hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I am going to ask for 48 hours, and 50mcgs on the patch, and switching to oxycontin for B.T. pain.Hows that sound to ...

Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? Thanks ## Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic opiate available on the market, it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Learn more Fentanyl details here. How often do you change the patches? What other medications have you tried? ## I hope by now you've found a medication or mixture of meds that are helpful. As there are too many people handing out bad information & using these sorts of places to find drugs, it's not proper to ask for names of "better" medications. There are medications stronger than fentanyl & for osteo pain; a mix of NSAIDs & narcotics, as well as physical therapy & exercise, have been proven to be most beneficia...

How many percocets equal the 100mcg patches changed every 48 hours ## Hello, Tina! How are you? Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, so you'd actually need several hundred milligrams of Oxycodone to equal a 100mcg patch and you can't take enough Percocet to be equal to it. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, you'd overdose, especially on the Acetaminophen, before you ever reached the same level of efficacy. Even if you tried to space it over 2 days, as you would the patch. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor switched you form one to the other? ## okay? I have a question on pain ...

what companies still make fentanyl gel patch ## Unfortunately, I can't find a list of all current manufacturers, since it can change at any given time, when one company takes over another, or decides to stop manufacturing it. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Have you tried checking with your pharmacist? They should have a list of what's available and let you know which manufacturer's product they can order. ## I tried calling pharmacies. .. been on them since 06 and they treat u like a junkiee. Malincroft was bought by PAR. They have the gels. Some pharmacists will order for u. If I dont used gels.. the pain starts the early second day...by night..im in wds. I have neuropathy and a left foot drop due to my injury which happened in 2009. ## Hello, Alyse! How are you feeling? I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. However, this website does not manufacture, prescribe nor sell any medications or products. It is an information only resource. Are you currently on Fentanyl? I have been on Fentanyl patches for six years increasing dosages every couple years getting to 100mcg/hr q48. For the past three months I am sick, sleeping for 14 hrs at a time, with increased pain in my feet and legs on the second day. The first day on a new patch I feel exceptionally well with diminished pain. Is there a life issue with patches? Do others have this to happen to them? ## There have been other people with similar complaints about some of the patches. They are supposed to be time released for 72 hours, but many people have to change them sooner to maintain adequate levels of pain relief. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Is this the only pain medication you use, or are you on something else for breakthrough pain? ## I am on Oxcodone for break thru pain. I only time have ...

How is it all of the sudden I am told 4 days before my due date for 15 Fentanyl patches (100 mcg 1 patch every 2 days) will not be filled because Medicaid doesn't wan't to pay for it? I heard this started in 2012 yet they have been paying for it! It's February 2013 so why the all the sudden very very short notice? This is in Indiana.I also get Flexiril.Thank you in advance. ## I am sorry that you are having such a problem, but I don't have an answer for you. This website specializes in information on medications, their uses and side effects, but nothing to do with coverage of insurance and etc. Do you have a case worker or someone that you can call to ask about it? They'd be the best person to consult in such a matter as I am sure they are much more informed of any c...

My wife has fibromyalgia and is in a significant amount of pain every day. She has been on a 100mg fentanyl patch for years. Then she chose to reduce it to a 50mg patch. She does not want to be on this patch any longer. She quit cold turkey. She is on day 4 without a patch and I just want everyone to know that my wife did it! My wife is going through hell right now but she is fighting and she is doing it! ## All opiates are an adventure, in my opinion, and quite often aren't worth the little bit of help with pain that they provide, but not everyone will agree with me. I'm glad your wife is doing well, but please keep an eye on her for another week, or so, as there is still a slight risk of her experiencing some dangerous withdrawal symptoms, such as severe rebound pain, and seiz...

I need to get off of Fentanyl but can't find any help. Where can I get some help for withdrawal on Fentanyl patches in the Atlanta Georgia area? ## Faye, if you still need help, get a doctor to prescribe you tramadol. I cold turkeyed off fentanyl over 6 months ago, and my doctor told me afterward that if I needed it, he would have given me tramadol. My withdrawal wasn't too bad, just a little insomnia. I was only on 100 MG fentanyl patches every 48 hours for 2 years. But my doctor said tramadol is the best thing to withdraw from opium-based drugs. ## Faye, it would be best to consult your doctor, they can help you set up a safe, and tolerable tapering schedule to help you stop using the Fentanyl. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may...

These patches are lousy imo. Does anyone know which pharmacy regularly stocks other brands, not Apotex? I am on the 25 mcg patch. I live in Maine around only chain pharmacies. No private pharmacies around. I prefer Sandoz or Mylan as I have had both. Never the other brands but willing to try any other generic. Thanks for reading. ## Anyone can answer. You don't have to be from Maine. Thanks. ## I live in Canada, and I dont know if you can get TEVA Pharmaceuticals, but I use that Generic brand often and have no issues with it. Also, You could go brand name and get it from Jansen Pharmaceuticals. I have dealt with Jansen before about Fentanyl, they used to send me a box of 100 patch covers every 3 months to keep the patch from falling off. FREE. So I KNOW they will work with you. TRy ...

What other medications have you tried? ## Hi Patch is every 3 days, I cant recall the names, but there has been allot of different tablets etc over the last 24 months. People keep saying these patches are the strongest etc yet I find they don't really make any difference on me at all, If I don't take them there is no real noticeable change. ## Is it that you dont get the euphoria? I have chronic back pain from a major car accident . I have been on the fentanyl. Patch 100 mcq every other day. Yesterday I went to my dr and she told me about some new law our wonderful government has imposed. According to her fentanyl, subutex, and methadone are all in this list of drugs that the government has decided to attack. There is some number associated with each drug and then it's multiplied. By the mg of what ever medicine you are taking if the number is over 200 it puts you in a red class and that is a NoNo. I have been on this for 15 years and my dr just totally refused to write another script staring that she would be in trouble with the government if she continued to write it. She did offer a 2 week supply of a much lesser medication and said I could go I a pain cli...

I found a fentanyl patch in the closet that's probably 3 months old , it wasnt ever used but it's out of its packaging . Can I still use it ? ## Hello Hunter, Yes like all medications they have an expiration date. I'm looking right now at some old 100mcg/hr for 72 hours that I use to use. I got them from the pharmacy about 6 months ago and their expiration date is Aug. 2016 So that would be about a 1 year and 8 months expiration since it was dispensed. As long as the backing hasn't been removed it should be OK and stick to the skin. Be sure to apply it where you have the most fat tissue for best absorption. DO NOT try and ingest any part of the patch's active ingredient. It can cause an overdose! The total amount of Fentanyl in the 100mcg/hr patch is 11mg total and t...

Hi I'm on 100 I do know when they run but they don't desalt seem to do much what is better then this for osteo pain? What other medications have you tried? How long do you wear each patch? ## Fentanyl should NEVER be used for osteo pain. It works on nerve pain but I've never know it to work on knee replacement, etc. 100 mcg/hr is the MAXIMUM dose. Any more than that can be FATAL. I'm not a physician, but I'd recommend Naproxin 500 mg twice a day. It is the active ingredient in Alieve BUT it is the prescription strength and is cheaper than any other drug I've found that works. Fentanyl s...

Does anyone know what brand of the fentanyl patch 100mcg that Wal-Mart carries now? I know that they had only carried the one brand that was recalled with the gel, which was because people were overdosing on it causing death. After reading up on this there were people who were misusing, abusing the patches, digesting the gel or smoking it, which made it bad for those who depended on this certain patch for their pain relief, I used to use the patch for my excruciating constant pain and it was great only Medicare would no longer pay for it switching me to the generic fentanyl patch which only works half as good as the recalled patches. People in the US seem to abuse prescription meds a lot and those who depend on the meds have to suffer when they're then recalled. If anyone knows what...

I have been taking 60mg morphine sulfate er for 10 plus years with 30mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain relief. A friend of mine who also has severe pain is on fentynal patches and I was wondering which one is better? What I am taking now is beginning to not work as well as it use to. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. However, it depends on which medication works best for you and what your doctor feels is safe for you to try. I can't find a pharmacy that has 100 µmcg patches patches in Houston ## Hello, Chrystal! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. We are now into the time of year when there is usually a shortage of controlled substances, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Once a manufacturer reaches their yearly allotted limit, they cannot manufacture any new product, until after the new year. Every year, we inevitable end up with demand exceeding the supply, which results in a shortage for the last few months of the year. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best suggestion I can make is to see what your pharmacy does have...

This is my 1st post ever, anywhere. I am trying to get off Fentanyl. 7 years ago I was Rx'ed 25 mcg patches every 72 hrs. Went to every 48 hrs within a month. Went to a 50 every 48 to a 75 every 48 to the 100 mcg every 48 hrs.. Been on 100 mcg's (48 hrs) for several years now and I'm sick and tired of taking the patch. I have DDD, two failed rotator cuff surgeries as well as an elbow surgery (pain). The shoulder and back pain is the worst. I'm 52 years old, worked a steady job with Ma Bell as a lineman 25 years and wore my body out. Three weeks ago I started cutting my Mylan brand 100 mcgh patches in half. So far so good. I did notice that I started taking more of the Dilauid I'm rx'ed for breakthrough pain. My plan is to keep cutting the patches in half till I...
