How long does it take for the side effect of reddening of the body due to widdening of small blood vessels to go away when the drug is discontinued ## It really depends on how long you were taking it, it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, or so. Some gentle massage and increasing your activity levels might help, if you're doctor approves of you doing such. Are there any questions or comments?

Is there a difference between these 2 meds I was on diliazem 120 er/xr for 4 years and had no problems and now the med was changed to cartia 180 xt and I have headaches congestion which aggravates my ashma and stomach aches ## Hello, Clare! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. They are the same, Cartia XT is just the name brand. It seems odd that it would cause congestion headaches which aggravate your other conditions. Are you allergic to any inactive ingredients that you know of? Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your doctor? ## I was taking diliazem sr 240 mg now the pharmacy gave me diltiazem xr 240 g what's the whats the difference?

I was taking Diltiazem 120 24 HR. I just filled my prescription at Safeway and they gave me Cartia XT SR 24 hour 120. Is this the same? ## Yes, that's just a name brand for the same medication. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I use to take Cardizem cd 180mg. I have lots of trouble with generics. I was switched to Diltiazem hcl sa caps some time ago (mfg TEVA) and have been doing fine. When picking up my scrips today, I was given Cardia XT (mfg Watson Labs) will I notice any difference? Are the fillers similar? ## Hello, Jackie! How are you? There are quite a few differences in the inactive ingredients, so if you're sensitive to them, you may experience some issues, but the only way to find out is to actually try it and see. What types of problems do you usually have with generics? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. ## Nausea, coughing, feel like coming down with flu, some brain fog. Did try can...

My prior prescription said I could take without regard to food. The new one said take on an empty stomach. Both are 180 mg. ## Based on information I've gathered, Cardizem CD is just another brand name of Diltiazem XT (as they both contain the same active ingredient). Diltiazem is said to be the generic version, however both medications are reported to come in a 24-hour sustained-release capsule. Other than that, the only other differences may be that they are manufactured by separate companies, and possibly contain a different set of inactive ingredients, otherwise known as fillers. Some of these fillers may be a determinant as to whether or not is it best to take the pill on an empty stomach versus having it with food. For future reference, other brand names of Diltiazem include t...

Not sure what they are for. ## How long does it take for diltia XT 180mg to leave your system and side effects to subside? ## My doctor started me on Diltiazem HCL time released beads 240/CP24 in January of 2012. Over time the meds continued to make me dizzy and the headaches would come and go. My doctor said it was my body adjusting to my blood pressure. My BP went down but not as much as I wanted. My insurance plan covers this med so I don't have to pay for it. On 3/24/11 was not feeling well because of the headaches and dizziness so I went to the ER. The ER doc asked me why I was taking Diltiazem......I told her that's what my doctor prescribed. My heart is fine. After checking me out she prescribed Hydralazine 10 mg and I was discharged. Took them the next day and there were...

My new pharmacy plan puts my Diltiazem ER 180mg XT capsule into a Tier 3 costing me $60 for a 90 day supply. A tier 1 or 2 drug is free. I would like to know if taking a free (Tier 1) 90mg Diltiazem tablet twice per day at 12hr intervals would give me the same health benefit? Is the release of the tablet medication adverse to an even release of the ER capsule? ## Hello, Derf! How are you? Yes, you should be able to do that, without a problem, you'd just take the medication twice a day,, instead of once. Of course, you need to check with your doctor, because they'll have to write a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with?

Reference Pages: Diltiazem, Norvasc ## Difference between Diltiazem SA Caps and Diltiazem ER(dilt-XR) Caps? ## ER or XT stands for Extended Release, which means the drug is released slowly over a certain period of time, rather than all at once like regular release medications. ## Dark green, gray capsule with # R-2579 on it ## w/hat is the difference between narvasc and ditiazem ? do they act differently on the system. since they are both calcium blockers. I would like to know why they took cartia xt off thr market what was wrong with it? ## I'm not finding anything that lists it as being discontinued However, there have been several reports from people who have had great difficulty in find it. It is a calcium channel blocker, used to treat hypertension and angina. Did your doctor or pharmacist say it was discontinued? Cardizem is the name brand, is that right? Plus there must be MANY other names that are Generic but they are all the same, is that right? 1. Cartia XT 2. Diltizem ER (XR/XT) 3. Dilacor Xr. Plus each manufacturer has a different colored pill for the same thing, is that right? Just got a new prescription for Diltizem ER (XR/XT) and it is a peach and light pink large capsule - once before it was a pill and before that it was an orange and white capsule called Cartia XT. I wish someone could reassure me about what I'm safely taking. ## Hello, Joyce! How are you? Yes, these are all just different names for Diltiazem in an extended release formulation, however, the generic is actually just called Diltiazem, since that is the actual drug name.
