I HAVE BEEN ON FENTANYL PATCHES FOR 10 MOS. THEY WORKED FINE BUT IN THE PAST FEW MOS. I HAVE DEVELOPED BURNING ON THE SITE AND THEY FALL OFF IN ONLY 36 HOURS. ANY HELP? ## Have you talked to your doctor about it? How about your pharmacy? Is it possible you received patches from a different manufacturer? There may be a different inactive ingredient in the glue that's causing these problems.

I was on fentanyl for 3 years. I lost half of my monthly dose and just didn't take any. I had it last march 26 and JUST FOUND THE BOX! I have not been on any narcotics since then, I hurt really bad, is it safe to put on a patch? ## Have you consulted your doctor? What dosage are the patches? There may be some issues, since you went from being on it, to being off, then suddenly jump back on, without taking anything else in the meantime. Your tolerance levels may have changed, so I'd suggest consulting your doctor first. ## The out of date would not worry me as much as jumping back on. I'd suggest using breakthrough meds until you talk to Dr. You had no withdrawal. Did I miss the strength or no. I would not worry if its a start dose 12.5 or so

I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have, although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not know when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. I herniated a disc in Feb 2011 that didn't respond to a microdiscectomy, so was going thru intensive PT before deciding whether or not to do a fusion. Well, in early Dec of 2011, I came down with Guillian-Barre Syndrome, a rare syndrome where your immune system attacks your peripheral nervous system. Recovering from GBS can be extremely painful. My case left me temporarily paralyzed from the waist down and I've been I'm the wheelchair for almost 9mos. I have a wonderful therapist and am using my walker more and more each week. Anyway, I've been on oxycodone 5mg and tramadol since Oct and the pain relief has been minimal. My brother has Stage IV lung/bone cancer and the new pain cocktail is 8 mg. dilaudid and 150 fetanyl patch plus IV dilaudid every 2 hours. He will probably be released from the hospital today or tomorrow so they have been easing off the injectable dosage and administering it oralls. The increased dosage of the oral dilaudid is causing him to vomit, which will lead to dehydration etc. What is the next best solution to solving this insidious problem of keeping his pain under control without these side effects? I have tried placing it on different areas of my body to see if it will absorb better but I just do not feel like I am getting any medicine. My husband, age 77, developed severe acute pancreatitis and has been in the hospital for the past 8 months. He has been on Fentanyl patches (the lowest dose) plus some extra fentanyl injections anytime the nurses thought he might be feeling pain. His pancreatitis healed in 3 months, but by then he developed a huge back bed sore. if you take a 25 mg Fentanyl Patch and it is not that strong of a prescription for you, can you take additonal painkillers like vicodin as needed? I am only 19 and have has a disc protrusion. I have been prescribed fentanyl patches 50mcg/hour but after using them twice (6days) I felt terrible with a lot of sweating and shaking and vomiting. I thing cut down to the 25mcg/hour and have felt better usually but have started to wake up during the night with an intense tingling sensation that feels like it's from inside my forearms and it is unbearable, it lasts up to 7 hours. I just got my brothers autopsy report back and it says he died from overdose of Fentanyl and Methone . It says no alcohol. Methone amount was.05 fentanyl was .19 is that enough for someone to die? ## I am so very sorry for your loss. There's no specific range that can be given to answer your question. It depends on the person, their age, weight, overall health and their tolerance to narcotics. Some people can take quite a lot and not have a problem, while other may overdose at much lower doses. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic opiates, so there is a risk of them being habit forming and abused. Just checking in after not logging on for awhile. Today is my 34th day Fentanyl patch free! I'm so thankful! I'm also back to my original pain level. I have a patch that is called Transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr, it also says each Transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg Fentanyl. I am a first time user on this medication, what effects will I experience? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. Over the past couple of months I have been having little black outs. I don't pass out or anything I don't fall down, I just go into a dream state and I am sleeping. I always have a dream and when I come back I have to stop for a minute to decide is the dream real or is what I am doing real. I am even doing this when I am talking to people. No, the FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic and it can cause dizziness, drowsiness and fatigue as side effects, along with nausea, dry mouth and constipation. How many mgs.of roxycodone is equal to 100mg of fentanyl spray for under your tough? ## Two different pain medications can and usually do effect everyone differently whether it's the same dosage or not. The results would be different every time, based on tolerance, body chemistry, underlying health conditions, and several other personal factors. Fentanyl is also regarded as a significantly more potent pain medication. If you tried to take the amount of Roxicodone that would equal Fentanyl, you may as well have overdosed on Roxicodone. All in all, there is really no safe way to compare two very diiferent opiates. Narcotic conversions are innaccurate and are really just an educated guess. Be very careful when using Fentanyl.
