn’t appear to be making any progress. She has access to gabapentin and is finding that if she takes a large amount of this med (gabapentin), she can get temporary relief, experiencing some energy and mood enhancement. We’re talking about 2000mg to 3000mg at a time (once a day). Questions are: Is Gabapentin adversely masking any headway we might be making with Trintellix? Can Gabapentin, taken in these dosages, cause short-term and/or longterm negative effects for her? Obviously, we will run out of Gabapentin and this won’t be an o...

I was taking gabapentin 400mg 2x a day. Dr bumped me up to 600 2x a day, and I feel unsteady and wired in the head. Will my body adjust to it? Also he prescribed klonipin 1mg at bed. ## Hello, Kim! How are you doing? Yes, it is normal to experience side effects, any time your dosage is raised and they should taper off in about 4 weeks or so, once your body gets used to the new dosage. Typical side effects of Gabapentin may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Klonopin is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders, though it can also help with insomnia. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. If the symptoms continue or ...

I am currently taking gabapentin and tried to stop them however the withdrawal was awful I couldn't stand the insomnia, anxiety, light sensitive and extremely irritable, heart pounding. So I had to carry on taking them. Me and my partner are desperate for a child but a don't like the sound of how long it will take me to get off these tablets. Plus I work full time and long hours so can't put up with insomnia. Any suggestions and what are the effects on the baby if I carried on with a low dose? Thankyou

Been off Gabby for 5 weeks. Feeling pretty good except still have tightness in chest off and on. Anyone else have chest pain? Was on high dose for quite a while. Got off it too fast. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? You should have this checked out by your doctor to be safe, there are many things that could cause chest pain and some of them are very dangerous, such as heart conditions. The typical withdrawal effects of Gabapentin are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression, anxiety, seizures and diarrhea. There's a chance the chest pain is associated, but after 5 weeks, most symptoms should be gone. Are you any other medications? ## Just B P meds! Not really a pain more of an ache. Not bad and with all the other withdrawals it ...

I take gabapentin 100mg several times a day for anxiety. I also take 6 milligrams of Xanax and 90 milligrams of adderall. Is it safe to be taking these medications together? ## Hello, David! How are you? I didn't find any dangerous interactions or problems listed, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that can also be used to treat certain types of nerve pain, mood swings and some anxiety disorders. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
