OMEPRAZOLE 20 mg IS THIS MEDICINE STILL EFFECTIVE & SAFE TO TAKE NOW ? ## It doesn't get dangerous, once it's expired, but it has most likely started to lose some efficacy and won't work as well. That said, if it the bottle was opened 2 years, like an over the counter bottle or in a bottle that was dispensed by your pharmacy, then they expired one year from that time. Is ranitidine still safe to take after the expiration/discard date? Mine is 10/10/12. ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Most medications, such as Ranitidine, don't get dangerous when expired, but they do begin to lose efficacy after that point. Thus, the older they are, the less they are going to work.
