I have been on Fluoxetine for 9 years and took 20mg but then I started taking every other day thinking I was gonna come off it, but started feeling bad again so I’m on my 4th week of taking it every day again. The side effects are really bad again, thought my body will be used to it. Can anyone help ## What side effects are you experiencing? Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! The NIH lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and weight loss, along with others. If you were taking it every other day, then started taking it every day, again, that is essentially a dosage change, so it is normal for you to experience side effects, again, for about 4 to 6 weeks.

I have finally got back to prozac instead of the generic version of prozac and my heartburn is gone.. I have suffered with SEVERE heartburn for 4 years. I finally talked my doctor into giving me the brand name instead of generic and sure enough that was the cause of it.. Back 20 years ago I was put on prozac and was on it for many years and about 4 years ago I started getting generic prozac (fluoxetine) and within 30 minutes of taking it I had SUPER SEVERE heartburn that lasted for many hours!!! I would take antacids, tums, zantac, pepto, milk, Everything but nothing would put the fire out!! It's been 2 weeks now on brand name prozac and NO HEARTBURN!!! THANK THE LORD!!!! Hi there, i started fluoxetine 3days ago but am already feeling side effects and want to stop. Will the withdrawals still occur even after only taking them for 3days? I was prescribed 20mg for post natal depression and anxiety. I dont think i want to be on then as want to try and perservere with brwast feeding which ive been told i have to stop as soon as im on them. I dont know what to do. ## In 2002 I didn't think i'd be able to breastfed because I took SSRI. However, a major Chicago pediatric practice said it was fine to nurse and take Zoloft, so I did, to give baby a good start. Supplemented with 2 bottles Enfamil a day, just in case. Around that time she experienced stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, etc. and it hasn't stopped since. It occurred to me that it could be the dosage amount. When googling, everything says 80 mg is the highest dosage. Is this correct? If so she needs to stop immediately and I will report the doctor!

I decided to break open my 40mg capsule and swallow it. BAD IDEA. It burned my throat like no tomorrow and made my whole head numb....Gross tasting and made me vomit. Whoever might think this a good idea... Just don't do it! Oh and it made me feel like I was choking to death also....Great...Worse than the anxiety I already had. Perfect... ## It is to prevent such effects, that they are made into a capsule form. Many medications will do odd things if you ingest them improperly, that is why tablets and capsules were invented. As my title says I've switched from celexa to fluoxetine 60 mg. I know the 60 mg is too high. Was just trying to get leveled out and then was coming down. My question is I've been taking the dose of 60mg fluoxetine for 11 days now per my cross taper schedule. Can I lower to 40 mg. now during the transferring phase and if so how do I go about it? Just stop taking one of the 20 mg tablets? I was always on 40 mg or lower (20mg) of the celexa but after a life threatening traumatic accident never got back down after 5 surgerys. I have been given Fluoxetine capsules and I'm wondering if they are placebos? I opened one up and to me looks white powdery and kinda fluffy is this Fluoxetine? ## Do you have a picture? What's the difference? Any unrelated side effects when switching from one to the other? Other hidden dangers? ## They are both SSRI antidepressants, some doctors will have you taper off of one, when switching to another, but most people can switch without any problems. Side effects of usage are also the same: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dry mouth. Thus, there is no real difference between the drug classes, just sometimes one works better for someone than another. Has your doctor suggested a switch?
