CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO KEEP THE PATCH FROM COMING OFF AFTER SECOND DAY ? I SHOWER A COUPLE TIMES A DAY AND ON THE SECOND DAY THE PATCH WON'T STAY ON.THEN YOU USE MORE THAN WHAT IS PERSCRIBED AND YOU RUN OUT OF PATCHES AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T PAY FOR ANY MORE THAN PERSCRIBED, THEN COMES WITHDRAWAL? ## The information I received with my patches indicate that the patch should not get wet. I have the same problem. In reading other post, there is a clear cover that can be obtained to protect the patch from water. I have not researched for any sourses, but will soon. I am having a problem where it feels like my brain is spinning inside my head. I have been on Fentanyl patches for six years increasing dosages every couple years getting to 100mcg/hr q48. For the past three months I am sick, sleeping for 14 hrs at a time, with increased pain in my feet and legs on the second day. The first day on a new patch I feel exceptionally well with diminished pain. Is there a life issue with patches? Do others have this to happen to them? ## There have been other people with similar complaints about some of the patches. Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. I am currently wearing the Fentanyl 25 patch. I have had some (4) bad experiences this month alone. Exerting myself - gardening, carrying groceries, lifting anything; I become short of breath, extremely rapid heart rate and my legs and upper body become very weak. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. To be fair, I had awful leg weakness before I started taking or using anything. hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain.The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I was on 180 mg of ms contin after tapering down from 300mg for 16 yrs. I wanted to try fentanyl patches so my Dr gave me 75 mcg patch. Wow I had absolutely no pain .....but after 55-60 hrs I would wake up sweats flip popping all over totally withdrawals then I talked to a friend, she's on 50 mcg. I'm back to ms contin 120 mg ready to taper to 90 mg but it doesn't help the pain. I have been using Fentanyl Patch for over a year now. I am up to 75 mcgs a day. I have been using Tegaderm over the patches to keep them off. They work very well. I have been using those almost as long as I have been on the patch. About 1 1/2-2 months ago, I started experiencing burns on my skin where the patch is. My mom calls them "chemical burns." It's hard to have the patches on as they itch so much and when I take them off, my skin is very red and then gets very scaly and starts to peel off (while still being very itchy.) what is the difference between liquid and jelly types ## I'am on 75 mcg of fentanyl patch jelly form. I found when i used the other fentanyl patches with the glue all over them i would break out from the glue. So what is the difference between the patches and do they work as well. I was told to use a steroid nasal spray under the patch before applying it, but everyone i've asked has never heard of using the spray before applying patch. My wife has fibromyalgia and is in a significant amount of pain every day. She has been on a 100mg fentanyl patch for years. Then she chose to reduce it to a 50mg patch. She does not want to be on this patch any longer. She quit cold turkey. She is on day 4 without a patch and I just want everyone to know that my wife did it! These patches are lousy imo. Does anyone know which pharmacy regularly stocks other brands, not Apotex? I am on the 25 mcg patch. I live in Maine around only chain pharmacies. I'm curious about something that's happening with my Fentanyl patch taper. I've spent the past few months reducing my dosage by leaving some of the backing on and decreasing in increments. I've gone from 75 mcgs to 25, however I just could not increase the time between patches. Anywhere from 23-36 hours I would have panic attacks, bowel disorders, pupil enlargement, severe pain, heavy painful legs, etc. I decided I wouldn't try to drop below 25 until I could get to where I could get back to the 72 hour change. Finally, after four months I made it to 75 hrs and then only changed it because it was bedtime and I didn't want to wake up in the misery of withdrawal.
