I have been on Fentanyl patches for six years increasing dosages every couple years getting to 100mcg/hr q48. For the past three months I am sick, sleeping for 14 hrs at a time, with increased pain in my feet and legs on the second day. The first day on a new patch I feel exceptionally well with diminished pain. Is there a life issue with patches? Do others have this to happen to them? ## There have been other people with similar complaints about some of the patches. They are supposed to be time released for 72 hours, but many people have to change them sooner to maintain adequate levels of pain relief. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Is this the only pain medication you use, or are you on something else for breakthrough pain? ## I am on Oxcodone for break thru pain. I only time have ...
Please let me know the gel brands for fent 25 patches. I always used PAR and now I guess they are obsolete. I'm in northern virginia and I hate the foil backed ones as they are like gum when they get wet and then a ball of gook. I could handle the little tiny ones that are non gel but I they too aren't very sticky once they get wet. The gel ones, I can take off when I shower and stick them back on their plastic and re-stick. I wear them on my hip wear my underwear elastic is and worse case scenerio, I put a bandaid over it if the sticky isn't very sticky. Thank you for any names of gel 25's that I can ask my pharmacy to order without sounding like I'm desperate lol ## Two pharmacies near Woodbridge VA, attempted to order the PAR brand and came back to say they couldn...
Can I just stop taking fentanyl patch 25? ## No you risk suffering from opiate withdrawal if you have been on the medication for any length of time say for more than a few months. Opiate withdrawal is extremely painful and very unnecessary especially if you have a legitimate prescription for it. ## That is correct, while it may seem small, since the dosage is only 25mcgs, Fentanyl is actually a very potent narcotic. It is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Therefore, if you have been taking it for awhile and want to stop using it, you should seek medical assistance for the best way to taper off, while minimizing the withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Of of 25 is minuscule I'm on 150!,... ## Ahhh...ok,here's my situation...I ...
I am currently wearing the Fentanyl 25 patch. I have had some (4) bad experiences this month alone. Exerting myself - gardening, carrying groceries, lifting anything; I become short of breath, extremely rapid heart rate and my legs and upper body become very weak. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. To be fair, I had awful leg weakness before I started taking or using anything. I don't know what to do. I took an OxyContin (30) mg and had an even worse experience than mentioned above. (Shortness of breath & rapid heart beat went on longer). I have ruptured disks and extreme leg pain that's why I started pain med. I hope someone can help me. ## Hello, KathyB! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the experien...
hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I am going to ask for 48 hours, and 50mcgs on the patch, and switching to oxycontin for B.T. pain.Hows that sound to ...
I was on 180 mg of ms contin after tapering down from 300mg for 16 yrs. I wanted to try fentanyl patches so my Dr gave me 75 mcg patch. Wow I had absolutely no pain .....but after 55-60 hrs I would wake up sweats flip popping all over totally withdrawals then I talked to a friend, she's on 50 mcg. I'm back to ms contin 120 mg ready to taper to 90 mg but it doesn't help the pain. So the pharmacist said since I also felt anxiety, depression the two weeks I tried the patch he said that maybe it was too high of a dose. Anyway my friend said she's on 50 mcg which is what I would go on and she had same thing for about 3 weeks. My ins will pay for 15 patches for 30 days so why can't I just change them every 2 1/2 days so that doesn't happen or will my percocet 10's ...
Filed under FentanylI have been using Fentanyl Patch for over a year now. I am up to 75 mcgs a day. I have been using Tegaderm over the patches to keep them off. They work very well. I have been using those almost as long as I have been on the patch. About 1 1/2-2 months ago, I started experiencing burns on my skin where the patch is. My mom calls them "chemical burns." It's hard to have the patches on as they itch so much and when I take them off, my skin is very red and then gets very scaly and starts to peel off (while still being very itchy.) I've not had a problem at all before this, and I have not brought it up to my doctor yet. Is it "wetness" that is doing this? Is it getting too hot underneath the patch because of the Tegaderm? That is just my guess. Or maybe my chest has ...
Will I have withdrawals if I take my first ever fentanyl patch off 19hours after my first patch ever? ## Hello, Bt! How are you? You may experience some mild withdrawal effects, as listed by the FDA, which may include nausea, dizziness and diarrhea, but they shouldn't be severe. Is the mediation causing you some type of problem?

what is the difference between liquid and jelly types ## I'am on 75 mcg of fentanyl patch jelly form. I found when i used the other fentanyl patches with the glue all over them i would break out from the glue. So what is the difference between the patches and do they work as well. I was told to use a steroid nasal spray under the patch before applying it, but everyone i've asked has never heard of using the spray before applying patch. So i've decided to just stay with the jelly form. Has anyone else had this problem and do the patches work the same jelly patches versus the ones with glue all over them. I'm still not getting much relief anyway, i've had chronic pain for some time and i'm only 52 but due to all my health problems i really don't have a life any...
I need to get off of Fentanyl but can't find any help. Where can I get some help for withdrawal on Fentanyl patches in the Atlanta Georgia area? ## Faye, if you still need help, get a doctor to prescribe you tramadol. I cold turkeyed off fentanyl over 6 months ago, and my doctor told me afterward that if I needed it, he would have given me tramadol. My withdrawal wasn't too bad, just a little insomnia. I was only on 100 MG fentanyl patches every 48 hours for 2 years. But my doctor said tramadol is the best thing to withdraw from opium-based drugs. ## Faye, it would be best to consult your doctor, they can help you set up a safe, and tolerable tapering schedule to help you stop using the Fentanyl. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may...
My wife has fibromyalgia and is in a significant amount of pain every day. She has been on a 100mg fentanyl patch for years. Then she chose to reduce it to a 50mg patch. She does not want to be on this patch any longer. She quit cold turkey. She is on day 4 without a patch and I just want everyone to know that my wife did it! My wife is going through hell right now but she is fighting and she is doing it! ## All opiates are an adventure, in my opinion, and quite often aren't worth the little bit of help with pain that they provide, but not everyone will agree with me. I'm glad your wife is doing well, but please keep an eye on her for another week, or so, as there is still a slight risk of her experiencing some dangerous withdrawal symptoms, such as severe rebound pain, and seiz...
These patches are lousy imo. Does anyone know which pharmacy regularly stocks other brands, not Apotex? I am on the 25 mcg patch. I live in Maine around only chain pharmacies. No private pharmacies around. I prefer Sandoz or Mylan as I have had both. Never the other brands but willing to try any other generic. Thanks for reading. ## Anyone can answer. You don't have to be from Maine. Thanks. ## I live in Canada, and I dont know if you can get TEVA Pharmaceuticals, but I use that Generic brand often and have no issues with it. Also, You could go brand name and get it from Jansen Pharmaceuticals. I have dealt with Jansen before about Fentanyl, they used to send me a box of 100 patch covers every 3 months to keep the patch from falling off. FREE. So I KNOW they will work with you. TRy ...
Is fentanyl a good drug for a specific part of my body.? ## Hello, May! How are you? No, the Fentanyl patch is systemic, it will work throughout your entire body to relieve pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I'm curious about something that's happening with my Fentanyl patch taper. I've spent the past few months reducing my dosage by leaving some of the backing on and decreasing in increments. I've gone from 75 mcgs to 25, however I just could not increase the time between patches. Anywhere from 23-36 hours I would have panic attacks, bowel disorders, pupil enlargement, severe pain, heavy painful legs, etc. I decided I wouldn't try to drop below 25 until I could get to where I could get back to the 72 hour change. Finally, after four months I made it to 75 hrs and then only changed it because it was bedtime and I didn't want to wake up in the misery of withdrawal. Since then, I have had this next patch on for 132 hours with no ill effect! I have taken a (very) few ha...
Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? Thanks ## Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic opiate available on the market, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. How often do you change the patches? What other medications have you tried? ## I hope by now you've found a medication or mixture of meds that are helpful. As there are too many people handing out bad information & using these sorts of places to find drugs, it's not proper to ask for names of "better" medications. There are medications stronger than fentanyl & for osteo pain; a mix of NSAIDs & narcotics, as well as physical therapy & exercise, have been proven to be most beneficia...
