Fentanyl Side Effect
100+ Topics FoundI HAVE BEEN ON FENTANYL PATCHES FOR 10 MOS. THEY WORKED FINE BUT IN THE PAST FEW MOS. I HAVE DEVELOPED BURNING ON THE SITE AND THEY FALL OFF IN ONLY 36 HOURS. ANY HELP? ## Have you talked to your doctor about it? How about your pharmacy? Is it possible you received patches from a different manufacturer? There may be a different inactive ingredient in the glue that's causing these problems.
I was on fentanyl for 3 years. I lost half of my monthly dose and just didn't take any. I had it last march 26 and JUST FOUND THE BOX! I have not been on any narcotics since then, I hurt really bad, is it safe to put on a patch? ## Have you consulted your doctor? What dosage are the patches? There may be some issues, since you went from being on it, to being off, then suddenly jump back on, without taking anything else in the meantime. Your tolerance levels may have changed, so I'd suggest consulting your doctor first. ## The out of date would not worry me as much as jumping back on. I'd suggest using breakthrough meds until you talk to Dr. You had no withdrawal. Did I miss the strength or no. I would not worry if its a start dose 12.5 or so
I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have, although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not know when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. Thanks to everyone! ## Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I have Fibromyalgia and IT IS REAL!!!!!!!!! ## That is true, the Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, over 80 times stronger than Morphine...
I herniated a disc in Feb 2011 that didn't respond to a microdiscectomy, so was going thru intensive PT before deciding whether or not to do a fusion. Well, in early Dec of 2011, I came down with Guillian-Barre Syndrome, a rare syndrome where your immune system attacks your peripheral nervous system. Recovering from GBS can be extremely painful. My case left me temporarily paralyzed from the waist down and I've been I'm the wheelchair for almost 9mos. I have a wonderful therapist and am using my walker more and more each week. Anyway, I've been on oxycodone 5mg and tramadol since Oct and the pain relief has been minimal. So, my PCP (handling pain meds in lieu of ortho right now- not seeing ortho until GBS "gets fixed.") put me on the 50ug fentanyl patch. The firs...
My brother has Stage IV lung/bone cancer and the new pain cocktail is 8 mg. dilaudid and 150 fetanyl patch plus IV dilaudid every 2 hours. He will probably be released from the hospital today or tomorrow so they have been easing off the injectable dosage and administering it oralls. The increased dosage of the oral dilaudid is causing him to vomit, which will lead to dehydration etc. What is the next best solution to solving this insidious problem of keeping his pain under control without these side effects? Thank you. ## Hello, Law! How is he doing? There is really no way to avoid the side effects, if they're going to happen, they're going to happen. Sometimes, taking the medication with food can help to minimize the nausea. The doctors may also be able to prescribe a medicatio...
Fentanyl, also spelled fentanil, is a powerful opioid used as a pain medication and, together with other medications, for anesthesia.[3] It is also used as a recreational drug, sometimes mixed with heroin, cocaine, or methamphetamine. Its potentially deadly overdose effects can be neutralized by naloxone.[5] Fentanyl is commonly used to create counterfeit drugs marketed as OxyContin, Xanax, Adderall, and other pills. It has a rapid onset and its effects general...
I was prescribed fentanyl patch 25 mcg but I cannot even tell I have one on. I have tried placing it on different areas of my body to see if it will absorb better but I just do not feel like I am getting any medicine. Anyone else with this problem and any solutions please would help I have had two back surgeries and just had neck surgery so I really need relief ## Harley. I hope your doing better today. I have had many experiences with Fentanyl and it's good that you don't feel it. I have had some that fall off. It does take time to be absorb into your system via your pores. Please be careful with taking hot showers it tends to absorb much quicker, thus not lasting as long. I have asked the pharmacist to see if they have special cover ups for the patch while in shower. I am gett...
My husband, age 77, developed severe acute pancreatitis and has been in the hospital for the past 8 months. He has been on Fentanyl patches (the lowest dose) plus some extra fentanyl injections anytime the nurses thought he might be feeling pain. His pancreatitis healed in 3 months, but by then he developed a huge back bed sore. From the beginning, even when they were giving him morphine at the beginning, before the fentanyl patches, he developed breathing and sleeping problems, with intermittent rapid panicky breathing spells. With the patch, he has had also hallucinations and was forever either totally sleepless or totally drowsy. Because of the breathing problems, he has now a tracheatomy. His immune system was also compromised and he had several severe infections, i.e. lung and bloo...
if you take a 25 mg Fentanyl Patch and it is not that strong of a prescription for you, can you take additonal painkillers like vicodin as needed? Like taking a few vicodin every few hours during the day while on the patch. ## Please DON'T first stop the Fentanyl It's a nightmare!!!! You are on a path you don't want to travel. Find another way, PLEASE for your own sake!!! ## Fentanyl is 80times stronger than Morphine, therefore, I guarantee it is STRONG for you! Mixing it with other narcotics would be extremely dangerous, it is highly addictive and you run the risk of overdose, with possible fatal consequences. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more about this medication here: This is one of the MOST PO...

I am only 19 and have has a disc protrusion. I have been prescribed fentanyl patches 50mcg/hour but after using them twice (6days) I felt terrible with a lot of sweating and shaking and vomiting. I thing cut down to the 25mcg/hour and have felt better usually but have started to wake up during the night with an intense tingling sensation that feels like it's from inside my forearms and it is unbearable, it lasts up to 7 hours. Is this a side effect from the fentanyl? And how to do stop it? Do I stop wearing the patches? Because I can not handle to feeling down my arms. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you ## Hello, Sav! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. Did you cut the 50mcg patches in half, or did you pick up new ones in the 25mcg dose? A...
I just got my brothers autopsy report back and it says he died from overdose of Fentanyl and Methone . It says no alcohol. Methone amount was.05 fentanyl was .19 is that enough for someone to die? ## I am so very sorry for your loss. There's no specific range that can be given to answer your question. It depends on the person, their age, weight, overall health and their tolerance to narcotics. Some people can take quite a lot and not have a problem, while other may overdose at much lower doses. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic opiates, so there is a risk of them being habit forming and abused. Their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Did he have any medical conditions?
Just checking in after not logging on for awhile. Today is my 34th day Fentanyl patch free! I'm so thankful! I'm also back to my original pain level. Unfortunately I thought I could also go right into my hydrocodone cessation. I did. But I need it. Trying to cope for ten more days until my next appt ! ## Hello, Yvonne! I am so sorry that you are in pain, again. Has it eased up, any? When you go cold turkey off of such medications, there is a risk of rebound pain occurring, which can sometimes be worse than the pain you started taking it to treat, so you may be dealing with a double whammy, the rebound effect and your old pain returning. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry...
I have a patch that is called Transdermal system and it says 25 mcg/hr, it also says each Transdermal system contains: 2.55 mg Fentanyl. I am a first time user on this medication, what effects will I experience? ## Well, this can have some adverse effects. I am not sure if you have previously used narcotics, I know this should not be used by anyone who has not already built up a narcotic tolerance as it is a very, very strong med. 80 times stronger than Morphine as a matter of fact. My doctor tried taking from Darvocet to the patch 25s and I was so sick, for days, that I couldn't even hold down water, even when she gave me the strongest antinausea that she could. Some people love these, they can work wonders for pain, but they don't agree with some people, so you will basically ...
Over the past couple of months I have been having little black outs. I don't pass out or anything I don't fall down, I just go into a dream state and I am sleeping. I always have a dream and when I come back I have to stop for a minute to decide is the dream real or is what I am doing real. I am even doing this when I am talking to people. I am afraid I am going to loose my job. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Could it be from the Fentanyl? I use patches - 75 mgs ever 24 hours. Thank you, Please help me. ## Hello, Margaret! How are you doing? There is a chance that you may be experiencing focal point, or partial seizures. They often manifest that way, so it's very important that you have this checked out by your doctor, as soon as possible. It could be dangerous, ...
Hi I have been on oxynorm 100ml a day and 150mg fentanyl patches every three days I want to stop the oxynorm liquid does anyone no what the sideaffects will be Many thanks Dean ## Hello, Dean! How are you? Oxynorm contains the active ingredient Oxycodone, so you may experience some withdrawal effects, such as chills, fever, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness and rebound pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi thanks for your help it has been three days since I last had any oxynorm, I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms yet will it still happen Dean
I am always tired. Looking for energy. Friend gave me a fentanyl 75mcg patch. Will that give me energy? ## Hello, Mozzy! How are you? No, the FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic and it can cause dizziness, drowsiness and fatigue as side effects, along with nausea, dry mouth and constipation. This is also very potent and should not be used if it wasn't prescribed for you. If you are not opiate tolerant, you could easily overdose. Is there anything else I can help with?
i going on suboxen and need to knnow when i start subs ## Hello, Mike! How are you? You actually need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. It contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics to prevent them being used, while someone is being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. What instructions did your doctor provide? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been off of the Fentanyl?
How many mgs.of roxycodone is equal to 100mg of fentanyl spray for under your tough? ## Two different pain medications can and usually do effect everyone differently whether it's the same dosage or not. The results would be different every time, based on tolerance, body chemistry, underlying health conditions, and several other personal factors. Fentanyl is also regarded as a significantly more potent pain medication. If you tried to take the amount of Roxicodone that would equal Fentanyl, you may as well have overdosed on Roxicodone. All in all, there is really no safe way to compare two very diiferent opiates. Narcotic conversions are innaccurate and are really just an educated guess. Be very careful when using Fentanyl. Many people are not aware that the 100mcg is only an hourly ...
